Mist and magic
On a far away island surrounded by a fog to protect the inhabitants, Port Bienvenido is where all new creatures pass through to find their true destination. A small coffee shop is most people's first port of call where the witch who runs it will always lend a hand or if she can't she'll send them down to her father living down the way where the smell of cooking seafood fills the air.
When a new monster is created their are born on a small piece of land just off the edge of the main Island, here they are greated by the ferry man who takes an assumed fee to take them to their new home.
The Island's main authority is the Monastary where angel like creatures help maintain the barrier to keep safe both the residents and the humans who sometimes find themselves in their waters and guide it's residents as best they can.
There are some on the island, nicknames Demons who push against this and try or succed in leaving the barrier
