StormyStarlight's Bulletins
ello!! just wanted to put out a quick bulletin for anyone who's subscribed to me for my html/css codes to let you know that discord's new image expiration policy apparently started rolling out today, and that it is going to affect any profiles you've made using my codes prior to october 5, 2023. it's also going to affect all of my ribbons if you got them from anywhere other than that resource profile (i.e. my comment on mistermuse/slate's resource profile or any sort of ribbon masterlist). you'll need to either copy & replace each image link manually or re-insert all your info into the current versions of my codes to fix any broken images.
i think i covered all my bases when i moved over to filegarden back in october, but if you notice any broken images in current versions of my codes, or if you otherwise don't know where to find an image of mine anymore, please let me know!!
this will also affect any sort of tutorial screenshots/images i've used in comments/messages. i'm not planning on looking through all of those myself and fixing 'em all, but if you notice one missing that would be helpful for you to reference, feel free to reply (regardless of whether you were the one who originally asked for it) and i'll dig it up & replace it for ya :]
OK hi everybody i'm opening some of these as promised! i'm gonna start with just 10 slots for now so i don't immediately get overwhelmed, but if you're getting here after the queue has been filled, feel free to comment asking for a ping when i open them again. which i will do once i've emptied the queue. thumbsup (also you can order multiple at once just don't like. take up the whole queue yourself obviously)
i've added them as an option in my commission information if you wanna check out the description i wrote there, but i'll reiterate anyway:
- the price is $4.00 USD (paypal) or 400p, paid upfront. if you want multiple characters in one, add $2.00 or 200p per character.
- the way these work is you give me (1). a character and (2). something for inspiration, and i just draw them in whatever way comes to mind based on that. it might be a headshot, it might be a fullbody, the background could be anything, but it will be 300x300px with a 5-color palette. you get what you get, which is why they're so cheap. they're experimental!
- please also keep in mind that because these are so small and the palette is limited, your character will almost definitely be simplified/stylized to some degree
- the inspiration you give could be anything like a general color scheme (e.g. 'colorful' or 'red'), theme/motif (e.g. 'nature' or 'loneliness'), a song/playlist link, a moodboard, or even just a short description of your character's personality/backstory. just something small to give me a vibe to go off of
- i will blindly pick a random 5-color palette from coolors and draw with it in grayscale, so even i don't know what the palette is until i'm done (no reason for this other than it's fun lmao). if you give me a general color scheme as your inspiration, i'll use that as a search parameter and pick blindly from those results. also if the palette ends up looking like shit i'll reroll it or make minor adjustments
aaand that's it basically! please at least gloss over my tou/s, then comment using the form below, and as long as everything's lookin good i'll tell you where to send the money/points and putcha in the queue :3
Form
- Payment Method: PayPal/deviantART Points
- Character Reference(s): Link or insert reference image(s) or character profile(s)
- Inspiration: Here's where you put a color, motif, song, or what-have-you
i've been making these little 300x300px experimental pixel pieces for myself for a while now (specifically to use as playlist covers) and it occurred to me that maybe they'd make for a fun commission option ! they're very easy for me to make so they'd probably only be like $4 or something. you can just vote if you're interested, or feel free to comment if you have some specific input or smth idk if there's a decent amount of interest i might open some in the next few days or so
I MEANT TO POST THIS YESTERDAY BUT i forgort .. anyway
i'm gunna be participating in art fight 2023!!!!!!!
i'm gunna be on team werewolves!!!!
also here's my team card thing
haiiiiii i finally went through a bunch of my old characters and did their profiles up for sale ^_^ please check out the folder linked above if you might be interested!! most of it is wings of fire characters, but i put some handy buttons up at the top to filter out fan-characters and original species if those aren't things ur interested in.
as of writing this, there are 12 USD flatsales between $5–$12, 80 art OTAs with autobuys between $1–$4/10p–400p, 56 art-only OTAs, and 43 freebies.
i'm gonna leave this up for maybe like a day before i formally list them all so that any of you guys can have a chance to grab them before all the freebies get whisked away in the wind or whatever (freebie listing stalkers are Ravenous in my experience). i'm in the middle of moving out (and also going to bed in like a few hours) so responses might be alittle slow but i will get back to everyone when i can !! feel free to comment on the characters or on this bulletin or private message me or whatever you're comfortable with to offer/claim, but just know that i might delete this bulletin at some point so if you're a fan of permanent records Maybeee don't do that. alrightie go ham get these critters out my house pleas
Commissions are closed unless otherwise indicated elsewhere. Please do not message me with a commission request unless you've been directed here from an opening post.
This page lists my (StormyStarlight's) current commission prices! I don't often open commissions, but if you're interested, I recommend keeping an eye out for announcements in bulletins on this Toyhou.se account or on my Instagram.
If you are interested in any type of art that does not have a price listed below, please ask me if I would be willing to do it! If I am, I will give you a quote. This quote will be valid until my commission prices are next adjusted (compare the date you received the quote to the "last updated" date below).
Below is a summarized list of some of my most notable commission policies. Please make sure you read my complete Terms of Use and Service document before requesting a commission.
Policies
- I reserve the rights to all artwork I create. It is not for commercial use by anyone other than myself.
- I do not draw suggestive/sexually focused art, real people, very complex characters, or any subjects I am morally opposed to or uncomfortable with. I am willing to draw humanoids, but I ask that you recognize they are not my strong suit—I have much more practice with feral and anthro characters. :)
- Payment is through PayPal (USD) or deviantART Points only. Prices are listed in USD only to avoid clutter; deviantART Points are accepted at a conversion rate of $1.00 = 100p. Not all openings are for both currencies; please read the details provided on each opening post to determine which is being accepted at the time.
- The prices below are base prices and are subject to increase if your request is especially complex.
- Payment is accepted after the sketch has been completed and approved unless otherwise indicated.
- Cancellations are accepted at any point during the process except after the commission is completed. You will receive a refund equivalent to the value of what has not been completed.
The prices on this page were last updated on 2 Oct 2023.
A closeup of your character's face, drawn specifically with use as an icon in mind. They're made to work well as both squares and circles so they may be used across several different platforms if desired. Backgrounds are solid-color by default, but may feature a simple design or a pride flag instead upon request for no extra charge. They may only feature one character each.
Hover to view each icon example as a circle.
An experimental 300x300px limited-palette pixel-art illustration of your character. These are drawn with a randomized 5-color palette, may range anywhere between a closeup and a fullbody of your character, may have any kind of background, and are generally inconsistent. This is an experimental type of commission with few standards, and I do not accept detailed descriptions or specifications for them—you may provide a general color scheme (e.g. 'colorful' or 'red'), theme (e.g. 'nature' or 'loneliness'), character personality/backstory description, or song/moodboard/etc. for inspiration, but otherwise you get what you get. As there is no sketch stage in the process of creating these, payment is taken upfront. Additional characters are + $2.00 each.
A standalone drawing of your character. This can range from a pagedoll to a scene—anything you want it to be! They are flatly colored with a solid-color/transparent background by default but may have shading, a simple background, and/or a complex background added for an extra charge. Simple backgrounds feature custom patterns/designs or simple scene elements and lighting; complex backgrounds feature more integrated and/or detailed background elements/scenery. Additional characters may be added for the cost of their base price—the added shading and background prices are per-piece and do not increase with the number of characters.
A single character design created from scratch, with inspiration, or as a redesign. You may give me as much or little creative freedom as you'd like! This typically only includes one fullbody view of your character. Toggleable layers, alternate versions, and extra views are added at my discretion based on need for design clarity. If you would like to specifically request extra views, they may be added at the cost of their equivalent illustration commission price (above).
Please review my Character Terms of Use before purchasing.
Character Terms of Use
An animated illustration of your character. Besides the animated pixel type, these typically include at least four unique frames. Animated icons always loop endlessly while animated illustrations may either loop endlessly or cut at the end. Animated illustrations may additionally have simple or complex backgrounds and/or feature additional characters, but may not be shaded. Simple backgrounds feature custom patterns/designs or simple scene elements and lighting; complex backgrounds feature more integrated and/or detailed background elements/scenery. Additional characters may be added for the cost of their base price—the added background prices are per-piece and do not increase with the number of characters.
I am particularly selective about which characters I accept for animated commissions; characters with floating shapes, more than four limbs, expansive palettes, detailed markings, gradients, or complex textures are especially subject to price increase or rejection. Additionally, due to the amount of variance allowed by the animated illustration option, it is also especially subject to price increase. Things such as frame count, animation length, animation complexity, amount of animated elements, and amount of character shown are all aspects that may raise its price. The examples below may help provide an idea of how different types of animation may be priced.
Once you have determined what you would like to order (and you are certain that commissions are open at the time), please fill out the form below. You may submit this form by commenting on this bulletin, commenting on the opening post that linked here, messaging me on whatever platform the opening post was on, messaging me here on Toyhou.se, messaging me on Discord, or emailing me. All options will be equally considered. Please also feel free to contact me in any manner if you have any questions or concerns. :)

I use a lot of tags, and this is ridiculous, so this page exists to help you and I both find what we're looking for. This only lists some of the more general, widely-used tags—any tags that only have one or two uses are excluded. Tags get added periodically as I determine they're relevant.

Here can be found a complete list of terms I (StormyStarlight) expect people using my artwork and character designs and/or commissioning me to adhere to. They're mostly very simple and laid back; however, I have outlined them in detail to prevent misunderstandings. While some of these terms may not be legally binding due to the nature of copyright law, I still expect people to respect them, and those who do not will be blocked and refused future service.
Notes
- StormyStarlight is referred to as both StormyStarlight and the Artist. She is referred to in the third person and uses she/her pronouns for the purpose of this document.
- A person commissioning, trading for, or otherwise receiving artwork or characters from the Artist is referred to as the Client. They are referred to in the third person and with singular they/them pronouns (as opposed to "he or she"/"his or her"/etc.) for the purpose of this document.
- If multiple sets of terms apply to a piece of artwork or a character (e.g. a character was created by the Artist but is part of a closed species), the strictest rules from each should be favored.
- Posting artwork is defined as creating a post/blog/image/etc. with the primary intention of showing off said artwork, regardless of how many total pieces of artwork may be present in said post (e.g. Toyhou.se images, Instagram posts, deviantART deviations).
- Displaying artwork is defined as showing off said artwork as a part of something larger such as a user or character profile where the primary intent is not to show off the artwork but to communicate other information (e.g. on a Toyhou.se character profile: pagedolls, reference images, decorative graphics). The artwork is not edited from its original form (besides cropping and resizing).
- Modifying artwork is defined as changing any visual aspects of said artwork besides cropping and resizing (e.g. editing colors, adding or removing details, filling in a base). Other minor changes may be exempt from this term's definition on a case-by-case basis.
These terms were last updated on 2 Oct 2023.
This section contains terms that apply to the usage of all artwork created by StormyStarlight.
Usage
- The Artist reserves the rights to all artwork she makes. The owners of any characters, species, concepts, etc. featured in the art that do not belong to the Artist maintain their rights to those intellectual properties.
- The Artist is always allowed to post, display, and/or modify her own artwork. She will not do so in an attempt to lay claim to intellectual properties within said artwork that do not belong to her. If requested by the Client, the Artist will keep her artwork for the Client private (see Commisison Terms of Service: General: 6).
- All of the Artist's artwork, regardless of the subject matter and who it was made for, is for personal use only by people other than the Artist. The Artist's artwork is not for commercial use by anyone other than herself.
- The Artist's artwork may be used to advertise/demonstrate an intellectual property within it that is for sale (i.e. when selling a character that has been drawn by the Artist or that was created using a base drawn by the Artist, it is acceptable to advertise the sale of said character using this artwork). Please note that since the Artist reserves the rights to her artwork, these rights are never transfered along with the rights of any intellectual property it depicts; however, any new owners of this intellectual property automatically receive permission to post and display it, as outlined below.
- See Character Terms of Use: Usage: 2 for information regarding the commercial usage of characters created by the Artist.
- Artwork created by the Artist may only be posted, displayed, and/or modified by people other than the Artist under the following cirumstances. Under all of them, unless explicitly otherwise stated, proper credit is required (see Artwork Terms of Use: Crediting). These circumstances and their respective guidelines are as follows:
- The person doing so currently owns one or more of the intellectual properties depicted in the artwork.
- They are allowed to post and display it but may not modify it.
- If they want something in the artwork modified, they may ask the Artist to do so for them. So long as it is doable and not excessively time-consuming, she will be willing to modify it for them free of charge.
- The artwork is solely a fanwork for a TV series, movie, video game, or other form of media (no fan-characters or other fan-made elements are depicted—only canon material). This does not apply to fan-art/gift art for other independent creators unless their permission is granted.
- The person doing so is allowed to post and display it but may not modify it.
- The artwork is a free-to-use or pay-to-use (that has been paid for) premade resource (e.g. pagedoll, graphic).
- The person doing so is allowed to display it but may not post or modify it.
- The artwork is a free-to-use or pay-to-use (that has been paid for) template resource (e.g. base).
- The person doing so is allowed to modify it but may not post or display it in its original, unmodified form. They may, however, post and display the modified version.
- The person doing so currently owns one or more of the intellectual properties depicted in the artwork.
- Artwork created by the Artist may only be posted by people other than herself (with the correct permission to do so) to the following sites:
Crediting
- Artwork created by the Artist must always, unless explicitly otherwise stated, be properly credited if the person posting or displaying the artwork is not the Artist. Proper credit is defined as:
- Toyhou.se
- Posts: Onsite artist credit to the account StormyStarlight. (This applies to images, literatures, characters, and all other areas in which onsite credit is possible.)
- Displays: A functioning mention of the account StormyStarlight or link to the original work. (Profile pictures do not need to be credited if the full image is within the character's gallery and is credited properly.)
- Instagram
- Posts: A tag of the account stormy.starlight in the photo/video itself and a functioning mention of the account in the description.
- Displays: A functioning mention of the account stormy.starlight.
- deviantART (displays only): A functioning mention of the account StormyStarlight or link to the original work.
- Amino (displays only): A functioning link to the Wings of Fire Amino account »—stormystarlight—➢ or link to the original work.
- Art Fight (displays only): If the image is uploaded to a character profile: A link to the account StormyStarlight in the credit field tied to the image being displayed. If the image is displayed within the text area of a user or character profile: A functioning mention of the account StormyStarlight or link to the original work.
- Elsewhere (displays only): A functioning link to the Artist's Carrd, a relevant account of hers, or the original work.
- Toyhou.se
This section contains terms that apply to the usage of all characters created by StormyStarlight.
Usage
- All characters created by the Artist belong fully to their respective owners from the moment all payment (if any) agreed upon is sent/completed. The Artist does not retain any rights to the character after this time but must still be credited appropriately (see Character Terms of Use: Crediting).
- The Artist still reserves the rights to all artwork she makes. The Artist is always allowed to post, display, and/or modify her own artwork. She will not do so in an attempt to lay claim to intellectual properties within said artwork that do not belong to her. If requested by the Client, the Artist will keep her artwork for the Client private (see Commisison Terms of Service: General: 6).
- All characters created by the Artist, but that are not owned by her, are for personal use only by default. The Artist is open to allowing commercial usage if and only if it's discussed beforehand.
- An aditional payment may or may not be requested for a commercial license. Please note that this has not yet happened and the Artist does not have much knowledge of this area of copyright law (please be patient).
- See Artwork Terms of Use: Usage: 2 for information regarding the commercial usage of artwork created by the Artist.
- Characters created by the Artist may be sold or traded in any way regardless of how the people doing so obtained them.
- However: The Artist reserves the right to block and refuse future service to anyone should she feel they are repeatedly inflating prices/upselling characters she has created specifically to turn a profit. She will not do so without first giving a warning. Generally, she asks that prices don't increase without new tangible content.
- Characters created by the Artist may be redesigned/have their designs modified to any extent.
- However: The Artist asks that should a character she created be redesigned so drastically their design is no longer recognizable, their owner is to separate the old and new designs into two different characters. They may transfer all the character's information (e.g. name, personality, story, writing) to the new design and do what they wish with the old one (e.g. retire it as a separate character, use it for something else, sell or trade it). Should this be done, the Artist does not need to be credited in any manner for the new design.
- Credit is still required for characters initially created by the Artist whose redesigns are within the recognizable range and are regarded as the same character as their previous design. See Character Terms of Use: Crediting for more information on this.
- The owner's own discretion may be used to determine which category the redesign falls under. Within a certain margin of recognizability, the Artist does not care which option is chosen. If there is any doubt, the Artist may be asked for her input on the recognizability of a redesign.
Crediting
- Credit for the designs of characters created by the Artist must always be present on any character profiles made for them (e.g. Toyhou.se character profiles, Art Fight character profiles, Amino Wiki Entries) and in the credits of large projects (e.g. long-form video series or comics). Credit for the designs of characters created by the Artist does not need to be elsewhere (e.g. drawings of the character) unless specifically asked for by the Artist. Proper credit is defined as:
- Toyhou.se
- Character Profiles: Onsite creator credit to the account StormyStarlight. If the Artist did not create the character but redesigned them: Onsite designer credit to the account StormyStarlight.
- Other: A functioning mention of the account StormyStarlight.
- Instagram: A functioning mention of the account stormy.starlight.
- deviantART: A functioning mention of the account StormyStarlight.
- Amino: A functioning link to the Wings of Fire Amino account »—stormystarlight—➢.
- Art Fight: A functioning link to the account StormyStarlight in the design credit field. If the Artist did not create the character but redesigned them: A functioning link to the account StormyStarlight in the additional credits field.
- Elsewhere: A functioning link to the Artist's Carrd or relevant account of hers.
- Toyhou.se
- If a character created by the Artist has been redesigned and is still regarded as the same character as its previous design, the Artist is still required to be credited as the initial creator. People who have redesigned the character should also be credited alongside her for the redesigns specifically (e.g. "initially created by StormyStarlight; redesigned by @username"). On Toyhou.se, the onsite account StormyStarlight should be credited as the creator of the character and any people who have redesigned the characters as designers.
This section contains terms that apply specifically when commissioning artwork and character designs from StormyStarlight oneself.
Subject Matter
- The Artist is willing to draw any of the following:
- Characters the Client owns or gifts for others (in good taste)
- Original characters, pets, fan-characters, and fan-art
- Feral, anthro, and simple-shaped characters
- Avians, dragons, reptiles, felines, canines, bugs, and most other animals
- Humans and humanoids, though the Artist asks that the Client recognizes they are not her strong suit
- Most gore, body horror, and other sensitive content
- Lined, lineless, and pixel art
- Simple scenery/backgrounds
- The Artist will not draw any of the following:
- Very complex characters or backgrounds
- Real people
- NSFW art, suggestive/sexual art, nudity, or fetish
- Glorification of pedophilia, zoophilia, incest, abuse, etc.
- Hate symbols or offensive imagery/language
- Fan-art of or characters belonging to media or individuals the Artist is morally opposed to or uncomfortable with
- Anyhow the owner of an intellectual property would not consent to it being depicted
- The Artist has the right to refuse any commission request for any reason, with or without explanation.
General
- The Artist does not work with strict deadlines and does not necessarily complete commissions in the order they are received—simpler commissions that would take less time may be completed before commissions ordered before them. However, it is encouraged for the Client to inquire about the commission if they have any concerns or would like a status update.
- The prices listed in the Artist's commission information are base prices and are subject to increase if the Client's request would be especially complex, time-consuming, or difficult to complete.
- The Artist is willing to make minor changes to commissioned artwork at any stage of the process (including after completion) free of charge. More involved modifications may be subject to extra charge, depending on reasoning:
- Errors made by the Artist (e.g. accidental omission of a part of a character's design or misplaced color) will not cost extra to be fixed.
- Changes based on the Client's personal preference (e.g. different composition or color scheme) are subject to extra charge if they are not requested during the sketch stage and would be especially complex, time-consuming, or difficult to implement.
- Commissioned artwork, unless otherwise specified, is completed and delivered digitally. Artwork created with physical mediums may be mailed upon request if such was not already agreed upon. Unless otherwise specified or agreed upon, digital artwork files are sent in .PNG format (layered files such as .PSDs or .SAI2s will not be provided).
- Commissioned artwork, like all other artwork the Artist creates, will be overlayed with a subtle watermark containing the Artist's username, platforms, and the year the artwork was completed. Unwatermarked files are not provided.
- By default, the Artist may post and display any commissioned artwork she makes. Should the Client ask for their commissioned artwork to remain private, the artwork will not be posted or displayed by the Artist.
Payment
- Payment, unless otherwise agreed upon, is to be sent in full after the sketch/first draft of the commissioned artwork is completed. The Artist will not continue work on the commissioned artwork until all payment agreed upon is received.
- Payment is to be made via PayPal or deviantART Points only. The Client may choose which method they would like to pay with if the payment type has not already been specified by the Artist.
- Payment made via PayPal is only accepted in USD (United States dollar) through the "Goods and Services" option. The Artist will supply her PayPal email for the Client to send the payment to. The Client is not expected to pay any extra to cover PayPal fees.
- Payment made via deviantART points is to be sent to the Artist through the "Give Points" option unless otherwise specified.
Cancellations & Refunds
- The Client has the right to cancel their commission for any reason, with or without explanation.
- If the Client cancels, they will receive a refund equivalent to the value of what has not yet been completed of the commission (e.g. a commission that is 25% complete will refund for 75% of the original price) and the .PNG file of what has been completed.
- The Artist does not provide refunds for commissions that have already been completed.
- The Artist has the right to cancel the Client's commission for any reason, with or without explanation.
- If the Artist cancels, the Client will receive a full refund of the original price and the .PNG file of what has been completed.
