The remnants of despair are rehabilitated, and Hopes Peak Academy has re-opened with multiple locations under new management. Everything should be safe and normal for the world as a whole.

But there are mutterings of a secret club forming within the walls of the new Hopes Peak Academy, and spreading beyond in the dark of the internet, one that idolises an image of Junko Enoshima that they've pieced together from Hope's Peak incredibly censored history lessons. When the students of Hopes Peak Academy branches start disappearing and turning up dead in what seems to be a wave of copycat killing games, society is forced to face the idea that Despair may rise again...
