you're not me anymore, but i've not fully become someone else yet, either.
...
sorry... i didn't mean to bother. you just look so familiar... have we met before?
Oh! No troubles. I can't help but feel the same... My name is Acacia. Is yours..?
OH MY! How charming! How sweet! Hee-hee-hee. Maybe if you can tell us a WONDERFUL JOKE, we will get some ice creams with you... make it a good one! Make us LAUGH, boy!
How delightful! It's always nice to meet a fellow performer. Nothing like bringing joy to others, is there? And your co-stars: Aggie and Dia, yes? Almost as charming as their host!
I did ventriloquism for a while, though I can't say I'm all that good at it. I would love to get tips from you sometime! Perhaps over some ice cream? I know a great place...
Oh, no... Gwennie, can you repeat that? Not all of it, just the last part... and MAYBE the middle part... We seemed to have zoned out. JUST a little! Gyahaha! (...But seriously, just once more?)
There are those in this world who hide behind masks of different varieties, Meri. Masks of the stage, actors pretending to be someone they are not to forget who they are. Masks of writing, telling the stories of fictional others in fictional other worlds to escape the real one they are stuck in. And masks of puppetry, putting on an alternate persona, or personas, as the case may be, to keep their true selves hidden beneath layers of cotton or plastic. We wonder, are your two little friends masks for you? Or are they just there for fun? We know which answer you will give, whether or not that answer is the truth or a lie, we know it will be the latter. For if they are masks, well, you would not be giving that information freely, now would you? That would fully defeat the point. Still, we long to delve into your story, and perhaps theirs as well, if they will indulge us. For they must have stories, yes? Normally, we find little interest in the lives of fictional characters, but when they are so intimately tied with a real, true life, well, that makes them all the more fascinating. Would you wish them to be a part of your story once you are gone? We can assure that this will happen.
Those puppets are really cute, do they have names? What can you tell me about them? Do you happen to have other puppets with you, or is it always those two? What are your favorite performances? Could I see you perform someday? Oh! I am getting carried away again, my apologies. If it's not a bother, could I take a picture of you?
Ah, a TEACHER! Do you teach the TEENY TINIES? or perhaps the LARGER children? Maybe even... people our age? OH, the possibilities...! There always seems to be more to learn. Is there always more to teach, too?
(?) you could say that i teach the 'teeny tiny' kids, which always means there's a lot to teach and a lot to learn, for me just as much as them. do you always speak like that, or is this some kind of performer-speak? ... never mind. do you do performances for children?
Aw, Aggie and Dia…! What material are they made of, they look really high quality…! I’ve made a few hand-puppets, since they’re considered toys. They’re not my favorite thing to make in the world, but they make people happy, so I do what I can. Kids really love them, I know that for sure. If Aggie and Dia need a makeover, or accessories, I can always try and make them some… :}
Oh, YES! They are our little 'buddies'! They are oh-so LOYAL, always there to help! How about YOU, Ceci? Do you have a true, true friend? Or maybe TWO, like us? Gyahaha!
Ahh, what cute puppets you have... is, is it fun, being up on the stage with them...? S-speaking through them? It m-must feel like, like having two little friends, always right there at arm's length for you. How lovely... Oh, but, I h-hope they don't mind it too much. I guess they wouldn't, if th-they've been letting you puppet them for so long. What l-loyal friends they are... lucky, lucky...
Oh, a SUPERMODEL? How fun! How fashionable! Can we get an autograph, queen? GYAHAHAHA!
Um… Who’s we? I don’t- I don’t see anyone else, um, with you… Um, yes I can autograph something, “queen”… Do you have a paper..? Or should I sign the.. Gloves..?
Oh, oh, OH! No pain at all, dear Maddie! We are having lots of fun, though! Beri Meri... we like that! You seem to be having lots of FUN, fun, fun! Do you perform too? Do coroners have to? We'd LOVE to know!
Lots of people are scared of puppets. I'm not sure why! I think it's fun when someone has to rely on a whole other being to breathe, speak, think, and eat! It's a perfect kind of coalescence, isn't it? You're a pulsating, living amalgamation, aren't you? Does it hurt? You look like you're having fun, Beri Meri! But we both know that performers are just characters -- empty vessels to be controlled by someone else. I wonder -- are you empty inside, too? Eheehee!
Ohhh, nooo... are you tired? Do you need a NAP? Is being a biochemist very tiring? It sounds like one of those tiring jobs. You know the kind, right? So is it? Is it one of the tiring jobs? Or is it not tiring for you? You are the /ultimate/ one after all... !maybe it's all in a days work, or whatever they say...
We are NOT that itchy, so don't worry your pretty little head, bunny! Oh, and we must warn you... don't call Aggie and Dia cute too often... It'll go right to their cotton-filled little heads! The cotton will puff-puff-puff right up, and their sweet little heads might just explode from the EGO boost, and then we won't have these sweet baby puppets anymore!
Cute puppets... I bet all those sequins get kind of itchy. And no pants... You're dedicated to your craft, huh? If it makes you happy, then I'm glad that you get to do it all the time. I like your little hat, hehe.
