Artfight 2022 - Bloom

Posted 1 year, 10 months ago by seel

not sure how much energy i'll have for this year, but feel free to link your characters/profiles/etc (especially if they are chimereons) and i'll do the best i can!
I will do attacks, revenges, and friendly fires whenever possible, it'll mostly depend on my motivational drive.

i'm still trying to recover from my mental health hiatus but i think this will be a healthy opportunity for me to ease back into it.

  I'm on team BLOOM!

Obligatory Artfight Bulletin

Posted 2 years, 10 months ago by seel

HERE IS MY ARTFIGHT PROFILE!
https://artfight.net/~seel

I joined team STEAMPUNK

Instead of submitting a bunch of new characters this year, I just submitted Sibyl and then submitted a general "TH" character that links to an artfight tag!

last year's AF was a bit rough for me. I really wanted to participate more but there was just a lot going on and I could not properly focus. So I hope I can make up for it this year!

I'm very interested in drawing Chimereons, so if you have any submitted on AF please link them in the comments and I'll add them to my bookmarks!!  ^^

response to a callout

Posted 3 years, 1 month ago by seel

context: someone had gone through my NSFW twitter likes/follows, as well as pixiv follows and found some concerning content. the concerns are justified, so i would like to address it below

EDIT 3: content under a spoiler now, because the huge wall of text was giving me anxiety, and it also discusses some NSFW topics.

i would have commented directly on the callout made about me but the user who made the callout has me blocked on all platforms so i was unable to respond to it. based on the post they are also not interested in any kind of response from me, but i know people who follow me want a response. so for those followers who are concerned about it, this is for you.
i'm not sure if i should link the callout or not, because i don't want it to seem like i am "sending my fans" to attack this person. of course i don't want anyone to attack them. they are just a viewer who is concerned about this content, which is extremely reasonable. if i were a fan seeing this i would be concerned too, as those concerns are justified.

to be extremely clear: I DO NOT SUPPORT OR CONDONE NSFW UNDERAGE CONTENT!!! AT ALL!! i find it highly disgusting and any association i have with it is incidental and DEFINITELY not intentional. i will immediately not associate with an account i find that posts this sort of material, point blank period.
this kind of content actually makes me sick to my stomach, i don't like it in ANY way. not even in artwork.

the issue of course comes with my NSFW twitter account, which i almost never log into or use at all. i don't often see what people post there or pay attention to any of the accounts i have followed. yes, i understand this is an issue. apparently i had followed some accounts that i was completely unaware posted this sort of content. i have unfollowed everyone on my NSFW twitter as a precaution since i'm not terribly interested in NSFW content anyway and to be safe i would prefer to just not follow any at all. i have also removed all of my likes on that account for the same reason. you can of course hold me accountable for these mistakes, but do not misinterpret it as me liking this content.

regarding the likes:
-i liked some redraws from the sailor moon challenge. they were all SFW images. i'm not even familiar with who the artist puyocha brio is so i probably just saw the tweet randomly show up on my timeline and fav'd it.
-i don't watch/read BNHA, i'm not familiar with any of the characters of this show, so the post i fav'd was just me liking some art i thought was nice. the character in the artwork did not look underage, they looked like an adult, so i had no idea.
-similarly i'm not very familiar with the zelda/BOTW series. i was just liking art i thought looked nice, and it was not because i was ogling after some underage characters. of course i know who zelda and link are, but i don't play the games and i don't know much about the characters/story.
-the squidling is a mutuals squid-sona and said mutual is an adult
- the schoolgirl uniform was honestly just a mistake. i was not paying attention.
-i'm also not familiar with Galko i just saw a nice drawing and fav'd it, again. the body type is obviously the body of a mature character, how would a person unfamiliar with the character assume she was underage?

regarding the follows:
- as i said before, i just kind of mindlessly followed people with art i thought was nice. i saw a piece pop up on my timeline and would hit follow without doing much research. a lot of follows on my NSFW account are from many years ago and i'm not even that familiar with the artists or the content they draw. i do realize that this was careless of me, and since i do not use my NSFW twitter that often it is just not something i paid attention to.
- it is also customary in Japan (where i live) when meeting people at conventions to follow them on their social medias. this caused me to follow a lot of people i actually had no idea who they were. before posting this i just reviewed some of the accounts i had followed on my pixiv and i was pretty disgusted by the content they create... and i'm really sorry that others had to also see me follow this and assumed it was something i supported.

regarding my pixiv account:
-i literally have not logged into that account in years, i have no idea who i am even following there. i might as well deactivate it because i don't want to be associated with that kind of crap AT ALL.

regarding my friends demon webcomic:

the characters are not meant to portray underage characters. the style was taking inspiration from Panty and Stocking, which is why the proportions of the characters are like that. but they are not children nor are they underage.
i don't know how relevant it is to mention or not but they also did not intend for the devil girls/lychgate series to contain any porn.

to respond to a direct quote from the callout:
"it's too coincidental to just be an "accident" that they have so many visible cub artists that you can SPOT from a mile away followed."
- actually yes it is a coincidence. i am incredibly careless. i don't review people i follow, and i don't often check my social media accounts, so i'm not constantly seeing what the people i follow post. i hardly ever use my NSFW twitter and if i do it's usually just to post a tit, and then i log off. for my pixiv account it has literally just been inactive for years.

as a side note: i am asexual and most interest i have in NSFW art comes from appreciating the artwork and not being sexually attracted to it.
i understand this does not remove me from taking responsibility for my carelessness, but i hope it can at least help to clear up any residual concerns.

i do wish the user who created the callout had come to me personally, but i also understand why it was done and i do not wish this user any ill-will.

EDIT 1: apologies the post was locked, i have it unlocked now. i also had the setting to mature because of discussions of NSFW content, but i also removed that. i don't know if it's appropriate or if TH will punish that or not, but i wanted people to be able to see my response.

EDIT 2: people had expressed additional concerns about there being too many accounts to be a mere coincidence, so i feel i should expand on that a bit further. in my haste to get a response to the callout and clear the air, i did not go terribly in-depth on this part, but i feel it's definitely necessary to help others understand the situation. i commented this already in a reply below, but i am also adding it here:

-i understand how looking at a condensed list of suspicious accounts i used to follow seems fishy, and i have seen a few others think it's too many to be a coincidence. i'd like to explain it a bit further since i didn't go terribly in-depth on my post.

many years ago i would mass-follow accounts, either random people i would meet at conventions and we would exchange follows as a courtesy (without vetting their accounts or content), or sometimes even just random people (before i really had a following i would try to re-follow anyone who followed me, before realizing this was kind of a futile goal). i did eventually try to weed some of those accounts out because i'd just be inundated with content i wasn't familiar with or even interested in. but i also don't spend terribly much time on social media, so i would do this in small bursts over the course of a few years.
the one account i never did this on though was pixiv since i had just completely abandoned and forgotten about it.

in the callout, the user mentions that they have proof of accounts i used to follow, but when they posted the callout i no longer followed certain accounts: this was probably during one of my phases of trying to clean out accounts like that. exactly for the reasons mentioned: because the content was disgusting and not something i support at all.

most of the artists on the list are ones i dont even recognize the names or the artwork. but there are certain ones i DO recognize, and i remember exactly why i followed them (two of them specifically used to draw really cool dragons), but it seems over the years their content had really changed into some really disgusting things. since i don't actively look at my timelines this was just a change in content i didn't notice until it was too late.

to some this sorta thing might seem really obvious and clear, but i really do not spent that much time on my socials. i just hope that some people reading this who feel suspicious can at least understand that people have different browsing habits, and sometimes these things just go unnoticed.

i vehemently despise this kind of content, i don't even enjoy it a little bit. it is NOT alright. it makes me feel sick and upset, and knowing that i had been following some of those types just makes my skin crawl.

i'm not trying to force anyone's opinion to change, people are more than welcome to feel uncomfortable by my association with it. i don't feel comfortable either, so i really can't blame others. i'm just trying my best to explain my truth of the situation.
