004. Project Overhaul... 2!

Posted 5 months, 27 days ago by udachox

EDIT 1:

The project has been renamed to Zombolini: Apocalypse NOW! or just Zombolini to refer to the surrounding world/talking about the meta aspects of it. I'm currently in the process of reworking the main characters but I think I've settled on my initial ideas for a core six and will go from there. After those guys are decided and things like mock episodes are thought up of, then I'll see if I need to design any extra guys. I may even make profiles (even if its just bare-bones) for the crew behind it? Who knows.

If you want to follow along Z:AN!'s information outside of what's updated here, I have a mock wiki site for it that I want to start working on in my free time!

TLDR: Stitched Together! is currently undergoing an overhaul. The project's name, general premise of the show, and overall look/feel will change. The meta aspect will not.

The premise of it being a meta-based project about a fake kids' cartoon from the 2000s is still very much real, as are the reasons given for its cancellation, the main cast in their general vibe/roles, and so on. This alone is core to the project and what it is, and I have enough ideas regarding that to not have any reason (or will) to change it. However, I'm not a big enough fan of fiction focusing on monsters to where I've been struggling to do a lot for it. Between designs not feeling monster-y enough, to the daunting task of building an entirely new world (even if it was always meant to be a bare-bones setting), the questionable choice to have the color palette be extremely limited, and the lack of passion I have for the subject matter... it's better that I rework things.

And, well, I am a fan of post-apocalyptic settings. The fictional characters and world are instead going to focus on a zombie apocalypse that happened due to a break-out of a virus that spread to the masses. However, I'm going to challenge myself and try to spin it in a bit of an interesting direction where it'd prioritize a slice-of-life vibe that focuses on the characters themselves, remains mostly episodic, and would be appropriate enough to air on something like Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Boomerang, and Toon Disney.

Any public information that has yet to be updated at the time of this bulletin's posting is considered outdated/inaccurate. This bulletin will be edited once the public information I have is more relevant to the new direction of the project.

003. Project and Focus Updates

Posted 7 months, 24 days ago by udachox

If you've been browsing my account in the time after this bulletin was posted, you may notice that certain areas of my profile have changed drastically. This is mainly the characters section, where projects like Forged From Dust are now listed under my Addendum subfolder instead of directly under Stories. Long story short, I've been burnt out with FFD in areas that fall outside of characters and (some) worldbuilding-related areas. At least for now, I'm putting the story on an indefinite hiatus as it just isn't fun for me and I don't want to keep stressing about it. I do these projects because I love creating, and while some parts of the creative process are messy, the process as a whole shouldn't be this stress-inducing. Especially with my projects, as they're passion projects and the chance I'll make them legitimate is still up in the air.

So... What now?

I've recently shifted my attention to a relatively new project that I'm dubbing as STITCHED TOGETHER!. It's meant to be a meta project/ARG, being about a fictitious show and treating said show like it actually existed. The show itself was a kid's cartoon airing in the mid-2000s, but was canceled due to complications and controversy. So another layer to this will be the reason for cancelation, the idea of having scrapped/changed story beats, and a few characters being intended to be part of the real world. I don't know where this project will go as it'll be relatively self-contained. But this is something that I've missed in story creation for a while, and this really hones in on my passions.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I promise the FFD characters aren't going anywhere, they're just being shelved as I'm completely burnt out by that project and can't expand more on it. MotW is still around, though has always been intended to be a secondary/small project, so it's relatively unaffected by this change.

I updated how my directory looks utilizing VynxCodes' Folders & Tags code! Hopefully listing all the folders I have with little descriptions makes it eaasier to find things and understand what's in each folder.

Furthermore, I've been updating my characters' profiles from jiko's Tacit code to use sharkadelic's Loveboy code. I like the simplistic and condensed layout that this has compared to Tacit.

If anything is hard to read on a certain theme, please let me know in the comments! I want to make the theme as accessible as possible while still color-coding things to some extent.

EDIT 1:
I've yet again updated what codes I use for characters, going with specific ones depending on the project and the character role. This includes jiko's Quaint and Lackidasical Bundle codes for Forged From Dust characters, hj7's Prior Things code for Murder on the Wire, and I'm still debating on what to use for Stitched Together! at the time of writing this. Unless I find another code that fits the characters/story better, these are what I'll settle with for certain stories. Characters outside of stories will most likely have unique codes that pertain to them and their story/purpose rather than a set code.

Please keep in mind that I do have other places I host character profiles, such as the Forged From Dust and Stitched Together! websites. The Toyhou.se profiles are not going anywhere, but information between the two locations may vary slightly given the profile layout differences and such.

001. Project Overhaul

Regarding The Deserters, a lot will change within the next week. Discussing the project with some friends made me realize there's a lot of flaws and holes in the story that I haven't publicly revealed. As such, a lot will change (both behind the scenes and publicly) to rectify these. The main trio (Kezo, Macha, Ita) are not expected to change outside of finalizing designs. I also plan on making more information public knowledge, so expect to learn more about the characters and world rather than just small blurbs. Assume that everything known prior to this bulletin's posting is going to be changed. While that may not be true, please treat it as such until this bulletin is edited.

Other projects (Murmuration) are being put on hold for the time being. They will be resumed once I'm satisfied with The Deseters' rework.

EDIT 1:

The following changes to The Deserters have been made:

  • Project has been renamed from The Deserters to Forged From Dust.
  • Ita has been renamed to Irit and has had another massive design overhaul.
  • Kezo's outfit has changed.
  • The focus has shifted from Macha as the head of the group to Kezo.
    • The reason the trio bands together has also been shifted to account for Kezo being the de-facto leader.
  • World (Aedium) has been renamed to Noveo.
  • Characters have been added to flesh out the world.
    • These characters will be left as snippets and blurbs to keep their purpose and place in the story relatively unknown. Information may be released at a later date.
My additional projects, such as Murmuration, have been completely scrapped. I am focusing much of my attention on Forged From Dust to build up the "new" concept and make it stronger. I may revisit the concept of Murmuration in the future but have no plans to do so for the foreseeable future.

EDIT 2:
A lot more has been changed since the previous update, almost too much to list. The first edit was merely a "this is the immediate that has changed". Please see the project folder and/or the loresite for more (public) information about the project.
