Adopt Rules
You may:
- ...resell one of my designs for the original price you paid, plus the price of any art you've commissioned of said design.
- ...regift or retrade. (If transferring off-site, send me a message first with the new owner's name/handle so I can keep it for my records! No need to wait for my reply; I just need to have it in writing.)
- ...purchase an adopt for somebody else (you're responsible for transferring it to 'em, though).
- ...co-own or share a purchased design (although it'll be up to you to figure out the details w/ the other person. I'm just the vendor, baby!).
- ...edit the design or colors to your liking, if it's on a separate ref. If it's on the same drawing that came w/ the adopt, you can still edit it as long as the edits aren't NSFW/offensive in nature; and as long as you're clear in the credits/image description about which parts you changed!
- ...repost the original artwork, as long as you credit me with a link to my profile in a visible location (like the image description).
- ...use the design (not the image you bought, just the character design) commercially, as you see fit. For instance, if you want to have them as the mascot of your YouTube channel or as a character in your for-profit video game, be my guest! Credit is optional, but appreciated. There is no fee for commercial usage.
You may not:
- ...resell one of my designs for more than the total price you've spent on it (inc. the price of comms). This restriction is lifted automatically if you've spent at least $30 on additional content, or obtained 3 additional arts, in which case you can resell the OC for whatever price you see fit. Just make it worth the customer's cash, OK? If I see you selling a $10 adopt for $20 with no additional art, I will either block you or notify the person you're selling to so that they know you're ripping them off.
- ...claim credit for the original artwork, or repost the original artwork without crediting my TH profile in a visible location.
- ...delete the character/design altogether. Just give them to somebody if you don't want them anymore! If nobody takes them, you can give them back to me; however, do note that I won't refund you, and you'll have to re-buy them if you change your mind.
...delete the character and reupload them without contacting me first, or crediting me as the creator again. If I am not listed as the creator, then future buyers (or folks in general) won't be able to easily verify the adopt was legitimately purchased. You would also be wiping my ToS from the Ownership tab, so it's a lose-lose for any protection either of us has under the Terms.
Please Note
These terms still apply to characters that are being or have been regifted, retraded, or resold. If you are transferring this character for any reason, it is your responsibility to make sure the new owner is aware and accepting of these terms.
