Hey! Do you have any tutorial/resources for learning your style of painting [forgot it's proper name -- lineless painting? blocking? ^^;] I'd like to learn the method [since I have absolutely NO background with coloring], but I'm having trouble finding tutorials that imitate your/that style. Β
Additionally, what program do you use? Do you use multiple brushes? Create a palette beforehand? Layer settings?

oh gosh hello!! dfhfdgg i'll try my best to help, but forgive me if i'm unclear about anything!! i got a bit carried away with how much i wrote-- i hope this word vomit can help even just a little bit! o(-<
process:
my coloring process honestly changes depending on my mood, or sometimes i just want to experiment with methods. for the most part i lay out all the base colors and then build atmosphere on top of it! after that, i'll do one of the following:
Β Β > use multiply / overlay / add layers on top to create atmosphere and then render once i'm happy with the colors. (ex. here)
Β Β > make a really rough color plan / composition sketch, then once i've found one i like, properly draw it later (ex. start - end || start - end)
Β Β > work on values only, then add colors later on-- if you look up "grayscale to color painting", it's basically like that! but usually, i like to add a twist of adding a gradient map first, then adding the color. (ex. start- end)
Β Β > color blocking! i'll lay the base shapes w/ colors, then render them later. (ex. startΒ - end)
a few things to note:
- i always have some form of sketch that i will color over or under, so it only looks lineless later because i usually render over them a lot!! you may benefit from having lines tho, i paint over sketches mostly because my attention span is horrible and i really just want to get to the rendering part dfhdfgdfhd
- don't be afraid to use adjustments! brightness/contrast, color balance, gradient map (with lower opacity), they're all helpful! a lot of my stuff has been adjusting during and after i paint-- do whatever is pleasing to your eye!

currently, i'm using clip studio paint! i used to use photoshop almost exclusively, and in there i used the default round photoshop brush! if i could, i'd use the same brush in clip studio, but i can't find anything that works like it o(-< i don't know what my main brush in CSP is tho, it's just a default airbrush that's been tweaked a bit? i have other various texture brushes for when i want to add effects! i try to use only 1 brush per drawing depending on the style i want in that drawing (if i want it rough, soft, have a painted effect, etc.), but i'll use texture brushes whenever i want for backgrounds and such!
as for palettes, i usually tell myself if there's 1 or 2 colors i want for a pic, and work around that. i'll keep adjusting other colors until i find a palette i like, and then go with it!Β
layers will usually just be motion lines -> sketch -> base colors -> adjustment layers -> render render render
and i think that's it!! i hope it helps o(-< i'm still learning myself, and i definitely still struggle with coloring-- one thing i found helpful is to observe how other people see coloring! here are some artists with coloring styles i love:

Hi there! I just happened to come across Haseuk in one of the forum threads and after reading his bio just had to check out the others and leave a comment somewhere. (I'm not surprised to see that others had the very same urge ahaha)
But really, I just love the layout of the profiles, the way it's sectioned off. Your art is gorgeous and the writing just feels so goodΒ to read; both for the way it's actually written and reading it out of the character`s pov. It really immerses you really fast, imo (which is where i'm assuming i'm pointing out the obvious aha)
I'm bad with words but ahhh, they're just such a pleasure to read through. I adore how they have their own themes listed as well, it may just be a one-liner, it just makes meΒ feel. I only know the characters as far as I could read of them here but I hope, whatever they end up doing or wherever they end up being, that it's been worth it for them. ; v; Okay maybe I'm getting unnecessarily sappy here, but they all seem like really great characters! Needless to say I wish I could continue reading about them ahahaha.
