Hello & Thanks for Dropping By!
I'll be doing constant adopts for at least a month to help pay a fairly large medical bill. I'll be posting as often as I can with new designs and appreciate any help I receive! Below are a few quick answers for any curious, but feel free to skip this bit!
- What medical bill? Is it really for bills? The short answer is IOP, a type of therapy. It is strictly for this bill, as after insurance I'll owe a little over $3000 dollars. While I will be on medical leave for this month (which gives me time for art after sessions), that covers my usual bills and not the added expense.
- Can I help outside of adopts? Yes! Sharing this, sharing the ko-fi page, & donating are all appreciated!
- Are you only doing adopts for donations? Nope! I'm actively taking commissions as well, and due to the circumstances I'm willing to adjust my prices a little. Please see the buttons below to find my commission info!
- Do you accept trades? Any design listed in this thread is paypal/ko-fi only! However, if you click the UFS/UFT button you can see my full folder. Just know I may reply slow to trade requests because that is not priority right now!

So my laptop bit the dust, and you're all invited to the funeral. I'm doing a big purge of OCs to raise funds to either fix it or replace it. I'm entertaining offers on all, but be aware that OCs tagged "na" are ones I'd rather keep. If offering please DM with who you want & your offer!
Shrinelings are fae creatures, that can appear humanoid, anthro, or feral! They work alongside magic users as conduits in a symbiotic relationship; they increase the potential of magic while feeding off it. They need to be around magic users to survive!
To bond with a shrineling, one must first find or be shown there shrine. A shrine is unique to each shrineling. A bond is made in one of three ways: taking an item from the shrine, leaving an item, or an even trade of items. Each with a different result! The most common, and most civil, is an even trade.
Shrinelings are born from their crystals, or shrines. These crystals from in areas of concentrated, becoming like magnets to further draw the magic in. As the crystal grows the spirit is born, eventually leaving to have it's own physical form. A shrineling may stay as a spirit for as long as it likes, and can observe the world around it through "shrine-colored glasses". A shrineling can not form any bond while a spirit, nor can the shrine be moved. After leaving, the shrineling can only return to spirit form after dying.
Unless the shrine is destroyed, a shrineling never truly dies. Should their physical body die, the spirit returns to the shrine to reform. The power of the shrineling determines whether they come back as who they used to be or someone new. The stronger the shrineling the more "permanent" they are.

Appearance
Shrinelings, as stated, can change between humanoid, feral, or in between. They all have at least one plant growing from their bodies, with rare shrinelings acting as living gardens! They also have huldra-like 'holes' on their backs, nicknamed windows. These reflect a scene that is a clue to where their shrine is hidden.
The last key feature is their shrine! Each is unique to the shrineling, and has a collection of trinkets of past partners. The shrines are made of crystal or stone, and can be nearly any shape! See below for an example & the species mascot!
Base Traits
- "Window" on back.
- Shrine of crystal or stone.
- At least one flower growing from hair/fur. Can be a few flowers or a mass of them, there's no limit to how much their flower covers.
- Tail of some sort.
- Mammalian animal base.*
*Tail & non-human ears are always there. Legs can be human or animal.
Uncommon Traits
- Reptile or avian influence.
- Insect influence.
- Oversized horns compared to base animal.
- Greenery rather than flowers.
- 1 extra plant (greenery or flower).
Rare Traits
- Aquatic influence.
- Horns when base animal has none.
- 2 extra plants (greenery or flowers).
- Extra "windows".

Dictionary
Partner - one on equal standing with a shrineling. When a shrineling and another trade objects, they form an equal partnership. Sometimes the partner is called a Bride or Groom instead.
Master - one that holds power over a shrineling. When an object is taken from a shrine, but nothing is left in its place, the magic user becomes lord over the shrineling. This is the most unstable of bonds, as the shrineling cannot feed off the user, and will slowly wither.
Servant - one that serves under a shrineling. When a magic user leaves a gift to the shrine, but doesn't take anything in return. The shrineling can still feed off their magic, but the magic user does not get a significant boost in power.
Trinket - Item left to shrine, it acts as the key to bonding with a shrineling.
OPENING EVENT!
COMMON Shrinelings are always free to make! These designs cannot be sold, only traded.
To kick off the species, I'm doing an opening event for special traits!
If you'd like uncommon or rare traits, help promote the species! Tagging someone (don't spam someone you don't think will be interested) will get you an uncommon trait. You can only do this for one trait! For a rare trait, you'll need to post. There's a twist, though! While I do want you to link back to this post, I want you to share your vision too! If you add in a WIP, sketch, or even finished version of your design to the post, you can have two rare traits plus one uncommon! The posted design is not set in stone, should you want to change it before submitting for approval that is ok!
For the uncommon & rare trait MYOs, there is currently no deadline.
TO REITERATE:
Tag a user to get 1 UNCOMMON TRAIT Share this journal w/ a wip or finished shrineling design for 2 RARE TRAITS & 1 UNCOMMON TRAIT Both options can be done, but only once for each! Traits can be split between different MYOs, however.Click here to view the trait list & general appearance.
EVENT SPECIAL TRAITS
Surprise, there's more to this event! This is for special event traits, which do have a deadline! You have until September 30th.
This event is a drawing event! Finish your MYO in the time period and you can use up to TWO event traits. You can use two on one shrineling or you can draw two different shrinelings with one event trait each. You can combine either option with trait upgrades above, given the final MYO is done within the time limit.
How to get approved!
Follow these steps to have your shrineling approved!
- Complete any steps for extra and/or event traits.
- Comment on this or the devianart journal saying you are participating.
- Submit on discord, deviantart, or by DMing me here with an image & traitlist.
