Recently sorta (long story) got diagnosed with carpal tunnel and I really need advice on some things

1. Wrist braces
I got really conflicting advice online on whether I should wear a wrist brace or not… I have a soft one that barely does anything as I still can move my hand around casually with it. So I bought a new stiffer one, but it hurts when I keep it on! I like it being sturdy but wow it can hurt. I’m really not sure what I should do as some sites say wrist braces can make things worse.

2. Pain relief
I was prescribed some pain relief by the doctor and I’m a bit anxious to take them because I’m worried that I will not be able to tell I’m doing something wrong if I can’t feel it… I know this is a bid ridiculous but ahhh 

My affected wrist is the left one so i can still do things just avoid using my left, but man the discomfort is so unbearable sometimes.. but I can’t just stop doing everything cold.
