I've noticed a bit of a trend lately with having ocs that have multiple forms. I think the idea is super cute because its fun to see how a design looks on different species.
Does it seem copy-catty to have an oc with the same idea?
Do you think its weird to have so many forms of the same character, especially closed species?
I've been debating about doing it myself, but I'm also not sure. I also wouldn't know which oc to do it for. I was thinking Ruki, but his design might be a bit difficult to transfer to other species??
Is there anyone else you'd like to see as another species? I feel like he's one that would be easiest but wehhh idk I cry
I could do Beta, one of my oldest ocs.

I think the only issue there would be with that is the fact so many similar designs based off the same chara exist, but only if you were to wanna trade them later off xD which you really can't and would have to be stuck with them all forever I guess lol unless trading every one of them as a package deal. No one wants a chara that looks just like another that exists and is owned by someone else xDD But ofc otherwise I don't see a problem with that and tbh have been thinking of maybe trying that too recently but not too sure yet haha

Yeah, I feel like it would be a requirement to trade/sell all designs as a unit, otherwise it wouldn't really be fair. But if I were going to do it, it would be for a design I never planned to part with, mostly for those reasons. I haven't decided either lmfao orz

Well, as someone who has one of those (lol) I can say it's kind of exciting!! But Also don't force it just on any design, I think -- with mine, he's a deity, and at his most primal, original state is primarily just a mass of energy with no real form, so he takes whatever the heck form he wants depending on where he goes.
And like Malli said, shape-shifting has been around for so long as a concept that it's honestly nothing people should get upset over. I mean, even without thinking about the ones I've seen, I thought, "hey, maybe this guy could be some sort of deity and shapeshift" and then it went from there -- it's not a very "unique" concept in the sense that we could really pinpoint one person that started it.
Honestly, the only real issue that I can think of, though, is if later down the line you felt you might want to trade or resell the thing. Logically and to be fair, it would make the most sense to have all forms go with it, but then you run into the chance of the person not wanting more than one species form, and they just scrap the rest -- which would suck. That's really the only complication I can think of.

Yee. I am def going to explore this idea more. Maybe flesh out some kind of story before I dive into getting more designs n shit for an oc n u n/ Thanks for the advice!

I'm still not sure if I'm gonna do it, but maybe I'll get another custom that I plan to turn into a shapeshifter or something cx Perhaps it just wasn't meant to be with anyone I currently have~
