Happy 2024!

Love that I type this without anything to say. I don't normally socialize on Toyhouse, but I do have a tab of it open pretty much every time I'm at a computer. This truly is just The Looking At Images site for me.

How have you all been? Good New Year? Any resolutions? I pretty much made a whole action plan, but there are a few specific things I hope to accomplsih this year. We'll see how they go. I miss drawing, but that missing ultimately doesn't result in the act of sitting down to draw. I'm going to see what comes my way this year, art-wise. I did get into crochet! Wearing a scarf I crocheted as I type this. Very satisfying to hold a physical product in my hands. I hope that is something I keep building on! I moved out last summer, and keeping occupied has so far been a lifesaver for me. I'm learning a lot about what it means for me to feel fulfilled in life. It's a work in progress.

Finally found an organisation of my characters I feel happy with. Rest assured that they still live rent-free in my mind plenty, haha.

Alright, that should be all. Love to see you all around and notice what your characters have been up to. Have a good one!

Happy new year to you too!

Hope you can get an enjoyable job! It really does so much in terms of life satisfaction. Hard to get there, but so worth it if you can.

I was hoping a portable tablet would help, but art has still been very sporadic! Ah well, gotta let it happen when it happens, I suppose, no point forcing anything.

Crochet is really relaxing, and not too difficult once you get the hang of the motions! I hope so too, it would be fun to finish more projects as the year goes on!

Thanks <3 Good luck with system stuff! It can be tricky to figure out, but sooo nice once it all clicks into place. The best thing ever, so true!

Always lovely to hear from you, too! <3 I really do miss drawing... I'm trying not to put too much stock into potentially changing it cause (vague hand gesture) who knows, right? But we can only try! As long as I draw A Thing every month, that's already a lot for me haha.

Crochet really is relaxing! And thanks, it is so much fun to sort characters!

Love you too! Always a joy to see you in various places <3 Proud of you pursuing your internship also, it sounds so cool!

Hi, I don't see you in a while so how's it going? The new organization of the characters is pretty cool and creative! My plans for this year are to draw with more frequency, keep writing my stories that I started doing it last year, return to look for an internship/job for my biological sciences degree in uni and focus in working in my mental health too ;w;

Hey hey Lucy! I've been okay, ups and downs, how are you doing? Thank you ^^ Those sound like good resolutions! Good luck with the internship/job hunt, that can be difficult but I'm crossing my fingers for you! Mental health is always a good goal, as well! I'm trying to take care of mine too. It's not unlike tending to a zoo animal, haha.

I'm having some ups and downs too, but it's nothing too bad. Recently, I don't know where I'm gonna post my art anymore, because I'm barely getting likes and feedbacks in general on Instagram after they changed the algorithm... And thank you for your support and kind words, I really appreciate them! 🤎🤎

Yeah,,, I've sorta,,,, stopped making as much art, I have no idea where I would even post it if I was making more of it again! But oh well. And no problem, you deserve it!

Honestly, I think you should go for Bluesky, Tumblr and TikTok, their algorithm works better than Instagram now in my opinion. While DeviantArt is full of NFTS and Ai "art" (and recently they showed support to Israel too...), Twitter/X is a huge toxic place and is slowly dying thanks to Elon Musk.

I've not gotten a lot of engagement on Tumblr (which is fine, I just throw into the void and then leave, Tumblr is more for shitpost blogging) but I can promise you I will not touch Tiktok with a five foot pole haha nothing about that platform appeals to me and I make still art, I have no desire to try and turn them into videos. And yeah, I haven't posted art on Twitter in forever either. I only post on DA to archive my stuff and keep it in one place, but I hate the direction the platform has been taking for years now.

I appreciate the suggestions but I'm not really... looking to find a social media anymore, honestly! I'll always miss the golden age of DeviantArt, but what do I get out of online engagement from strangers anymore? I'm trying to make more of a life offline, and it's been hard and not always easy, but it feels like the right thing to do. I just don't have it in me to invest in an online place and try to build an audience anymore, especially with how low my art output is nowadays.

Oh the new organization is great! inspires me to work on my own mess of characters, i've got a lot of stuff to update.. I also keep coming back here aimlessly, maybe because it reminds me of old dA in some ways. been also slowly getting into plush making and traditional art, i can confirm holding something that you made is a unique feeling!!

Ohhh, glad it inspires you! Would love to see how you organize things! I think you may be spot on - god I miss old DA. It really was an online home to me. This isn't the same - I don't talk to people here, really, while I still have so many bonds that are a remnant from my DA days (like you!) - but it has that coziness and my blorbos are here <3

PLUSH making that's so cool, do you have pictures of them anywhere?

Did a few changes on my folders! still planning a few more but for now it's fine^^ and saaaame I miss it a lot.. and yes!! focusing on organizing the blorbos is great^^
Oh i dont have any photos online! i can send on discord though^^

OOOO they look lovely so far! Really fun!

Feel free to send photos anytime, I'd love to see it!

Happy new year! This new organisation system is very sweet! ^^ It's nice to see old sonas and old arpgs be preserved... :)

And congrats on moving out! I hope your place becomes ever-more cozy <3 My goal for this year is to pick up some teacher training for employment... little steps toward independence haha

Thank you Luca!!

I hope so too, I'm trying my best <3 Oooh, best of luck on the training! That sounds good! Any step is a good step, haha.
