MALA/MEDYO/SPRITE BOOKLING LORE

Posted 7 years, 7 months ago by Cappuchi

MALA = short for Malaki; in the tagalog language it stands for big or large
and under this class there are three subclasses.

the purpose of each subclass reflects how books can either help us learn (Ancients), shape our views into one (Royals), or simply frighten us (Monsters)...

ANCIENTS || strength in knowledge...

information
fit to pass knowledge from generation to generation... that is what the Ancient booklings follow and carry out. Their grasp on information is vast and sharp. They are literally a fountain of information that shouldn't be trusted in the hands of mankind. In fear that their knowledge and powers can be used for evil, Ancients select a disciple amongst the lower classed booklings (Sprites / Medyos) and then carry out their teachings onto them.

Take it as an example of revisions done in a bible or text book, each year they produce a new book but with more chunks of information as the years go by. This is basically the cycle of Ancients.

Powerful in magic however they are huge pacifists and avoid battle with other humans, this may change however depending on the situation.

strengths
- knowledge knowledge knowledge
- future vision
- magic that may be capable of alternating reality, time travelling, etc.
- telekinesis

physical identification
- they are the tallest amongst all booklings under the Mala class.
- scriptures, runes, hieroglyphics, etc are shown on most limbs.
- colors vary however most older booklings grow to have dull palettes
tail: (common) surpasses body length, has 1 or more tassel decor, decor is complex
arms: (common) surpass feet ; (uncommon) at knee length

ROYALS || strength in numbers...

information
They are adorned with jewelry that makes them stand out from most booklings to the point where they are often worshiped by both booklings and humans. They do not hold much knowledge as well as Ancients but their powers to will anyone into submission is quite appalling.

They strive to build 'colonies' and are meant to be served, these hive minds recruit as many as they can until they have accumulated enough resources to maintain their colony. They may take in lower classed booklings (Medyos/Sprites) or humans if they'd like.

strengths
- mind control
- visual appeal
- telekinesis

physical identification
- their bodies are often adorned with jewelry and gems
- colors are often bright and captivating
tail: (common) surpasses body length, has more that 1 tassel decor, decor is complex
arms: (common) surpass feet ; (uncommon) at knee length, ends are rounded

MONSTERS || strength in fear...

information
Medyo booklings with masters/owners who have abused them to do inhumane things, as well as pushing their sanity at the very edge may pose a danger in the other end. Constant exposure to ill doings can result a bookling to lose the humble servile part of themselves.. and be replaced with a more cynical and sadistic nature.

They soon become more independent as their powers manifests and is exerted only when something wicked comes to mind. Their shape shifting abilities became more obscure to where it reflects a person's fear which also happens to be their source of energy, thus earning their name 'Monster Booklings'. Their actions are unpredictable and their mental stability is questionable.

Their prowess is similar to that of a Royal when it comes to recruitment of minions (Sprites and Medyos) to further spread chaos and corruption towards others as a form of rebellion against mankind. However not all Monsters may have the same goal in mind, their course of actions are unpredictable.

strengths
- illusions
- shape shifting

physical identification
- appearance are rugged, feral, and wild
- colors are often dull and striking
- patterns may be grotesque
tail: (common) surpasses body length, has more that 1 tassel decor, decor is complex
arms: (common) surpass feet ; (uncommon) at knee length, clawed/zigzag

Those who aren't under the Mala class are often referred to as Medyo

MEDYO = in the tagalog language means middle or half

MEDYOS || . . .

information
as the name states, they are basically in the 'middle' of a Mala and a sprite. They can be taken after by humans or other higher up booklings. They are naturally curious creatures and easily influenced.

strengths
- differs on all booklings
- quick learners
- servile

physical identification
- hieght similar to humans
- slim/lean
tail: (common) down to feet, has 1 tassel decor; (uncommon) surpass feet / body length (rare) surpass body
arms: (common) at knee ; (uncommon) at feet; (rare) surpass feet / body length

SPRITES || . . .

information
Booklings often resort to this small form for the sake of being more easily carried for their owners/masters. And in this form they are definitely more mobile and energetic now that their magic isn't used to maintain their much larger forms (applies for Medyo and Mala booklings).

strengths
- agile

physical identification
- very small and chubby looking (basically chibi forms)
- all rarities are reflected onto the sprites version
