my cat might have ringworm :/

Posted 2 months, 3 days ago by lazyydayy

my cat Oreo (we didn’t name him that i swear, we got him from a shelter and he responds to his name so we can’t change it) has a vet appointment today for suspected ringworm :// he has a patch on his back with no fur and it looks nasty,, he won’t stop itching either

that by itself is awful enough, but i’m pretty sure that Trixie ALSO has ringworm, because she has a similar patch on her back that she won’t stop itching either (she has an appointment tomorrow at 9am)

and ringworm is a highly contagious fungus and it spreads to EVERY LIVING CREATURE so the fact that all of us are also itchy means that we probably have it too :’’)

the only way to get rid of it is to wash EVERYTHING with hot water, including the couches, all surfaces, any clothing, etc.

Oreo is allowed to roam in our backyard (fenced in) so he probably got it from outside,, hopefully it won’t continue to cause issues because this SUUUUCKS OMG

anyways i might not be on much this weekend because of all the craziness,, but i will still try to be active!! i’m addicted to this site no lie

Crossing my fingers that it's not ringworm and something FAR more mild! You seem to have a lot going on lately, just know we are all here :)

Hoping that Oreo and Trixie are doing better.

thank you so much, that genuinely means a lot <33

(if you’re curious, i put the vet visit info in the spoiler)

the vet took a sample to send to the lab (it’ll take 2 weeks to find out if it’s ringworm or not) but they also did a swab and said that they found bacteria and yeast, so he has some topical meds for now but if they find out it’s ringworm, every single one of our pets needs to be treated for it ;-;

of course! also, yikes. sounds like a lot of work that may have to be done. that's good that he has some meds, but in the meantime you should probably keep him away from everyone else. 2 weeks is quite a long time
