Nightmares....

Posted 7 years, 2 months ago by Grima

I'm a bit concerned about the increase of nightmares I have been experiencing. Does anyone have any tips on how to alleviate this? I used to suffer from really bad episodes of sleep paralysis, but now those kinds of things are, to my relief, much less common now.

The bad dreams that have been plaguing me are fortunately forgotten most of the time, but they are quite distressful when they are still vivid in those first few moments of waking. Parts that I can remember still kind of stress me out, and I really hope this clears up soon. A peaceful, uninterrupted sleep would be very nice.

You're more likely to get nightmares and have more intense dreams like that when you've been sleep deprived, but the nightmares also often reflect things going on in your mind. Like for example, if you have a problem that seems unsolvable that you've been running away from, you might dream about something chasing you. Or if you worry about feeling vulnerable, you might dream about loosing your clothes and having to find them. Sometimes these things are symbolic and represent your thoughts, and other times they may just be directly related with no symbolism at all, like realizing you had mismatching socks, and then in the dream you notice you're wearing mismatching socks.

So I think one step to relieving the nightmares is relieving and clearing the anxiety that's involved, whether it be therapy, taking medicine, or some other solution.

That is very true! I wish I could make better sense of these weird nightmares, but perhaps it is better if I fail to remember most of them. If they were simple, they'd be easier to analyze. I'll definitely have to look more into all of this.

I'm so sorry to hear that you have to go through stressful things like that. I hope things get easier for you! ;A;

Back when my SP was really bad, I started to get apprehensive about taking medicine when I read that the side effects of some actually increase the frequency of episodes, but I would be ever so grateful to find something that helps. My lack of sleep has been negatively affecting my heart, and I should really get everything taken care of ;w;

Thank you so much for the advice; I really appreciate it! I hope that everything starts looking up for you <3

Oh no! I hope you'll be okay! If you ever feel sad or stressed out and need someone to talk to, I'm here to listen and help however I can!

I see! I'll try my best to do that and hope that everything works out. Seeing a counselor about this would really help, and I'm sure that if I tell them what I'm worried about when it comes to medicine, they can find something suitable to help the problem. Thank you again for the advice! I will definitely look into this!
