Back when my SP was really bad, I started to get apprehensive about taking medicine when I read that the side effects of some actually increase the frequency of episodes, but I would be ever so grateful to find something that helps. My lack of sleep has been negatively affecting my heart, and I should really get everything taken care of ;w;

Seeing a counselor about this would really help, and I'm sure that if I tell them what I'm worried about when it comes to medicine, they can find something suitable to help the problem.
