Hey um- stupid question butIs there a way to make the image of the character be scaled down to the correct size? No matter what I do- It's too big
It should scale to the preset size of the column. If you can show me the page you're having trouble with I'd have a better idea of how to help.

If you add this right after where you enter the image url (after the ;), then that should fix it:
background-size: contain;
