I was thinking something like OP was here, actually, but I see your point. Aligning with those ideas is a choice when it comes to full grown old men like that and should be ridiculed. However, personally, I believe that our goal should be to guide such misguided people back into the light if we are still able to. Yes, you may want to punch them, but it’s better to have someone change forever for the better and then fight for good than to let your anger out on them. Usually what happens from that is that they get rancorous and just seek revenge by becoming more extreme. That’s not what we want. Maybe I’m too much of a pacifist or a naive Pollyanna but I think redemption is the only true way to solve the problem. Yes, some people will never allow themselves to be helped, and those, you give up on. But I guess that’s why I wouldn’t really shout at someone. Many, especially kids, are in harmful ideas only because their parents or other family members push that on them: they are not evil, but misguided in this case. Serve as a role model to them and they can change for the better - I just know it.
