Hi!! I’m sorry for the late reply, it‘s been busy so it took me a bit to get my answers typed out ^^’ I’m totally happy to answer your questions though!!

How long have you been doing art/animation for? Your art is so legendary and the colors you use are extraordinary!
—Aaa Tysm!! I’ve been drawing since I was little (2 or 3ish), and I got into animation around 6 or 7 years ago I think.

Do you have any art tips for me? I've been doing digital art for 2 years and have a lot of room to improve!
—I think the best tip I can give is to use reference, both from real life and from other artists. Don’t copy ofc, but find several different pieces and photos from different sources that you like and learn from each of them. It’s very helpful to have a visual aid/some extra inspiration, especially from sources that you enjoy.

Do you think you can critique my most recent art? If you can, that's amazing! It's a realistic piece, and I think there's something missing in it- possibly duller colors- but I'm not too sure and want to know what you think!
—I really like the fur texturing you used, and the tree shapes are also really nice! I think I would suggest playing around with the lighting, as that can be a major factor in the realism of something. You could try some different lighting colors, and deepening the shadows might help the character to stand out more as well. Finding reference images with a similar lighting to what you want could be helpful for that. I think this is a really great piece though!

Do you have any tips for creating sonas/main characters that you can actually get attached to? I'm having trouble with that part.
—The characters I’ve gotten most attached to are ones that are based around things I like. For example: my oc Io is an alien harpy who travels space stealing things. She was inspired by Lupin III and Guardians of the Galaxy (since I liked both of those at the time). I had also seen a lot of harpy artwork on Pinterest and that inspired me as well. She’s one of my favorite characters of mine bc she’s centered around things and concepts that I love.

I would suggest pretty much the same thing for sonas, it might also help to put aspects of yourself (physical or personality-wise) or your life in them. For example: Poem is a deer because I get a lot of deer around my house, she has glasses like me, and her fur is a similar color to my hair. Her main outfit was inspired by a character from a video game that I really like.

So yeah basically just putting aspects of things that you love into your characters helps a lot :]

Are your art trades open and would you be willing to do one with me? I'd most likely do either another scene or an icon- both being realistic, of course!
—My art trades are closed at the moment; college, commission work, and other things have made it a bit difficult for me to work on things like art trades lately. I can totally ping you if I open them again though!

How do you work with natural colors? I tend to use bright-ish colors and I want to expand my horizon- y'know?
—Sometimes if I want colors to be a bit less bright I put a layer of orange or yellow over the top, and then I mess with the settings until I’m happy with it. Like this!

I hope this is helpful! Sorry again for taking a long time to reply

It's alright!

Thank you so much for answering my questions! :0 It seriously means a lot to me, and I will use these tips the best I can!
