Jack lowered the axe he'd been using to make firewood with. He looked up at Yuè. Then smiled.
"My friend!" He said. His tone wavered with relief as he let go of the axe, kicked his new cut log aside and made his way over to the schooler. "I-" he held out his hand. As if he wanted to shake his best friend's hand. Then rethought and hugged him. A strong embrace.
"I did. But don't apologize," he said before slowly letting go. "I'm just glad you're back. I can make us some coffee? Tea," he paused. Jack's tea was made out of the most watery and tasteless herbs. It was quite (in)famous for it's bad taste.
He looked up when the other gave him the flask. Jack's blackened nails ticked softly on the iron as he took over the pitcher.
"That's fantastic," he said. Pricking up his ears. Jack never really believed in magic, so it came to no surprise that he'd directly tried the flask out. He drank. Removed the flask and peered inside. Oh!
Yuè was right! The flask did refill himself.

"I got you something as well," Jack said. "It's not magical."
Jack removed a small necklace her was wearing. A bone hung from it. No, a flute! "It is made from a chicken's bone. it's a whistle. The .. sound is sharp and keeps me away when I…" Pause. "you know," he flicked his hand dismissively. "I carved it myself."
