I wanna know about some of your Ball Jointed Doll hobbies or art dolls! I personally am a doll face up artist and am looking to get my own BJD soon! (preferably a Kikipop)
This thread is for irl BJDs, plushies, OOAKs and dolls ONLY! If you have a character who's a BJD with no irl doll, that does not count. If you have a character who got MADE into a BJD, it counts.

my collection is pretty slow to grow, but I've got a bit of a list I want--I like to think they're all friends, or at least know each other, so i mostly want MSDs. it's hard to interact when you're all different sizes ....
i've got a dollmore kid renee, and a little monica little harmony bear! sirius (the renee, on the left) i've had for almost ten years; emery (the bear, on the right) for under a year. i also have a volks school head A, but he's a chunky SD and not so much my style any more (i've also had him for almost ten years) so I'm not sure what to do with him. additionally i picked up a Doll In Mind bryony head when they were closing for good, he still needs a faceup and a body ^^'
i took a long break from the hobby but its nice to be back! i only wish i had more time to invest in learning to make them little clothes lol.
I own four art dolls! All animals, all fully-poseable, all expensive and all worth it. <3
I currently only have two of their pages up, I'm working on one currently and the other I will... get to eventually. lmao
I was hoping there'd be some BJD stuff here! Dustin is my current and first doll. I have two more I'm paying off currently, a DC Bella and a LoongSoul NuanNuan (discontinued sculpt), and I hope to get another real soon!

Ive been wondering what the best way to get custom bjd's is? I have a boy that i'd die for a really well made one but ive never known how to get into it. Its a ok to ping me, id love to get a discussion going!

Kree-Kat If you're looking for custom resin BJDs I think that would be super hard ;w;" I know that some people on instagram take commissions to paint and possibly modify dolls (I do it too) you just need to send your doll to the artist's way and they'll fix your desired doll up. If you just don't what type doll to get I suggest looking online for "male bjds" and trying to find the name for a specific doll you like and going from there.
Kree-Kat Is it just the head you’d need or the whole body? Most custom doll ANYTHING makers just do heads. Check out Doll In Mind (DIM) MiniMees. They’re custom heads. I know someone else does custom heads but I forget who. Den of Angels is a FABULOUS resource for this sort of thing.
goldneko Thank you so much! That character means the world to me as my life parallels his so much, minus the ancient royalty aspect. He NEEDED to be a doll. I’m super glad they had him in a smaller “fashion size” FID. Would you believe that’s an Our Generation horse he’s riding? I just had its terrible plastic hair changed out and a custom saddle and bridle set matching the show, made for him. The scale is near PERFECT! 4th Prince Wang So is life. ;_______;

thanks a lot for the advice! ive been poking around a little bit and looking at different kinds of options. It's been very fun! Ive deffo found that its kinda hard to find one thats smiling or smirking, seems to be kinda rare for all the serious faces lol
@kreekat Depending on what kind of smile or smirk you're looking for, there are a few dolls that have that and look really good. I can't think off the top of my head which ones they are. Are you on Den of Angels (DoA)? People post "Show me your smirking dolls!" kinds of posts to find out which sculpts have those kinds of faces. It's supremely helpful, and you can put up your own question for sculpt style if you don't see a question already for it. I can't stress DoA enough as a resource.
You know, maybe we should make a glossary of BJD terms and stick it in your first post so we can help everyone interested in the hobby know what the various terms mean, like SD, MSD, YoSD, faceup, and so on. We can also add helpful links like DoA to help people find more info than the scope of this thread is meant to supply.

HidetoKoudanshi Thank you for finding the link for me! I've watched three episodes so far! I didn't expect him to just toss her off his horse like that. xD Right now, I think my favorite is the female lead since she has a fun personality but that might change after a few more episodes. I feel really conflicted about Wang So... ;v; Didn't his actor also star in Iljimae? That was one of my favorite K-dramas!
Edit: I've watched up to episode 8 now and I've become even more conflicted about who to ship... (╥_╥)
