What's the weirdest thing you've done for art?

what's the weirdest thing you've done for art? this counts more than just drawing- music, 3d art, whatever.

me, i once spent like 10 minutes filming several takes of me dropping a handful of deer teeth on a pile of smiley sticker sheets in my room. art is like that sometimes.

Not so weird but I must look l daft when I'm taking selfies of my hands for reference. It just so happens that the windows in the kitchen (which backs onto the street) are easier to work with when taking reference photos than any of the actual mirrors in the house lmao.

Possibly smearing liquid makeup on a pane of glass for a self portrait assignment in college.

For art history class, we were studying performance art, and the teacher wanted us to do our own video perfomances. I filmed myself ripping a bunch of pages from a manga, rolling them together, lighting it up and smoking it.

The teacher really loved it, I got a 9.

(I used a terrible manga I won on a giveaway so nothing important was lost if you were wondering).

Nifffi smoke weeb am i right ahaha

Couldn't have said it better lol

Last semester I grinded up a bunch of yarn into fluff & glued it onto a paper mache mound thingy w/tentacles coming out of it?? Lets just say it was a mess, my hands hurted after prepping all that yarn, and clean-up ended up with a clogged sink

using chopsticks to pick poisonous plants so i could put them in resin jewelry. I'm glad no one saw me do it, bc it must have looked pretty strange

(i used the chopsticks bc i didnt want to aconite to make my hands go numb lmao)

I cut open a doll's head so I can put eye in. Also I stuck doll heads on sticks to let them dry and to hold them better

developed a habit 4 drinking lukewarm water -- singers are messed up bro

Zeetheus oh that sounds really cool. reminds me of when i made a lamp and glued broken cds on it for tech class. i broke them just with my hands which wasn't very good for my skin but oh well

Use one of those art things where there is wheel and you put a canvas on the wheel and spin it around and put paint on it and it makes paint go everywhere. Me and my friend did a bunch and they all turned out brown, so we gave them to our friends. Also we finger painted sing the paint.

(if you know what those are called please tell me.)

Oh boy....

~Set some paper on fire with a match over the kitchen sink

~Drenched said paper in coffee, which I don't even drink

~Dipped a bunch of marbles in acrylic paint, put a piece of cardstock paper in a shoebox, put the marbles into the box with the paper, and rolled around with it - a teacher had challenged me to re-create a Jackson Pollock painting for some reason

~Went without hearing for a bit while snapping photos of my hearing devices (idek)

~Gotten probably dangerously close to feral cats for photos

~Made myself dizzy rolling down a hill with a GoPro

~Glued random bits of cardboard and burlap to wood (scene building)

~Let a friend use me as a mannequin while she used a cheese grater to roughen up a trenchcoat.

~Attacked some brambles while wearing said trenchcoat

~Weirdest thing I've done to get art: played in a DnD campaign, and the art is the best I've ever received IMO

i forgot i made this thread. let's see more people have stories to share now

i hung a vhs tape from a vcr with string and tape. i took a photo of my hands clasped together with a dsi. i wish i didn't delete it, because that's impressive. i'm in the habit now of buying any dinky little toy keyboard i find while thrifting because 1. they're cute 2. i want to try circuit bending. i recorded audio of my windshield wipers for potential music because they were louder than usual? i used my phone as a lightbox. maybe some of these aren't that weird but i find fun and pride in determinedly making good art with limited or unusual resources.
