I would love to know what TH people like and care about and when it comes to style overall. If you got 1-2 minutes, take the survey. 🐍 I'll share results here in a few weeks.

(optional) Is there a specific platform where your favorite style is on a lot/ you use to follow artists you love most? Do you maybe associate said platform with the style/ or see it more compared to elsewhere?

This question got 58 responses, of which some are just a no or not really as well as other one-word responses. But I'm going to list a few of them (not all) that give some insight and opinions.

  • "honestly? not really. my preferences are so niche that i hardly ever see styles in any significant capacity on social media"
  • "Furaffinity shows me art I love most. A lot of detail, clean work and high effort illustrations. I don't browse all too much but if I browse, I browse there."
  • "Pinterest mainly, but that's because the algorithm is tailored to my interests lmao."
  • "not particularly active on social media, so not really! ive seen lots of rly nice styles on twitter but i barely ever go on there for the sake of my own wellbeing; i've found a lot of really great artists on toyhouse though; it's way easier to find and support smaller artists since i can find em easier! social media isnt kind to artists unless theyre wickedly popular lol, thats old news tho"
  • "Twitter, Toyhouse. I do not use Twitter often, I like artists I meet in real life or otherwise observe in person."
  • "No. The artists I fav tend to have something in their style that strikes me as special to their work, but they may not match commission style preferences. My preferred style for receiving art depends on the character I’m getting art for. Some characters want realism to capture them best. some are fine with being cartoons or don’t care how they’re drawn."
  • "Instagram and Twitter as well have artists who have a style that’s a mix of 2000-2010s and modern stuff that I absolutely adore and take inspiration from"
  • "Pixiv n twitter but I don't necessarily associate these platforms with the styles I like, just tends to be where some of my fave artists go to. In fact my favorite artists tend to not have a social media presence or very limited social media presence"
  • "I’m a Tumblr diehard but I think the stuff I like (cartoony and semi-realistic work, often involving robots) is mixed in alongside a lot of other work that I’m neutral toward."
  • "used to be Twitter and still somewhat, there were a lot of artists on there, and most were cartoon/Realism mixed but I still do see the platform as that even if it's gone bad."
  • "(I also want to mention that I find it difficult to pinpoint exactly what attracts me to a persons art as I like a variety of different styles for many reasons, whether the artist uses colours very nicely, or if their drawings have a lot of emotion in it. I would say that it does genuinely depend on the overall "vibe" of the style/art. But overall I like it when I can see a drawing and recognize it as being drawn by a specific artist, hence why I selected my least favourite style as hyper-realistic. I like seeing artists use their own styles and have their own ways of doing things. I hope this wasn't too rambly or bothersome lol, I just wanted to expand more on my feelings of different art styles)"
  • "Probably Artstation, though I don't have an account. I really love everything art and art theory and like to think I know a lot about it, so I love pieces that make me appreciate all the hard work that went into them!"
  • "I follow artists on art sites in general, and have no interest in following them on social media"
  • "i spend most of the time on toyhouse so yeah there, i haven't found much like super cool styles on other places. although twitter is a close second that place is going to absolute shit"

Most people don't connect styles or art to the platforms and find what they like on the platforms they actively use. Most commonly are: twitter, toyhouse, pinterest, deviantart, instagram and tumblr. Other sites that are also liked but not as common within the responses are Pixiv, Art Station, Furaffinity, youtube, itch io, Tiktok, artrenewal, newgrounds, skeb, bluesky, vgen and ych.commishes.

Yippee it's very interesting

Vallien_Fulki

- interesting that a majority are adults
- the anime artstyle has a large % on both fave/least fave
- a lot picked hyper realism as a least fave, I agree with them

as for the 1st optional: if I don't want to commission an artist it's because is not an art style I want but I want to support em, I donate instead if that's an option they provide
This is the answer I would give if I had that option
