Hello! I come from another site that is much more in-depth with their forums. One area they have that I wish they had here is an art chatter section, not for selling but for general art-related conversation. My favorite thread in there was the "what did you draw today" thread. It was fun seeing other people's daily drawings and a fun way to try and motivate myself to draw at least something every day. On Toyhouse, while it's art based, sometimes you might want to draw something other than an OC you have on site but still post it somewhere. Sometimes you want to share that silly scribbly thing you spent 4 hours on but not on DA or Instagram (or whatver you post on). So yeah, here's a place to drop your daily doodles!
-Art doesn't have to be fully finished. WIPs and sketches are totally cool to share!
-There doesn't need to be conversation if people don't want it. Feel free to just post your art of the day and run. Conversely, if you want to chatter it's more than welcome, especially if you want to discuss anything relevant to the drawing process :)

So I've been kinda wanting to make my drawings look storybook-equse? (If that makes any sense...)
My current idea is to do watercolour shading, and then adding a cloud overlay on top of the drawing, and adjusting as I need.
Here's a small thing I did today just to experiment with that concept:

I sorted my tablet problems and I finished off a sketch for a proper drawing of one of my WW2 era OC's, Jasper.
Jasper's a British Infantry soldier and I usually keep historical OC's in uniform so it's clear they're historical and exist in a different universe to my sci-fi OC's (doesn't stop me from doing what if WW2 era OC's - usually Jasper - ended up in my sci-fi 'verse AU's because it's because how someone would react to being stuck in an alternate reality is really interesting to think about) but I felt the picture worked better with him in civvies.
Jasper's really into photography but still figuring out how stuff like exposure affects the photograph. His film mostly has grainy often overexposed pictures of the frontlines, sometimes he’s able to talk his pals into posing for him for more lighthearted stuff - post war he takes up journalism and gets known for writing dark, satirical yet brutally honest articles. It’s a bit controversial sometimes.
Also should add since it's not terribly clear here, he's missing bit of his left middle finger.
Not much but I started sketching this. I need to fix some things still but it's currently like 1am so tomorrow me can deal with that. I'm pretty happy with how it's turning out so far though. :>
