i made this really convenient story outline in google docs earlier this year and i thought i would share it with you guys. hopefully someone else will get good use out of it. it's specifically angled towards comics but it can be used for novels, animations, and any other creature project that could benefit from an intuitive format

FEATURES:

  • nice, clean, pretty format
  • document outline with stacked headers so you can jump around the doc with one click
  • premade character templates with a space to add icons
  • tips on how to use each section
  • lots of areas to jot down ideas so your document stays organized
  • everything set up so you can start immediately instead of having to set up your own document!
  • it's on google docs, so you can access it from any computer or from mobile(and it's still really easy to navigate on mobile!)

    take a look at the outline, make a copy, and let me know how it works!

    (psst... i made this but it uses the really basic google docs ui so i don't expect credit. please change my image and let me know your thoughts+suggestions for images, and then feel free to use ad infinitum if it works for you)

littlelapin i like this system because you can lay out ideas and expand upon them by going synopsis->outline->(optionally editing the outline 400 times)->script + jotting down anything extra in the notes to use later

i hope it works out for you ^^

Ooh, this looks really cool! I might give it a shot at some point once I get to work on scripting spider's web and the fancomic...

I really love how it's not just this huge wall of text too-

mmechanicat

@aquaparrot thanks!! i tried to build it so it's clean and really flexible to the needs of whoever is using it

Kogami

Ooh, this is really nice! I'm working on a web-novel rn (and may be a webcomic when I have the time and tools/basics for it) and all I do is write simple points of a chapter in a notepad so far, ahah. This is really useful and have things I never consider putting in my story's outline, so thank you!

thank you for creating! Me and a friend will be creating a webcomic soon, so this gives us a way to plan other than the ways we were originally trying to outline

@xXCrimsonSkiesXx

you're so welcome! i hope this tool will be useful to you guys. i think it still gives a lot of flexibility in how you structure your outline while also providing a built-in system of revising story beats/etc. i would love to hear updates on how your webcomic is going so feel free to comment back later and promo your progress!

i started using this for a project that ive been trying to write/plan for over three years, and this is so much easier than anything ive tried??? like the character bios are short and sweet so you dont get caught up in detail, the arc section is super helpful and hhhh i love,,, thank you so much for uploading this ;w;
