Basic info about Vampires will be updated as we go along.

Vampires and Wood
Vampires try their hardest to not come in contact with wood. If so much as a single splinter enters their skin, they will become vulnerable as a human to fatal wounds. Wood itself will not kill them unless used in a fatal manner.

Vampires and the Sun
Vampires are vulnerable against the sun, and are liable to burst into flames with contact to the sun's light. Richer vampires avoid this fate with magically enchanted objects (usually jewelry), while poorer vampires simply bundle up in layers.

Turning
In order for a vampire to Turn somebody else into a vampire, they have to proceed to do the following;
A) Drink the person's blood
B) Have the person drink their blood
Optional C) Have the person die.

Recreational Vampirism
It is possible to experience what it is like to be a vampire without dying in the Rapture Universe. If someone is turned, but doesn't die, then they can be a Live Vampire. A Live Vampire can consume blood and gain nourishment from it, as well as experiencing the supernatural strength, speed, and senses of a normal vampires.
Live Vampires are sometimes envied by normal vampires because they can turn back into a human. If a Live Vampire doesn't drink any blood and lets the infection work through their system, they are able to turn back into a human as if nothing ever happened. If they die before they are fully human, however, then a Live Vampire will become a normal vampire for the rest of eternity.
The rush of being such a deadly predator is actually available commercially. There are companies and vampire covens that offer this experience for a price. Some even consider it a trial run for true vampirism.

Born Vampires
It is possible for a vampire to have a child if one of the parents is a human. While highly unlikely, this can occur when the female is the vampire. These children will be born as humans and live absolutely normal lives, even experiencing normal puberty. This only lasts, however, until Vampire Puberty.

In a Born vampire's late teens, they will start experiencing their Turn in slow motion, often taking weeks and sometimes months. Their fangs will grow, their vampiric abilities will manifest, and during it all, they will have a near-insatiable bloodlust. (It is not uncommon for normal lust to be off the charts, either.) Once this second transformation is complete, Born Vampires will continue to age until their mid-to-late 20's.

Usually, the covens that these children have been born into will have some sort of plan for when Vampire Puberty hits, but those that have been abandoned by their parents tend to lose control, leading to several casualties before intervention by other supernaturals (usually demons).

Opulence

Vampires are naturally opulent. They will be attracted to material, artistic items that they find beautiful. This can range from everything to jewelry, gems, and paintings. Occasionally, the odd vampire will develop an obsession with things like knick knacks and rocks, fawning over them as if they were absolute masterpieces from the greatest artist on earth.

When they see what they are attracted to, vampires tend to freeze and stare. It can be awkward to watch them stand there, unblinking, but they are taking in every single detail their eyes can land on. They silently marvel at every curve, every brush stroke, every jagged edge. Each slight movement in gaze becomes a new wonder to explore and ponder over, and it's hard to break them from this trance when they are younger.

These attractions can be resisted, though the vampire will likely have to be reminded that the rest of the world exists beyond whatever catches their eye at that moment. Older vampires can reject these attractions outright, but they also tend to have accumulated a lot of wealth over their lifetime; opulence can often be expensive, and that's usually an excuse to avoid giving into it when they're young. But, when they have money to spare, what's a new tapestry or two or fifty?
