Switch Game Reccomendations

Looking for something new to play for a roadtrip. I'd like something with a little meat to it

I've beaten: Smash Ultimate, Let's Go Eevee, Fire Emblem Warriors, Kirby Star Allies

I'm looking into: MHA One's Justice

I'm in the middle of/haven't started: Bayonetta 1/2

physics

hollow knight is an amazing game with satisfying tight controls and a lot of content, if youre into metroidvania type games! the art and music are gorgeous and a sequel is coming out soonish, too. it's a pretty cheap little indie game as well, you can get it from the eshop. definitely my favourite i've played on the switch.

night in the woods is gorgeous as a more slow-paced adventure game about character exploration and growth, heavy and real themes.

Numbers

As long as it isn’t sports games were good, also something with a bit of meat to it. I beat Star allies in 2 days off and on playing so I don’t wanna get bored quickly

Stardew Valley or Breath of the Wild!

There's a ton to do in both, neither require Wi-Fi (since it's for a road trip), and both are super entertaining and work well in handheld mode.

Also, Splatoon 2 is by far the game I've put the most hours into on my Switch so far and is so much fun but it requires Wi-Fi for multiplayer and the story mode is pretty short so I wouldn't recommend it for a road trip :'o

Kattenkvvaad

Not sure if this is the kind of game you're looking for but: Cattails

It's a fun game, though it can get a bit repetitive over time. It's some kind of simulation RPG with cats, and it has cute pixel graphics.

I haven't played Stardew Valley but I know Cattails is often described as "Stardew Valley but with cats"

Although I have yet to finish Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna the Golden Country from what has been experienced it might be up your alley. It is not that long of a game according to reviewers since it is a prologue of the base game Xenoblade Chronicles 2. No worries, you do not the base game to play it, there is a separate version. If you have seen some gameplay or screenshots then, yes, it is that aesthetically pleasing with equally rich characters you can play as. The battle system can be a gamebreaker if you are not used to a coordinated battle system. By that I mean choosing the right time to attempt a combo based on positioning. Be warned! Mistakes are punished harshly in this game. You can even die in the tutorial sequence but once you get a hang of the system you can enjoy the story without stressing much.

charge

botw is so so good (one of my favorite switch games!) but it drains your battery SUPER fast

my favorite offline games on switch right now are octopath traveler, momodora reverie under the moonlight, and moonlighter!

lophiusdragon

if u are able to find one u should try to get a car adaptor to charge ur switch since switch has bad battery life

dark souls is good but some parts of it can be confusing enough that its possible to get stuck without a walk-thru

i needed to use a walk-thru bc i couldnt find one of the first areas

its on sale i think

i have the digital version bc it has a small file size

hollow knight is good too and it does have some similarities to dark souls (strategic combat, dying dark fantasy world, drop currency at location of death) but its much easier to understand

also on sale

another game i havent seen mentioned in this thread is Okami

its a really good game and its also cheap

its a game by the creator of bayonetta

its a port of an older game (from 2006) but it aged well

its basically like zelda (like ocarina of time style zelda) with a painting mechanic

i played it on a long road trip and can confirm it is a good road trip game

it also has a heart-warming story

also on sale

also minecraft but u might have to download lots of updates b4 u go on the road trip

i played this on the road trip too

also monster hunter generations ultimate

this game is also too vague sometimes, like it wont tell u what the required quests are (besides urgent quests), but if u want to do all the quests then u can beat it that way too i guess (some quest types are annoying tho like ones where u have to transport an item without dropping it)

also i recommend doing the tutorials for each weapon to find the one u like

theres also a demo of this game in the eshop and u can try out all the weapon + hunting style combinations and theres 3 monsters/bosses to fight

also on sale i think

if u miss the sale, then buy physical bc a brand new copy of the physical version is cheaper than downloading it (in us physical is $40 and digital is $60)

also stardew valley like what other ppl said

it actually has a shockingly huge amount of content

also on sale

Bidoofs

Seconding the rec for Okami.

It's an absolutely beautiful game full of Japanese mythology where you play as Amaterasu, the wolf goddess of the sun, attempting to save ancient Nippon from the evil Orochi. Only that's just half the plot and it actually goes a LOT further than that. The whole game has this painted, kind of Japanese ink style to it and just looks amazing, plus the soundtrack is absolutely gorgeous. Honestly I can't recommend this game enough!

Fe.

Adventure/puzzle game with beautiful music and a unique artstyle. Bit of a collectathon too.
