I don't care if no one cares about this. I want to see more Pikmin fans. And I might forget about this, but eh.

Yo, welcome to my Pikmin thread. Here, you can talk about Pikmin and such. Why not?

Rules:

1. No fighting or anything of the sort!

2. Every time a Direct or E3 happens, don't go "omg i hope 4 comes out!!1!" and then get upset because 4 didn't come out. I've been through this same old song and dance for years now, almost every fandom member has at some point. So please don't even bring up 4 in this context.

3. Don't bring up Steve (The Trooper), either. Things can get...toxic, with him around. (from my experience...)

Free questions to fill out:

"Favorite game?"

"Best area?"

"Is CharliexRubber Duck a good ship?"

Have fun.

@Numbers
Nice and yeah. But I can't go there because of something that happened in another server with a lot of people who happened to be on both servers. Not gonna go into detail, though. But thanks for the idea lol.

I know I'm a bit late, but aaaaaa! I'm so happy this thread exist, since I'm a huge fan of Pikmin and its fandom is so smaller than most of Nintendo!
It's my second favorite videogame series of all time, after Super Mario, so I want to fill your questionary because it has some interesting questions! ;v;

"What was your first game?"

My first game was the New Play Control version of Pikmin uwu

"Where did you hear about the games and how did you get into the series?"

If I must be honest, it was through Super Smash Bros: despite I already known of the existence of a Pikmin series since I've played Brawl many years ago, and liked to play in the Distant Planet stage, I was still confused about this series' own nature. The miracle happened when I was hyped for Ultimate: I was joking with a friend of mine about which characters of the roster could pick our OCs, and I chose for my favorite one Peach and Olimar. After that friend of mine pointed me that the captain was indeed an underrated character, I was curious and I first visited Pikipedia. It was one of the best decision I ever had.
I was fascinated about both how the character's writing was deep and extremely likeable, the adorableness of the Pikmin themselves, the cute and dark environment of PNF-404; from here to watch Pikmin short movies, maining Olimar even more than I did with my already beloved Peach and finally play and loving to death the first two games it was a short step.

"Best type?"

Despite I am a fan of every type of Pikmin, and therefore I don't dislike any, I like the most the Purples: they're so adorable and chubby, to not count that in Pikmin 2 they're so useful! But I also like a lot Yellows and Rock ones! ;v;

"What about best captain?"

Obviously the President, he is so hot---
Ok, nope!

As you can see, I'm stick with Olimar: he's not only my favorite captain, but also my favorite character of all videogames along with Peach. He has got an adorable character design, a  really deep personality (what other videogame character could classify as a humble underpaid employee, beloved husband and father of two but at the same time a biologist, a philosopher, a brave captain and explorer and, not lastly, a saviour of a probably hopeless species?). I love that despite he doesn't seem to show up, he's a really sensitive guy for his surroundings! And that intellectual aspect of him is an added value in an already awesome character!
I know that in the American version of Pikmin 3 his character arc was pretty disappointing, but for this reason I still value more the European translation one: I also tend to think that in that game Olimar was quite depressed for being distant for another time from his family, worsened by the fact Louie wasn't helping him at all.
Despite that the best thing Hey!Pikmin could offer is another take of the personality I've learnt to love!

"Best enemy, even?"

Aesthetically, I'm a simple person: I like the Spotted Jellyfloats the most, even if they aren't as menacing as other enemies. Basing on concept and the mood, the Waterwraith easily wins: the Submerged Castle was one of the best dungeons ever even thanks to it. But the boss I liked the best was the Plasm Wraith: its battle was EPIC to see, I loved its presence in the story and its behaviour and it seemed to be also a difficult boss, which is also a point in its facor.

"Well, made/have any fan characters?"

I've a Pikminsona, Tarnima, which is not published yet and my version of Olimar's parents, which I don't consider to be proper FCs: I must recover this lack of mine! :"D

"Favorite game?"

It's quite an unpopular opinion, but I like the first one the best: it may be the darker atmosphere or the quite restricting time limit, but I love this game the most since not only created a whole new Nintendo series but also because it gave the basis to add a lot of serious themes to it (and in which these are shining more). I especially loved how Olimar (I know, I'm obsessed) started to treat the Pikmin from interesting subject to study to good friends. It melted my heart to see their last goodbye and what the Captain had to say about them... I know that it's such a brief and bugged game, but it's still my second favorite game ever after Mario Galaxy! I can't decide objectively in this case. ;v;

Also the second one was rad, despite its rather longness: I still liked a little less because the caves were too long for my tastes and overwhelmed the open-air exploration tasks. Also I don't like how the gloomy thematics of the first one were succeeded by lighter ones. Not that I completely dislike this change, but I preferred continuing to see Olimar and the Pikmin against an unforgiving nature, to don't make it a secondary theme. However I still love to death the addiction of Louie, the President, the Piklopedia and the Treasure Hoard!

"Best area?"

I really like Wistful Wind from Pikmin 2 for its unsettling mood and autumnal aesthetic and the Distant Spring for its level of challenge the most: even most of Pikmin 1's levels deserve a mention. What about the Garden of Hope from the third? RAD. And the Distant Tundra? AS WELL. Aaaa, they're all good levels! ;v;

"Is CharliexRubber Duck a good ship?"

10/10 my OTP, even better than Mama, pls Nintendo maek it moar cannon than mayro x zedla guy.

FluffyFoxOfFate

I love the pikmin games! It's been a long time now since I played it but I do really enjoy them. Out of series with Nintendo Pikmin seems like such a small fandom, or maybe I just haven't been looking in the right places. So it's nice to see other people a part of it. ^^

"What was your first game?"

My first game was the very first Pikmin game. I still remember walking though the mall when I was little and seeing the advertisement cardboard cutouts that were in the gamestop there. Though at that time I didn't have a Gamecube and didn't end up getting Pikmin until it released on the Wii.

"Where did you hear about the games and how did you get into the series?"

Well, I talked a bit about that in the first question. XD I never saw a commercial for it on TV, I only found out about it was the cardboard cutout advertisements in Gamestop while in the mall.

"Best type?"

Tbh Blue Pikmin. When ever I play I always have a large group of them with me. Just having the ability to go into water with them and not worry is really good.

"What about best captain?"

Olimar, I always liked Olimar the best. I don't know why just always have.

"Best enemy, even?"

Bulborb I think, I like how they look. Like huge ladybug/slug eyed like creatures. (even though I think they might be more based on Termites, with how the queen is. Which would make sense with Pikmin being ant and how those two species are like in real life.)

"Well, made/have any fan characters?"

No I haven't. I have considered making a fan character in the series but I just never did.

"Favorite game?"

Pikmin 2 for sure. Not having a time limit was the best thing, that and the caves and how they're different every time you go in. I was just have a daily routine with that game, just trying to get as many Pikmin as I could.

"Best area?"

I think, Awakening Wood is my favorite. I always went to that level when I played Pikmin 2 a lot. My lest favorite would be Perplexing Pool, most just, I got pretty much destroyed from a wondering Spotty Bulbear that came up to where you start and and was eating everyone. I only noticed it after he got a white pikmin and it gave me a notification about how the poison worked. Now I always go to that level thinking that Bulbear is going to pop up at my base.

"Is CharliexRubber Duck a good ship?"

Pfft, sure it is. XD

lance_eats_bugs

i have the urge to make a pikmin oc lol.... im OBSESSED w pikmin rn lol

Tokoro_Tenjiro

Hello, I'm currently suffering from Pikmin brainrot!

"What was your first game?"
Pikmin 2 on the Wii.

"Where did you hear about the games and how did you get into the series?"
I had a mild awareness from SSB, but I became interested in the series after watching a let's-play in like 2014 from a certain Youtuber (who I  won't name for reasons; but whoever you're thinking of, it's probably  correct). Initially, I was very interested in GameCube games at the time  and I watched a let's-play of Luigi's Mansion from the same Youtuber.  After finishing that, the Pikmin 2 let's-play was recommended and I decided to watch it. The rest is history, and I picked a used copy of  Pikmin 2 up at Gamestop not long after.
"Best type?"
Purples and reds are my favorites. Purps for obvious reasons (they're OP in most games, and they're purple), and reds because their pointy noses are cute.

"What about best captain?"
Louie. He just wants to grill, everything and everyone else be damned. Arguably the greatest sociopath in gaming.

"Best enemy, even?"
I always liked the Fiery Bulblaxes and how melty they are. I audibly pogged when I saw them return in Pikmin 4. Hot take, but I also really like the snagrets, especially the Pileated Snagret. It's an excellent blend of cute bird, cool snake, and a pogo-stick with burrowing capabilities.

"Well, made/have any fan characters?"
I have a ton of fan-made enemies (not uploaded here), and two fan Pikmin species: Metal pikmin and Acid pikmin.

"Favorite game?"
Pikmin 2. I don't really like difficult games, albeit Pikmin 2 is not nearly  as unforgiving as Pikmin 1 (idk, I still have yet to play it), but even  despite the unfair and exhausting feeling of the game's later caves, I think Pikmin 2 strikes a good balance between chill overworld  exploration, and doing things that make you go "OH WTF??? NOOOO" in the caves. Also, the music slaps.

"Best area?"
I love the Wistful Wilds and I find the Valley of Repose to be really nostalgic and cozy. Though, my fav overall might actually have to be the  Primordial Thicket from Pikmin 4. I found it to be really beautiful, alien, and eerie - in a good way, like you're tresspassing into an  ancient and hostile world time forgot. I recently learned the area's  music conatins a recording (specifically the last known recording) of a now extinct Hawaiian bird called the Kauai 'O'o, which is such a crazy  detail and makes the place even more haunting.

"Is CharliexRubber Duck a good ship?"
A-tier ship, but the Hocotate ShipxLouie is slighlty better imo. ... No, I will not elaborate.
