what's with the hate around ocxcanon ships?

I don’t particularly like canon divergence (nowadays) to begin with but having rp’d for maaaany many years as canon characters and having oc x canon forced on me and having to adapt to some gross and sticky/awkward situations, it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. 

I think its fine for people to do and have and i dont see it as cringe anymore (i def used to from multiple experiences of having it forced on me) but its not for me and i prefer to just not be around it when i dont have to be.  Especially with games letting you create player characters and open that mindset up some, but its nothing i really partake in myself and i just leave people to it.

Anyone going out of their way to harass people who do like it or have oc x canon ships needs to go outside or something because its not that serious. Just leave people alone and move on.

I don't hate anyone who does canonxoc ships, me personally I don't see the appeal to it and the reason I don't personally do it/participate in it is cause not only does the canon characters have already established lore,preferences,etc but it makes me question how would that type of ship even work?

I don't hate anyone who does this, they're free to do whatever makes them happy after all! So not sure who is hating on it specifically lol. If it makes you happy thats what matters!

Also those sound like obsessive fans, who goes out of their way to harass someone over their personal favorite ships? Just cause its not to their established headcanon? people need to not harass others and let them enjoy what makes them happy, its not really harming anyone in the long run.

I've received my fair share of anon hate for my canon x OC ships, with many anons telling me that I'm cringe, that I'm ruining the fandom tag (despite only posting my canon x OC content there sparingly and keeping most of my content untagged), that I should grow up, and a few other less than savoury things lol.

I totally understand people hating on canon x OC in general (people are allowed to dislike things for whatever reason and voice their opinions about it), though I could never understand the reasoning people might have for targetting others specifically to send them hate. People on the Internet are just mean sometimes for no reason, especially to those who are just happily minding their own business, I guess.
