Surprised no one haven't posted them yet but the M.U.T.O.s from Godzilla 2014 have the best designs I've ever seen, along with the best sound designs!

The Projectionist from BATIM is probably my all time favorite character design (… and character in general) I really, really wish they did more with him and included him in merchandise.

magolor from kirby's return to dream land
okok i may or may not be extremely biased in saying this because magolor is my favorite kirby character ever (and my username is literally the name of the theme park he built), but i think i have enough reasons for why his design is probably my favorite out of any character from any media
(this is gonna be a little long so i'll put the rest under a spoiler thing so it doesn't take up too much space)
first off, his colors. his colors and patterns kinda give him like a celestial kind of look (?? idk if that's the right word to use or not) and not only are they super pretty colors, but there's also some meaning behind them!! the yellow in his design was inspired by the color's relation with betrayal in christianity so it was supposed to like foreshadow his betrayal in krtdl without making it too obvious :0
second, his outfit. i don't have much to say about it but idk it just looks really nice imo. the cloak and hood make him look like a magician or something, and i also really like how his belt is used like a scarf!! oh and you can't really see it in his normal form but the yellow thingies on his ears are actually rings!!
oh yeah and don't even get me started on manager magolor.
i absolutely love how the design on his bowtie/ribbon/whatever is an energy sphere like the patterns on his hood!! (you can't see it in this picture but it looks cool trust me) also his top hat looks like a glass of overflowing milk on a bending paper plate (in a good way)
ok lastly, just him. i absolutely love characters that look somewhat like animals (in magolor's case, a cat) when they're clearly not supposed to be (that was oddly specific sorry) and magolor is like the perfect example of that. and his floating hands look so sick! plus he's egg-shaped. he's literally a feliform space egg and i love it. oh also you can't really see it but his eyes glow yellow in the dark!! i like that small detail a lot :D
alrighty that's all for now. sorry that was so long LMAO i just really really like this guy. there was a lot i left out because i didn't really think it was important enough to add. i could make this a lot longer with more details but i won't because i'm too tired. i could also write about each of magolor's other forms in just as much detail, but i won't for the same reason.

these two designs work really well together. i like a lot of tloz’s designs but i think majoras mask is my favorite - also see the indigo-gos

I always HEART Baikinman design for being simple but yet, very charismatic, especially his unorthodox design mouth. It's funnily creative! And because of him that I started to watch Anpanman and now it's one of my comfort show!

First of all I so agree on Pandora Hearts Cheshire cast, as a preteen he was my FAVE I stanned so hard
I came here to spread the gospel of Dungeon Meshi. It’d be hard to fully show the extent of the amazing character designs, but it’s tied into the worldbuilding a lot as well with different fantasy races. It’s believable and consistent and still every character looks so very unique, it’s incredible. There’s soooo much concept art and complementary art in the artbooks it’s incredible.
In a similar way, Naoki Urasawa is sooo good at character design. His designs and style is very grounded in realism, and I’m sad I couldn’t get a good picture of this dude but the mangaka really can make super distinctive faces and features from very minimal lines, it’s incredible to see. I love all the shapes of this old man’s face

The best thing in 20th Century Boys is we see characters both as kids, adults and elders and they’re all so distinct in designs that you can really see them grow like it’s not just generic child becomes generic adult it’s like… Believable. It’s really good designing
Edit: ok I’m having fun backreading this thread and 1) Absolutely, Juuzou Suzuya was a cultural reset 2) OMG AYAKASHI GHOST GUILT </3 The designs in that game truly were so good. Inspirational. World changing.
