What makes you interested in a OC?

I want to see what people look for when it comes to making characters or any details that make you like about a character. Is it their backstory? A marking that you like? Etc..

Stormshollow

humanoid characters with deep lore stories, I will read paragraphs even better if there’s a comic

Something about characters with unconventional names keeps my attention super easily. If I'm scrolling through the popular feed and randomly see a character named something random or dumb like, I don't know, Cylinder or Cardboard, it doesn't matter what the design looks like, there's a 99% chance I'm going to click on it and pour through every bit of information listed on its profile

Apart from that, when it comes to other people's characters, I'm (usually) not super invested in personality, backstory, or lore, so I gravitate toward appearances the most. The only exceptions are MHA or Fallout characters, which I don't seek out very often so I don't see them much. Anyway, I'm a sucker for desaturated purples, as well as characters with prominent eye bags and/or messy hair! Designs that scream "tired" are my Achilles heel

I love other people's ocs more than I should

I love ocs with deep lore that's super connected to other characters esply, and folk that draw comics of their ocs too

Whatever character is obviously the creator's favorite is usually the one I'm checking out. Like maybe there's a good reason they have the most pictures, links, favs ect. I also feel like that kind of character says a lot about the creator too and I can't help but to psychoanalyze lmao.

Def design, and writing. Because I'm not fluent at English, but kinda good at it, I can understand most of the things, but just walls of text without saying what is what, and just idk, it makes me feel so dumb. Like even just keeping all in parts, like backstory, memorable events and stuff are getting it better

About designs. Yes, I'm that guy who can easily get disinterested in oc just by design, even if their profile writing, and backstory are good. Why? I don't know, personality? Idk, maybe it's okay. I'm often making fanarts for characters that made me interested, and just ..idk, drawing smth I don't like? Idk-

Yes yes I'm such a bad person, hate me for that : )

I like it when the character is an anthro (furry or feral) or some kind of humanoid or monster, abstract form.... I'm less attracted to human OCs but I do have certain crushes! it all depends on whether it makes my little heart flutter. But above all, I have a preference for OCs that are Birds. more than 90% chance that I'll click on an oc's profile if it's one.

When I click on a profile, I like to see at least the basic information. And I love it when there's a story !!!! it can be profound, or just describe a part of the daily life, behavior of the oc in question.

a design can be amazing, I'd be disappointed if there wasn't some information. But I can understand.
As someone with 320 OCs (not all on TH) , my account is a perpetual work in progress, but I've set myself the goal of finishing my ocs' profiles so I can make their stories available.
And finishing a profile (off tab) takes a lot of time, so it doesn't surprise me if some designs may not have any information, maybe their owner will take care of it one day.

personally the first thing that i tend to notice is character design , specifically colour pallete / silhouette ! if thats good i can like a character on that alone but i also really really like interesting bios / lore in addition to that. if the person obviously just like , gives the oc a lot of love in general it makes me appreciate the oc even more
