Bumping this thread up because I just got back from seeing 1917 and I need to gush about it.
I had doubts from the mixed reviews but it was so good it's my new favorite film. It was immersive and intimate. I loved the characters and story telling. I have a lot of feels. It's one of those movies that makes you feel. One particular scene gutted me.
I can't explain it but it wasn't like any recent experience I've had at the cinema. It was also one of those rare kinds of stories where I got a "movie hangover" - where I was still in the world of movie after it finished. I'm still thinking about the characters Blake and Schofield.
I ended up going by myself since no one in my local circle likes war drama but because I was alone I was able to fully immerse myself into the movie and the character's lives for doing so.
I can't wait to see it again.
