My Little Pony discussion?

i used to have like 30 mlp OCs back in the day but i scrapped them all bc i didn't know what to do w/ them but i LOVE mlp OCs i've seen so many cute ones ;o;

i guess it's kinda embarrassing to admit this bc i'm almost 20 but i really enjoy mlp and it's something i watch when i'm going thru the deep age regression that comes w/ my autism, and it also helps me calm down if i've had panic/anxiety attacks ;w;

my fave pony is scootaloo! i'm not sure why i enjoy her character so much but she's been my fave ever since her cameo in the first couple of eps of season 1 

i try to avoid the commuinty bc of all the weirdo bronies but a lot of the fanart ppl make is super cool! 

ahhHHHH MLP is, frankly, my Special Interest. I have. many many many opinions.

I think all MLP oc designs are valid! It’s fun to try and make em look like they’d match up to the show, but I can see that MLP itself seems to be trying to branch out, in background ponies! (COOL!!!!) I used to have a TONNNN of OCs, but after some Mishaps I reworked em all into my own lil pony world. Makes life easier. Some of their designs were pretty complex, so I can’t really say anything against complex markings :p

honestly? my favourite character is Twilight Sparkle!!! and god, so many favourite episodes. i really like the ones (oh man idk the season/ep numbers i only know they were a finale) where twily became a princess!!! those were fun and the songs was great! (on songs- the flawless song was great!!!)

i also love discord. 

i only really have a problem with how the main six aside from fluttershy treats discord- especially compared to starlight. starlight was forgiven instantly, and is like. totally trusted now. and its been seasons and theyre still mean to him in episodes. i just want him and twilight to get along damn it.

Man I just turned 21 in June you're fine xP I only got into MLP last November. 

The weird part of the fandom made me swear off going ANYWHERE near the series, too. But my little sister saw the movie, and then she wanted to watch the show with me. So we did. And I loved it. Now I feel like I'm playing catch-up. I'm learning about not-creepy fanart, though - I found an artist on dA, Loppodity, and goodness, can fans come up with super amazing stuff! I'm slowly leaning towards actively participating in the fandom.

Scootaloo is adorable! I really like that she's in the show - all of the Mane 6 have supportive parents, but not every kid has that. Scootaloo doesn't either, plus she's insecure about her wings. I think it's really cool they put in a character kids can relate to in insecurity and not-typical family life.

Oh gosh, the Flawless song made me bawl like a b a b y. I really needed to hear that one while I was bingewatching the series for the first time. It was super cool to have a whole episode of the creators addressing the fan criticism of the show!

Aaaaah Twilight is one of my favorites too qwq She has a lot of stress about being good at stuff and dealing with high expectations, so I end up personally relating to her a lot. (Long story short, I'm an oldest child.) I can't remember my favorite episodes with her (I'm rewatching the series again while waiting for season 8 to end up on Netflix) but I do remember the one you're talking about is the season 3 finale!

Discord is n e a t. I wasn't too fond of him when he first popped up (A weird bad guy, whoop dee doo, right?) but then as the episode went on I got more interested. I can see why people enjoy him as a character now. He's actually a lot more complicated. I like that they explore the idea of somebody acting out because they simply don't understand why people don't do whatever they want all the time.

I was so suspicious of how quickly they trusted Starlight too! What she was doing was super bad and strong. Altering time? Stealing cutie marks? At least Discord was just trying to make people be not friends, but he was just having fun. Starlight was literally taking away pony's purposes in life. I was surprised that Twilight took her under her wing so easily.

I've always loved Applejack and Luna. Don't really know why? I guess for Luna is partly because I love the night and moon. 

My favorite episode is between A Royal Problem and The Perfect Pear

And for MLP oc's I'm really picky about them. They have to be decently strict to canon rules. So there's not a bunch that i really love

Applejack is a neat character, there's a lot of times where the writers show that just because you THINK it's true and stick by it, doesn't make it right or honest, and it's super cool that they do that instead of gung-ho "always tell the truth because the truth is always right!"
Luna's one of my favorites too, I love her design! I wish the official stuff actually stuck to her color palette c,: I'd get it in a heartbeat.

Oh, gosh, I rewatched A Royal Problem over and over again! Perspective lessons are so good, and I love that there was finally more to the royal sisters than just "they're super responsible princesses with big problems." Princesses need appreciation, too!

That's kind of the viewpoint I have, too - I get wanting to have a purely original pony, but I feel like it can go too far if you can't imagine your characters next to the source material. (That's just my personal view on what I want in my ocs, don't mean to say people with complicated characters aren't valid. I just get a bit iffy with 'em. That's a me thing.)

god!!! season 3!!! i thought so but wow!!! its been 4 seasons since then. shes done so much! honestly the flawless song was just nice to hear. it was a clear cut callout for fandom (in general, too!). 

im not the oldest sibling in my family, but i have a lot of similar anxietys and fears as her, so i just relate a lot! (i also think shes cute. shes a tiny purble horse. squishy.)

ahhhh i actually loved discord since i first saw him, his design was so awesome ;~; hes cool. i love monster-type designs. hes so different compared to all the squishy ponies!!! character-wise hes really great. i kinda relate to him too? in a few ways. i dooo think its kinda weird hes only had 1 friend ever tho. also the 1000 year timeline is kinda screwy but im gonna assume ‘1000 years’ is lingo for ‘such a long ass time that we dont remember how long’.

and yeah, thats always bugged me >:0 if we go through all the realitys, shes made: a war, eternal night, ponies wiped out by changelings, all life wiped out entirely. also all ponies ruled by discord and (lesser but still) at least the apple farm destroyed by flim n flam and equestria heavily polluted.

I used to really like the show back in like uhh 2012-2013? I admit I then stopped talking about them and drawing my pony ocs because it became socially unacceptable to be a guy and like the show without being branded as disgusting and gross, and I really didn't want that on top of all the insecurities I had back then. So I think I only got to season 2 maybe and I have seen miscellaneous episodes from here and there afterwards & I have read spoiler content to some degree. Oh, and I also saw the movie! 

I think MLP fan character designs are amazing! I see so much creativity among people and sometimes I wish I could kinda get back into that because I had some FCs myself too, but I'm in the process of converting them into casual unicorn characters with humanoid forms. I think all fandom ocs in general are nice like I don't think fan characters deserve the bad reputation they tend to get - it's not like all non-fandom related characters are "good" either anyway.

I'd say my faves are Rarity and Applejack! I also actually like Celestia a lot because she just has that cool mature teacher type I love in female characters no matter if they're a human or some other species, it's good and I dig the fact she has her flaws too and isn't always making the best choices. 

I used to relate to Twilight a lot when I was watching the show because I struggled with a really, really bad life limiting failure phobia especially related to studies so I related to her a lot! And the want it need it episode was actually my first step into overcoming that fear of failure so I feel like I owe it a lot, haha. I generally like episodes with musical numbers and I remember I enjoyed the uuhhh s2 finale?? with the royal wedding a lot, I'm honestly a sucker for alicorn content because long leggy..... good. Their designs are super fun!

Yeah so much happened after season three! I can't imagine how big that finale had to be for the fandom, and all the finales after that must have had an insane reaction!

I actually found the comics recently, and it turns out Discord has had a couple friends! One of them was a cat of some sort, and there was also this gigantic butterfly thing? They show it in an issue where Fluttershy and the CMCs are going on a nature walk and Discord is like "screw that, let's go travel through time!" Fluttershy is just his only pony friend because the rest of the ponies don't trust him, I think. (Except Celestia imo.)

Yeeeees Loppodity has so much good stuff qwq I love the ships. I don't even ship Twicord, but now I see the appeal! (Opposites attract, but it might be a liiiiittle stretch for somebody who panics without order and somebody who completely thrives on chaos to get together.) And the universe is so detailed it's amazing qwq

Ughhh I dont think I ever like got past season 3 and I really need to go back and catch up.  There are a lot of episodes and things that are very.... Non-kid show to me,  so I never get the people who think its a kid show full stop. And the movie?  Need to see.  I wasn't a fan of the Equestria girls stuff,  I think thats about when I fell off.  But Pinkie Pie is my fave of the mane six, for sure.  And I loved LOVED Winter Wrap Up (the song) like I'll still hum it occationally. 

I have made a few in the day but never did much with them,  in terms of OCs.  But I've recently watched an artist on DA that has a whole universe filled with ponies,  starting with the kids of the mane six and others and just filtering down.  I was so impressed with their art and their indepth story building in their universe that I've been itching to make ponies -cough-.  I may have a pony AU in the works of my main girl,  Ryn. I just need to sit down and make the tab and some art for it.

I've caught myself being kinda.... Idk snobby?  With people's designs and the like but I've tried hard to stop that cause who cares if it is horribly cliche or super unrealistic for the setting so long as the creator likes it,  ya know?  I think thats why I tossed a lot of my old designs,  I worried people would think they were stupid.  (That artist I mentioned did a "destroy cringe culture" event thing encouraging people to make the most cringey, over the top designs and they picked one to do really nice art for to encourage people to just draw/design what makes them happy.) 

Ah heck Caine I know that feeling, my parents very clearly disapproved when I told them I had gotten into mlp too :c Have you ever seen the Equestria Girls movies? They did one in between each season after 3, from what I can tell. Then this last year between seasons they came out with the movie. (I cannot find that movie for the life of me, either <~> Heck)

I didn't know people didn't like fan characters .-. Then again I've probably only been exposed to people who create fan characters, and not anybody who would disapprove of such a thing as a result. Huh. But unicorns with human forms sounds fun! I'm doing that with two dragon characters of mine.

FreeFallingUp13 My parents were honestly fine, I actually watched mlp as a kid so the new show definitely had some sort of nostalgia value for me that my parents didn't consider weird. I think my anime/manga hobby was considered weirder at that time, heh. It's mostly the climate online that got me really scared to like the show after all the brony drama 

I haven't seen any yet but I'm planning on watching at least the first one because honestly they seem really charming? They remind me of those old scooby doo movies I watched as a kid somehow, maybe it's the musical numbers or something? I just suck at watching things so I usually do that when I'm sick or when I'm with someone else!

An yeeeaah sadly people tend to be really gross towards fan characters, which is silly because they do no harm and require imagination and character creation skills just like every character

i also think he referred to the smooze as an ‘old friend’, so i never really count that line of not having friends as being like. totally accurate, yknow? cus hes definitely got multiple friends, and has had a couple! (i wish the mane 6 would trust him more :’) especially after the dnd episode where it ended with them all playing with him??? like... wheres the friendship... wheres the love...)

twicord is definitely my otp, but i can see preferences for other ships or even dislike for twicord itself (as long as... u actually admit u just. dont like it. ive seen people in the fandom try to claim its like. morally wrong and its???? hm. just admit u dont ship it n move on.) i like the idea that he can teach her to loosen up and relax a lil, help her anxietys, and she can teach him a lil order is okay sometimes >:0 just. mutual chillin and teachin. good stuff.

i saw someone mention the movie, i LOVED the movie too! the songs... the music... the ANIMATION!!! lovely. i own it! it came with a fun waterbottle so thats nice! tempest is pretty cool and i was super hype to see more of equestria :D

Tbh I wasn't sure I would post at first bc ;;; I've never really been into the FiM fandom that much??

BUT I remember MLP before FiM was released! When I was young, I loved Wysteria for... reasons that current me doesn't really understand, I think I just thought she was really pretty. So my parents indulged me with toys, this weird video game that was on its own console but rarely worked yet I loved it anyway, and I think I had all the movies. For some reason, the movies got me into watching the super super old TV show on YouTube which I thought was charming at the time. Then I didn't hear anything about My Little Pony until Friendship is Magic was released. I never got too into FiM, and now I'm too intimidated by how long the show has gone on?? but some people I followed really liked it and sang This Day Aria so I decided to watch those 2 episodes lol, then binged a few more. After that I kind of stopped following FiM, but Cadence is still my favorite character!

I also have nothing against fcs tbh, I actually like seeing the cutie marks and designs people come up with for MLP. The MLP art style is honestly just adorable to me.
