Hi!

Since the original Unpopular Opinion Thread is locked (it turned into a shit-show reeeaaal fast) , I've gotten permission to remake it.

I've decided to use the original rules for the thread since those were gucci

Edit: I didn't mean to post ic aaaaaaaa

Spoilers: Rules

- Don't be very rude or snarky to others. Remember, everyone has their own personal opinions.

- Disagreeing with someone's opinion is allowed, as long as it's not rude.

- Yo don't namedrop people, even if they're not on this site.

- To avoid causing a mess, refrain from starting an argument at all times!

- If there's something wrong going on in this thread, or if it's going out-of-hand, please PM me so that I can take care of it!

- Vaguing someone is prohibited, and it's connected to the third rule.

- Please do not post more than twice per page, so that it won't cause too much of a mess.

- It's okay if you vent, don't go too all-out on it. This is not the Vent Board.

- Also, please try not to turn this thread into a saltfest.

- Please, no opinions focused on racism, LGBT, politics, religion and the like. These will cause a massive flamewar. Controversial opinions are also not allowed unless taken lightly.

- Don't say stuff like "I don't like X" or "What? I love X!" in a way that's aggressive. This is meant to be a nice thread about sharing your unpopular opinions, not countering someone else's opinion.

-If it's something nsfw, use a spoiler box, or blackout the text  like this

- Don't call this thread out as a "bad idea." If you don't like this thread, please do not post here.

-Failure to comply with these rules will result in a warning, or ban depending on how severely you broke the rules.

Ey yo,  if you see someone breaking the rules, pm me. I love it when ppl do this because I'm a blind bih.

about the oreo stuff i’m kinda on the extremes of stuff; i really don’t like too much cream in the oreos and i prefer the thins for being not nearly as sweet and for being crunchier

but at the same time i will crush oreos up and mix them with milk to make a batter and put it in the microwave to make it a cake and it becomes super soft and gooey and good

Why is France dunked on when it's not even that bad

"if you only price your art 2 dollars why do you even sell your art"

I agree with this statement.

^^ I totally agree with the France thing. This is also common with Britain, where people just shit on the UK for no reason. It’s quite funny that it’s only okay if you say that you have European countries, but it’s suddenly a problem as soon as it’s not a primarily Caucasian country. 🤨

On a separate note, there’s a special place in hell for people who are intentionally rude and troublesome to teachers for no reason. Let them do their job instead of babysitting you. You obviously didn’t get enough attention at home if you have to act like a little shit to teachers who are already so underpaid.

(decided to post this on my main and also wanted to add more lol)

I absolutely fucking HATE professionalism.

everyone sounds like robots when they sound professional/mature, like im not saying you have to act like I'm your best friend and i've known you since pre-school but dude throw in a ':3' or a 'sup' or somethin every once in a while?! You know how boring it is when im cracking jokes and being all silly and shit and you're just nodding your head and using commas in speech. My eye twitches and I grow tired talking.

I get it's needed bc jobs require professionalism, but god I HATE it so much. No one feels real when they sound like they're straight up saying 'full stop' in their sentences.

I just wish more people just talked casually instead, it's not like we're acting like friends but it doesn't sound like im talking to the atm machine tryna help me deposit  and withdraw money.

It's just, super tiring istg

Brussel sprouts aren't always bad

If they are cooked with the right spices they are delicious

i dont know how unpopular this is, but i dislike textile arts (and thats coming from a textile arts student who just realized pursuing this degree was a mistake on my part). i think they're quite childish and so simplistic, while i do get youre supposed to simplify the motifs in order to make them decorative in textile arts (so they get used for tapestries, curtains, clothes etc), i just feel like it's too simplistic for my taste personally.

while they do look nice and such, the process of doing textile arts is not for me at all. it feels like i'm doing art for children rather than actually doing something with my life. not to mention embroidery feels more like a chore rather than something enjoyable for me due to how meticulous it is & crocheting aint for me for the simple fact i struggle with hand-eye coordination. and i'm also not someone who particularly enjoys working on meticulous art projects (i can write an oc in great detail, but i am not a fan of fastidious art projects).

moreover, printmaking (screenprinting, using a template, stamps) is something else i dislike in textile arts partly because i have to measure the distance between motifs and i have dyscalculia. its also quite a tiresome process. the only part of textile arts i enjoy is weaving, but even then, im in a love-hate relationship with it.

In the context of ace attorney, Larry is way more sexist than Godot. I’m not argue Godot *isnt* sexist, but to be honest I feel it was a racism thing that made people over hype this one line. And, I’m honestly left to wonder if it didn’t say that shit to Franziska but a less attractive or liked character, such as Sister Bikini, would have  people even cared that much?

Meanwhile, Larry is constantly treating women like objects and lusting after teenage girls. And it’s supposed to be funny apparently? I’m not saying if you like Larry ur a bad person, that’s ridiculous. I get why ppl like him. But, like, if ur gonna ask me to defend one over the other at least Godot is one of the best villains in the series, Larry’s purpose is to make the player laugh and personally I just didn’t find him funny.

I also used to not like Raymond Shields for similar reasoning, but I still liked him more than Larry. I thought he was really gross and weird with Kay. But, then I learned Ray’s supposed to be a parody of Americans and how touchy and causal we are sometimes. I still feel like the translation is poor in tastes, but I understand now he’s just supposed to be parody + and idk how well they could’ve ever translated him in a western context without it being at least a little weird lol. ( people also say godots line to franziska was mistranslated, i will likely never know the original line as I do not know japanese + cultural context I may not be aware of. But, I have seen a screenshot that said it’s the original line and I found both to be pretty similar..? )

ultimately, I hate how fandom treats things in a vacuum..? Media doesn’t appear from nowhere. My honest opinion is that western ace attorney writers are sexist, which is way more of an issue than if a fictional character is or not. I still haven’t played dual destinies + spirits of justice nor the prequels but this is my thoughts personally. I’m not saying they’re bad people but considering what they put in these games sometimes especially shit that’s supposed to be “funny” they have some sexist bias. Especially investigations and how Kay is written in both games… I love her but I found her poorly written. *I* may just be biased but I feel unintentional sexism was at play when writing her. Cus like, god all the men in the series just have to one up her or do something she could’ve easily done. My best example of this is when gumshoe + her rescued John, it was hyped up as her first “mission”. It was supposed to be her moment! Yet gumshoes theme plays instead of hers. Felt like such a slap in my face

^ oml hard agree on the font awesome animations.  Especially because you can apply them to anything.

They're cool. But overused and painfully overdone. Whenever I decide to use one I higher the animation duration. (Meaning it moves slower because the animation takes longer) unless they're meant to highlight something important

v I don't wanna make a new post. But I feel like it's simply a confidence issue + feeling uncomfortable by compliments. I had this pretty severe. called my art bad even though I liked it at that time. not because I wanted compliments but because I was uncomfortable and it was hard for me to be positive about my own achievements.

I'm not saying compliment fishing doesn't exist. It does. And it's annoying. Even what I described above is.  However I can emphasize with it.

NinjaNightCrawler

I don't like it when people swear, like for the reason that it's cool or edgy or whatever. Like no it does not make everyone who does it edgy, it makes other people uncomfortable :(

PK_Skeletons

Artists saying that they are bad at art while knowing damn well there are good are annoying. It's one thing to not recognize your own talent, I completely get that and I've been there myself, but when you're fishing for compliments by saying how bad you apparently are is just a nuisance. I hate how commonly I see it, makes me not want to give them that satisfaction of a compliment
