Suggestion: Word Blacklist?

Posted 6 years, 5 months ago by colorful

This may be a hard thing to program or code, but I just have thought of this after I've accidentally hurt some with my ways, after all.

Let's see, how about a feature where sensitive terms are censored by automatic asterisks/blacked out texts? We do have some words we take as an offense, and we might deem them to be very painful once we get a gist of it. Blacking our texts manually is good, but sometimes, accidents happen. Some may not know the fact that they need to black the word out, and that's why I thought of this suggestion.

This is not a suggestion so we could attack people, there may be some who does not want to see certain words, and not all can aid for the words they do not want to see. Just like how some does not tolerate some terms, it's not good for the person who might get attacked as well for using those words. I don't know how to explain it, but everyone has a different perception of things is the point I'm trying to show on why I'm stating this suggestion.

However, majority wouldn't like all their words censored, it would be pretty hard to read terms and sentences. It's also not interesting to read bios or posts that literally just have censored words everywhere, so we have to put the words on our blacklists manually.

An unfollow function would also be nice. There are some users we don't want to see on forums, but still want to interact with them somehow.

That's all I could conclude, thanks for reading! This may be hard for thr afmins, coders, and programmers, but I wish you all good luck! Feel free to state your opinions for this suggestion as well ù v ú)9

If you use google chrome, I'd suggest using an extension like word replacer 2 as a temporary remedy to this situation, depending on if the admins choose to implement this feature or not. You choose what words you do not wish to see and replaces them or hides them with whatever you wish. I use it for the like 1 word I don't like and it's worked out well so far.
