What Will Become Of Toyhouse?

How do you feel about the state of toyhouse

196 Votes I am hopeful that Toyhouse will take a turn for the better.
34 Votes They’ve given up and it’s not worth the effort to stay here.
58 Votes I don’t really care.

I’m pretty sure everyone knows what I mean when I say this but I can elaborate

Toyhouse Mods have been unavailable for extended periods of time

Support Tickets go ignored/get lost and don’t get answered for months to a year in some cases

The site isn’t very stable. Yesterday it couldn’t upload images and characters. Other times it just won’t load up

People are feeling abandoned in the sense that staff isn’t paying attention to their site anymore. Even if they are in micro increments, they haven’t communicated such and have nothing to say in terms of why they’ve just ‘poofed’

Many people mentioned moving to refsheet (i think thats what its called) but the money that many have spent here will just be lost into the pit of a failed kickstarter project.

So how do you feel? Do you have faith in the staff still? Are you worried? Do you not really care?

whether or not you see it as helpful, I wanted to hear other’s thoughts. I’d avoid repeatedly calling it fruitless because its a discussion.

(im not coming down on anyone. again, just conversation)

While this isn't an official job for the mods and staff, I do feel underwhelmed when thinking of their positions. They simply don't have time or won't answer a lot, if either or. We don't know so can't comment. Either way this discussion hits every single damn website and it's tiring. Unless the staff come forwards and say it's over there's nothing to worry about. TH has been up for years and nothing has changed except the staff being around less, which doesn't exactly mean bad news for the site as a whole.

I'm concerned because of how quiet they've been and I really hope they figure something out, hiring new mods, getting a proper admin panel set up, etc. Even if they brought Cy back on board just to get something workable, it would be preferable to them just giving up on the site that so many of us are using, especially after dA has screwed the pooch with Eclipse.

A group of my friends and I recently started up a world here to focus our RPing here using the world forums, since our old forum died, so I'm really hoping things improve.

I wasn't aware there was only one admin! Bless them for keeping this site running tbh. It makes a lot of sense that there's slow of ticket response/updates (as in announced, I've seen and appreciate features being added quiety). I do think there needs to be mod additions, even if just 1 or 2, bc I can't expect a single person to be able to handle everything. That's also a lot easier said than done, though.

Eitherway, I don't think people should put all of their eggs in one basket. I've been working on downloading all of my character's art/basic bio info to sta.sh and my hard-drive should anything happen. I suggest people always keep backups of their characters/art as a general rule of thumb for any site. Fc2 blog, sta.sh, onedrive, Tumblr, etc...Don't keep everything in only a single place.

^ Actually I see 800+ people using the site quite often. Mainly in the nighttime. (Well it's night for me) so.. I don't think that was the issue. It could be , no one knows but from what I always see it doesn't seem like it. Could also be a random server issue that appeared out of nowhere. And I'd also highly suggest to backup your stuff. Especially the profile writing. I don't have it anywhere else besides toyhouse and just started backing up. (Putting it all on my personal website, I started this 2 years a go anyway but put in away and never continued lol)

there are actually 934 users online rn as i’m typing this! so yeah, th gets a shitton of ppl on at once

definetly worries me. thankfully I've almost backed-up all of my sona's art pieces (It's been taking me so long since she has the most of any oc on toyhou.se so it takes so long to redownload everything that's been uploaded.

I am hopeful for the future though. this site is so popular and has a nice setup/layout. I can see it defiently going somewhere if we get some more staff. until this site literally goes down I'll continue to pay for premium to help support them ovo

Even though I mainly use this site more for character storage, I'm still a bit worried about how this site will become in the future. Like, for example if this place somehow ever came under attack by a outside force, or the site breaking so badly that it becomes unusable? I can wholeheartedly understand that since this site is mainly run by one person, then it makes sense that it would become quite frustrating and time consuming to handle multiple things at once. I have to agree though in the fact that it would probably be for the better to hire on new people to manage this site, lessening the strain of the main admin and keeping the amount of users on this site happy and satisfied since there are more active admins to handle things such as tickets.

But in the end, I can't really say much about this site. People will still be using it, but how long until they start to become fed up with it all and move on to a site with more managers that have a higher response rate? I'm currently in the process of moving the majority of my characters I deem important to the refsheet site, just in case something bad happens, cause it's better to be safe and sorry. Hopefully this site has a big turn around later on.
