I figured that since the "weekly show me a character" thread has been alive and running for a couple of years now, I could give a shot at doing similar with development questions! I'll post a new prompt each week both on this starter thread and the comment section! Feel free to post answers weekly or combine previous ones into one post - whichever feels the best for you.
Week 43: (Pick a character) How do they feel about big gatherings like parties? Do they enjoy having a lot of people around them or do they prefer less (or none)? How likely are they to approach people they don't know?

Week 1: (Pick a character) What would you consider to be the most impacting event in their life (that isn't their own birth or death) and why?
Week 2: (Pick a character) What makes them feel the most confident? Is it more internal (being good at something, succeeding in things etc) or more external (being praised, getting their skills acknowledged by others etc?
Week 3: What is your favourite part of character creation and why? Does it depend on character/time/your mood/etc?
Week 4: (Pick a character) How does your character generally react to failures, both their own and the failures of others?

Week 9: Which one of your characters would you consider to be the most "unexpected" character from you and why? The reason can be anything from their story to themes and even the design.

Week 35: Have you ever created a character but refrained from actually posting about them publicly? If yes, why? And if no, could you ever see yourself in a situation where that could happen?

Week 41: Which one of your characters would you consider the hardest to draw? If you're not an artist yourself, what would you imagine being the hardest?
Week 42: (Pick a character) How open are they about their feelings? Do they have anyone to talk to if they're worried? Are they more likely to talk about positive or negative feelings with others?

My art teacher noticed that all the characters in my main story, Into The Darkness have the same hair length. That was not intentional. Also, I use blues a lot. And stars/moons/constellations are found in a lot of them as well. I also have a fair amount of feminine boys, boys with long hair (in pony tails) and girls with short hair.
Tropes I like are taking the normal cliches associated with Good and making them the Bad. Like with my main villain, he controls the entire element of light and knows that people associate the element with only good heroes. He uses it to his advantage to make people believe he's a righteous leader here to save them all and protect them, but secretly he's trying to get them to go to war with each other and wipe themselves out.
For things I never noticed, it wasn't until recently that I realized a lot of my characters have like two sides to them. Most of the villains do the whole "seems nice, is mean" personality, or I'll have plenty of characters that have secret/second jobs and such. I think it's p interesting!
For some reason most of my characters have collared shirts??? Wow
I usually design monstrous characters as having human-like features, even if I know certain members of the species are more.. yknow. I guess I just stay in my comfort zone?
I also have trouble with unique personalities a lot jjknjhdasjndk I feel like all my female characters have the same traits.
I figured this out when commenting on a different thread but I have a small bunch of single parent ocs :0 There's at least five parent ocs and then there's more that I haven't made ocs of yet for my existing ones.
I also realized I have more single child ocs than I thought...
My fav couple trope (??) would be the flirty and shy pair XD I have at least five I can recall off the top of my head; these are the ones i keep daydreaming about more than my other romance pairs ;;
I also like to make ocs where one is loyal to someone. Maybe its b/c I can't write a (proper) betrayal?
Most of my plots are romance like and often about how the two people fall for each other ^^;;
My stoic/serious type ocs are usually easily or secretly flustered or extremely loving ^^;
I tend to reuse the same hair styles over and over again with little variation. I've noticed recently and ive been doing some slight redesigns to fix this. i am also OBSESSED with one character being super in love with a friend but for whatever reason they dont act on it or its unrequited.... I think in general a lot of the personalities I use are very similar or just variations of eachother....
These are things I've just noticed
- I try very hard not to have angsty vampires because I think they've been done to death. BUT, I ended up with Hannah who is punk and I don't know if that's better or not.
- I have a lot of dead moms.
- Reincarnation is also a thing in my current OC world, it's just something I enjoy exploring. Reincarnated love can be a lil creepy and I want to play with that too.
- All my witches seem to like wearing black and goth stuff except one. I should probably try to get out of that.
- I use stars and the color blue a lot.
adsjfs honestly i didnt really realize until a friend brought it up but i really love writing about gods and characters connected to them-- especially when gods dont rly fit/match with most people's idea of gods (omnipotent, all-knowing/all-seeing/what have you), so a lot of my characters are in that sort of area.
also: characters burdened with power/special ability, characters dealing with isolation (whether self-imposed or imposed by others) and/or a sense of being abnormal/unnatural.
