Want to suggest a question? Feel free to DM me!

I figured that since the "weekly show me a character" thread has been alive and running for a couple of years now, I could give a shot at doing similar with development questions! I'll post a new prompt each week both on this starter thread and the comment section! Feel free to post answers weekly or combine previous ones into one post - whichever feels the best for you.

 Dzaora Ardaneshi "Dzi" ClyncyeRudje

Dzi, for certain; not only has he had like three major design overhauls (I'm pretty sure that number is right, I don't have his older art on hand but that's at least the number of times i've redone his species), his personality has been overhauled, like, four times? He's always had at least a bit of an undercurrent of asshole in every stage but he went from villain with a heel-face turn->depressed uke garbage->what if sandpaper was a person->still very abrasive, but his good points are much more immediately obvious and he's generally a lot more good-humored.

Reid McKinley ★ jukeboxes

I would probably say Reid, which is interesting because he’s the main character. He’s gone through a lot of changes not only physically, but with his personality and backstory. He used to be much more emotional, weak, and vulnerable with a pretty basic history and feeble appearance. Now he’s almost the opposite: a strong-willed, blunt, intelligent personality with a deep backstory extending back billions of years. He looks a lot cooler now, too. (Must be the beard.)

Otto Alkaev II Vapor

he's had... a couple of changes? back in 2014/2015 he started out as a dead kid that got fridged for the sake of odette's development, but later down the line i, as most people know, wanted to use his namesake for SOMETHING, so i... made him a human experiment... it was actually kind of ridiculous, and he was from the West Province because that was a thing back then, but also Ophesia itself was more """futuristic""" rather than hiding behind that weird fantasy shield it has now. he was made to be a supersoldier, although that failed, and even then his only purpose was really only to just be... super strong, lmfao.

around 2016, Blaise became a thing, and I decided to plop Otto and Odette down as his kids, and Blaise was already meant to be a major asshole, so I knew something was going to happen there... Otto assassinating Blaise was a thing pretty quickly, but back then he didn't really have much of a motivation outside of "my dad is a dick" and "i want his money". Gregory was also a thing at this point, but he was meant to be... a fucking decoy of Otto or something? And then he would get murdered by Molly who ALSO went through huge developmental changes but more so on the design aspect, so I didn't feel that she would be as fun to mention. her death back then was fun to write, though, and i wish i could use it again...

and then at some point in mid-2016 i was inspired by "fanchildren" characters from a roleplay i was in and that's where Otto's kids came from, and also where Maribelle came from... and soon after that I made Korrina... And it spiraled from there, sort of. :v

Cocoa! ☕️ sketchdoodie

totally sure cocoa is my most redesigned character.

at first she started just as a sonic fan character, i've got to say that was more of a joke character than anything. her first name was gizzy or something like that. then i totally redesigned her, that was when i gave her the name cocoa (obviously because the brown fur) and some changes on her clothes and hair. Then i gave her another redesign, she weared like some kind of poncho and made her a fennec fox, i also gave her a more fluffy hair (previously cocoa was just a fox), i've got to say that she hasn't got so many changes since then more than her clothes, some changes on the colorpallete and some proportions, i changed her clothes because it was kinda problematic drawing her on other poses than just standing because of the poncho, specially if the pose required her to move her hands, i was pretty much of a begginer (i'm not a super artist either but i'm kinda better compared to when i started)

on her narrative and as a character i've done a lot of changes too, at least i can say that she has somehow a personality and some backstory, i haven't put that on her toyhouse profile but i'll do something with the character one day  (haha please give me feedback)

I've got to say, that's a total overhaul

 Starwalker Endercoil

I made them when I had no clue how to write LOL (Aka like, 2016-2017. Back in my Amino Days.)
They were also like, an Undertale OC at first? Now they're in an original thing that isnt connected to any Fandoms

🐺 koko and raven 🐦 loitering

Koko here!

In around 2018 (maybe 2017), she was black with her left hind paw white, and purple eyes. Her whole story was that she hated her pack, ran away, found out her enemy was her dad, etc. She was such a mary-sue. Her name was Nightmare, and she had an unknown sister named Dream, and her dad was named Pheonix.

In early 2019, I changed her eyes to yellow, and she became blind. I also made her entire leg white. Her whole story was she wanted to run away, and she went to another park's home and found out he was her dad, and that her sister was there. I forgot her sister's name, but I know she was named Yoru. Her dad was named Blizzard or something. I remember that in the beginning of the story her pack leader killed her mom or something??? I don't know i was weird and cringey. She was the omega, of course.

I haven't touched them since then, until yesterday. I learned wolves and ravens are always good friends, and decided to give them a little raven friend. Instead of the white on their paw, I made them Melanistic and their little raven friend albino, just to spice things up, yknow? I also changed their name to "Koko" because it means "Night". I decided they would just call the raven "Raven" because he can't  communicate with them.

I changed their gender to a male, because I don't connect with female characters like I used to.

Other than that, their story is mostly a WIP.

I know I changed everything about them, but I love how they are today. I have big plans with him ❤

Mortimer salida

Mortimer is part of the group of my favorite ocs, hes one of the last ones conceived/added and he has definitely gone through the most changes by far compared to everyone else. His design, backstory lore and personality are all very different than they were when i first made him about 4 years ago. Although the old versions of him are wince-worthy, its interesting to see how many changes ive made.

He used to have a really lazy, simple design and a really trite and shitty backstory/lore but i eventually made a ton of changes to him.... and i think hes fairly interesting or unique now. The only things ive truly kept from his original conception is his name and him being a prince. I don't really see myself making any major changes to him anymore (mostly because im really happy with where hes at lol) but i'm still interested in seeing what i could add onto him in the future

GALAXY MARSFAUN

Galaxy was one of my first ever OCs, and thus has been through a lot of changes, both design and story-wise. I created her around mid-2017 I believe? I was only starting out with character design so her design was kinda boring, she wore a pastel ombré dress + hair bow with a black cardigan and had long-ish ombré hair. I made many small changes to her design however I’ll share the largest ones below!

Early 2020

As well as this, Galaxy also went through a lot of character changes, however this was mostly due to the lore changing. Originally she was a ghost stuck in an inclosed island that was supposed to be the afterlife who broke free and went to school, however people were really scared of her because she was a ghost so she had to try and hide those features. Now the life and death thing has changed drastically and she’s just a ghost that wanders around trying to not be seen by Mistform hunters. She goes to school and still does the whole hiding thing, this is why she wears gloves and grew her hair out to cover her eyes. But on top of this she actually has a character now other than “very shy, also very shy”.

Another OC I think went through a lot of change was Robert. His design hasn’t changed an awful lot, however I will show the comparison below!

Late 2018??

Mid-2020

Most of his change was from his story. Originally he was the main antagonist but later I made him a twist hero and now he is the best thing ever. In fact, I think I changed him to a twist hero before I designed him? But anyways, most of his change comes from his backstory, I think the original was that he was the god of darkness and created planet Cutopia with Cecelia, the goddess of light, in harmony. But then Cecelia mistreated him a lot so war happened? He won and everyone was sad but then Cecelia got her revenge or something and everyone was happy?? Robert was big sad and gave up but later on recruited people for this team to try and reclaim the throne once again. I think he had children too? Callumn and Elise, but he killed them accidentally.

Now, Robert had this similar thing going on with Cecelia where they were gods and friends and then turned on each other and war happened, however the war (known as the Mistform wars) started and occurred over a longer period of time and happened for a different reason where Robert and Cecelia just happened to be on different sides. Now, gods in Cutopia work more like royalty, looking after the planet but not exactly creating it, that’s something that Cutopian elementals do, not Cutopian gods. Anyways, Robert and his side lost which lead to the hatred of Mistforms (the Cutopian undead) and he was big sad. He met a girl called Cora who is the worst person ever I hate her, she is a big meanie but they had two children, Elise and Callumn, and then Robert got possessed as you do and killed them by accident. More stuff happens but I don’t feel like talking about it, I’ve already spent probably over an hour here and I don’t know why lol I have no life.

Week 30: Which part of character creation do you tend to struggle with the most?
Have these changed with time/age? Are they consistently the same or do they depend entirely on the character?

zinnia

OUTFITS. theres a reason my characters dress so simply (other than the fact that i like keeping my char design simple)

im really not fashionable irl and havent changed my wardrobe in at least like.... 6 years. so coming up with character outfits is always a struggle lol. it's moreso a thing in recent times than it used to be, i had the hardest time coming up with a side character's outfit and ended up just going to the sims to make it. other characters i just manifest a random outfit and go with it :p

Kattenkvvaad

Personality and/or backstory

I'm just not a good writer (yet)
