[help] looking for writing feedback on oc’s bio!

CAUTION: this character has themes of clinical depression

hopefully this is the right forum section- but anyway ello! recently i worked on a bio for my character Max, and i would like to hear some opinions on it! specifically on the four paragraphs he has [the notes are a wip, but it’s mostly trivia like interests and quirks so yeah]

the first thing i’m concerned of is the second paragraph, like i tried to describe how his demeanor [he’s kinda goofy, but not in a obnoxious, loud kinda way] . i’m done typing it, but i wanna know if it’s clear or confusing for readers. do you think it works already? or do you guys think there’s a better way to describe him?

second, Max here has Major Depressive Disorder. i tried to describe it without mentioning the name [like how i do with most of my ocs, describing them as if they were undiagnosed. but the diagnosis would be labeled at the story itself.] i know his symptoms and how they work, but i didn’t mention all of them in the paragraphs [planning to add the rest to the trivia section]. i don't however have exprienced it myself, but i try to do my best research about this. i would like to here opinions on what i’ve typed here, as i really want to potray this as respectful and accurate as possible. if there’s anything missing, or anything that could be worked on, i’d like to know!

lastly, do you think a warning would be necessary for this character? personally i don’t like toyhouse warnings but i know why they are important. i’ve only plan to give warnings if i’m talking about any abuse, self-harm, suicide and crime, but do you think i should give one for Max? or would it be fine without one since it isn’t really mention explicitly [i think]? how about a little blurb on top instead, will that work?

i’m open to constructive criticism! so don’t worry, i won’t mind at all! if you have any questions you need to ask, feel free to let me know! i’d be willing to answer them :]

and remember, honest opinions only on this thread! tysm for reading

As someone who does have it, it can be a little rough to read about in detail. I think what you have now wouldn't need a full content warning, but a heads-up banner at the top of the profile would be a good idea.

If you end up going into much more detail on the negative aspects, though, you could switch to a content warning.

(Also oof ouch my heart... I want to give him a big hug and a warm blanket. Somehow his age makes it hit harder.)

IndigoBookwyrm been thinking of it for a while and yeah i suppose a warning of some kind would be nice, so i’m planning to edit it once i’m home! i’m not planning to go on more details beyond this point but i guess i’ll wait to see what others think, and see if i’ll be adding more or not. anyways thanks for the input! :]

[Max accepts you hug and blanket]

ramyune awww thank you so much! it was very nice hearing this, as it’s something that i tried learning for a pretty long time now [and still am tbh]. i love reading abstract writing [and the bit you did was pretty cool too!] but i’d admit i’m personally not that good with itaha- anyway i hope your studies in psychology goes well! again thanks alot :D
