Aoife wanted to watch people struggle to pronounce it, and she thought it looked pretty!
For ocs that go by a chosen name for any reason but especially trans characters, what was their in-character reasoning for picking their name?
For Ikal, while he did like the idea of a name that was in line with his heritage, the main factor was what sounded cool. He liked that it was short but pleasing to say and that he didn't know anyone with that name so it'd stand out.
Basically his name is Kassius, But he's also fine with Kass. Kassius is kinda similar to his birth name but changed to be more masculine.
Biologically his name is Emmanuel but because of the "emo" fringe he's been growing since he was younger he calls himself "Emo" instead. It's kind of an inside joke between his family but since the name's stuck, everyone calls him Emo.
Yaa cute thread, Ikal does sound cool (and Ribbit-Frog most based reason to pick a name LOL) ♡ I imagine little Ines took suggestions from the priests and doctors looking after her and thought it was the prettiest :]
aand Yohai feels like someone who chose 80% for cool sound and 20% for some relevant etymological meaning (I... did not mean to pick a real life name for them but a little bit into it!), and Elane feels like the kind of guy who named himself after someone he admired but didn't personally know.
he was escaping from his past but… niangao because he likes the food and it reminds him of his home,,
He wanted to pick a normal, generic name to blend in with society and not be associated with his family ^_^b
Mason's first name was just something that felt right to him... but his last name, "Stowers", was taken from an old friend of his. A Totally Not Dead Friend. /s
She usually says it's because she just wanted a name that sounded gender neutral and Indy sounded cool, but secretly it was because the name Indy means independent and she's very independent
encore (the word) means an additional performance done by a musical artist, and he’s a bard who really likes music puns :3
Not trans but,, He wanted a unique name that he thinks sounds cool (literally means 'a burst or explosion of laughter' or LOL) but also wants to disassociate from his past and the horrible person who named him. 👍
This is Anti!
His biological name is actually unknown since he refuses to tell anyone. It's a more feminine name, which he has always disliked. His parents were very adamant on having a daughter, so when they ended up with a son, they tried raising him in the more 'traditional' ways to raise a daughter (dresses, 'girly' name, 'girly' toys, etc)
When he eventually was no longer with his parents, he was pretty much adopted and STILL refused to give his name to his adoptive father..so he just called him Angelo for many many years while he was young
Eventually, as he got older, he decided he wanted his name to be Anti because to him it sounded edgy and cool..so to forget his past and his biological name he severely disliked, he finally feels comfortable with his chosen name, Anti! (though his adoptive father will still often call him Angelo. Especially if he gets in trouble)
One of my first campaign characters, the gist of her back story was that her evil parents were thrilled to have a Tiefling child. (This was... awhile back. Quite a few years ago. At the time Tiefling lore was still strongly about them being distrusted and disliked for their heritage.) But to their disappointment, Saspira... was good. They kept trying to put her on the wrong path, getting especially proud when she got mixed up with an evil pirate gang... until Saspira successfully brought them down, as was her plan.
She even became a good aligned cleric, the horror! And she changed her name to match, calling herself Harmony.
