RULE UPDATE [8/3/2022]

Once again, pretty self-explanatory thread. Your character tells the next character a secret about themselves, they respond, and so the cycle continues with them.

RULES AND GUIDELINES:

  • Keep NSFW to a minimum -- suggestions, implications, and innuendos are generally fine, but keep in mind that minors have access to this thread.
    • Romantic interactions are allowed, but only between adult characters.
    • Sensitive or gory interactions are also allowed, but must be put under a spoiler or blacked out.
  • Remember to post IC! The IC button is on top of the field where you write your post, just switch it on and select the character you wish to use.
  • There is a five sentence minimum in your response to the character above!
    • As a general suggestion, not quite a rule, however, please try to match half the post of the person you are responding to.
  • You may only post every three posts or three days after the last post, not three days after your own.
    • Example: [You] [x] [x] [x] [You] or You [x] [x] [three days pass] [You]
  • You may post a "claim" to avoid getting sniped, but please do not take too long on it!
    • You will be pinged here with a reminder after twelve hours of an unfinished claim. After twenty-four hours of an unfinished claim, you can be skipped by the next person.
  • You must prove that you have read the post that you have responded to. Your post must contain elements of the post above and/or the above character's information.
  • Be kind to your fellow players, but know that in-character views are not their own out-of-character. Just because their character's rude to yours doesn't mean they themselves feel that way!
    • Do not skip over users who have you blocked or who you have blocked. Wait for someone else to respond to them before posting.
  • I supervise this thread as much as I can, but if you spot problems, please either DM or ping me.

Ceta LostPocong

“Uh, I don’t think so?” Ctaiolth'metl replied with some hesitation, “Many people want to do weird things sometimes, even me. There’s been times when I wanted to just drag the ship I work on down to the bottom of the ocean.” The ghost let out a quiet chuckle, “I think it’s called the ‘call of the void’”

With a smile, it explained, “You don’t need to feel guilty; you haven’t done anything wrong. Nobody can choose how they feel, or what they think, just don’t act on these kinds of thoughts and you’ll be fine!”

“Oh, I don’t keep secrets!” Ceta proclaimed proudly, but after a moment, it started to blush, “But there are some things I don’t tell people… That’s ‘keeping secrets’, isn’t it?...”

She raised her hands to hide her face, “This is a little embarrassing, but… I think I have a crush on the captain of my ship…” Curling up and slowly floating upwards, they added, “And the shipwright too, and some of the sailors, and… a lot of people to be honest…”

They took a deep breath, and calmed down just a little. “I fall in love so easily, but I’m too much of a coward to say anything… What should I do…”

Prudence Beall duckjeans

Asking an eleven-year-old for romance advice. Great idea.

Quietly, Prudence listens to the fellow ghost as she speaks, occasionally brushing away the stray hair that settles over her face. "Romance is stupid," she mutters. She idly kicks at a rock below her. Her mother always told her that things like that weren't as important, not when you had books to read and animals to tend to. Being her age, Prudence never thought twice about it. And, of course, the girl is a walking echo chamber; anything her mother says is repeated verbatim to anyone who even meets her angry gaze. "You should focus on better things. Like, um... learning how to read. Or write. Or work on a farm. Those are more important."

She scrunches her nose. "But... if you insist on it... I think it's sweet. It's lovely, really. But you shan't let it become too much, or you'll only be upset in the end."

"I don't have secrets. It's wrong to keep them," Prudence sneers, but her shifty glance away tells a different story. Though, adamance left her groaning as she leaned back and rubbed at her eye. If she must...

Reluctantly, she points down at the poppet by her feet, the one her soul is tethered to. "Um... a secret... I know I'm eleven, but... I still like my doll. She's all I've got left. I made her one day when I was little, and I'm still proud of m'self! I named her Lady Elinor. She's my friend."

Lady Elinor is an old, beaten thing, made from cornsilk and husks. Her frayed arms were open wide for a hug. Prudence smiles softly at her, but as soon as she catches herself looking so happy, her face contorts make into a scowl. If she could, she'd pull her doll away and shield it from the other's sight, but her hands slip right through, intangible.

"Don't tell anyone. And don't go touching her, either; she may be an old biddy, but she's still my doll!"

Cerys Finch HardyLark

Typically Cerys wasn’t too terribly keen on making small talk with people she didn’t know well… it was a waste of valuable time that could be spent researching or working.

Still, the ghost of a little girl floating about the wooden floor had piqued her interest enough that the mage had sat down to have a conversation. After all it wasn’t everyday that you could speak to someone who’d gone through an experience like this. Although trying to steer a conversation with an eleven year old was difficult… so she’d had surrendered to following wherever the topic takes the young ghost.

Cerys taps the head of her cane from where she sits at the mention of secrets, looking intrigued.

“Oh, I wouldn’t say it’s wrong to have secrets… especially when not everyone has your best intentions in mind” she hums, more to herself than directly to Prudence. To be entirely fair, Cerys probably wasn’t the best person to share secrets with either. Still, the mage’s gaze follows the ghost’s outstretched finger to the poppet on the floor.

Under normal circumstances, she’d be entirely enraptured by the idea of tethering a soul to an object like a toy. Instead, the mage seems to fixate on what Prudence is saying, a mix of wistful emotions crossing her features. Regret? Guilt? Sorrow? It’s not entirely clear what’s going through the woman’s mind at that moment.

When she spots the smile on Prudence’s face, a surprisingly natural and fond smile pulls across Cerys’ face, though it wipes away just as quickly as the ghost demands she not touch her doll. How odd. Why was it always around children she got like this… it would be a mystery for another day.

She raises a gloved hand in a pacifying manner from where it had been resting on her cane and she leans back, “Not to worry my dear, your secret is safe with me.” Cerys laughs, the noise by far the most genuine thing she’d produced all day. “She’s your treasure. I can tell you took good care of her.”

A secret? To a stranger no less… She abhorred the idea, but she had to provide something as well.

“Fine! Fine, I’ve got a secret, just give me a second to explain.” She grumbles angrily, squeezing the wood of her cane in irritation. after a beat, she sighs and pulls at a silver chain under her collar, procuring a necklace… or rather a finely made ring attached to a chain with a purple and pinkish gem that glows slightly without the lights.

Cerys holds it for them to see, and when she speaks next her voice is soft. Her expression is a mixture of confusion and sorrow, and the desperate want to understand.

“I have… forgotten so much of my past since I came here to Soillon. A side effect from working so vehemently with magic and such. It doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things… my work stops for nothing.” Her voice develops an edge as she talks about her personal project, her words slipping from her lips so easily, as if she’s repeated them to herself repeatedly.

She probably had.

After a moment, she relaxes slightly and sets the ring in her gloved hand. “I guess my secret is this ring. The funny thing is, it’s my workmanship, and this is my favorite style of wedding ring and yet I cannot remember for the life of me making it, or it’s sibling.” Cerys’ red eyes focus on the ring in her hand before she closes her hand into a fist and she brings it to her lips, a tired look on her face… one that she tried to hide behind a mirthful smile.

“I can never bring myself to throw it away… maybe I’m secretly married.” She jokes, but doesn’t laugh, as its clear she suspects this may be the case. After another awkward beat, she clears her throat and puts the chain back around her neck before glancing at her companion, a more severe look on her face.

“I truly mean it, by the way. You better take this to your grave lest I put you in it early.” Yep, still just as ruthless, regardless how friendly she may act.

Veritas Memoriae ProfessionalDumbass

“Aye aye, I ain’t no snitch” the man assured Cerys as he brought out his own ring he had stowed away in his pocket. Simple and bronze with only the word “Stolen” engraved into it

“A married dude to a possibly married woman, I ain’t one ta talk about love. Specially when it pertains to others. So don’t worry”

—————————————————

Veritas rocked forward and back in his rocking chair, the mosquitos of the swamp where the mercenary now resides buzzed around his head. It was annoying yeah but there was one thing more annoying “if ya keep asking for somethin from me Ima hand ya snappy”

He motioned his foot to a sleeping crocodile by his chair. Who opened a singular eye before closing it, bored with it’s owners threats to the newcomer. Practically spitting out a sting of curses about being unlucky. He laid back into his chair and took off his useless monocle “Ight Ight ya get a story if ya shut the fuck up. I ain’t in the mood fer antics”

Clearing his throat he began “back in the day when I still had a wife I was a big shot mercenary. Not some rando you fuckers come out to annoy for stories” he added the last bit scowling “an well one time a repeat customer took a fancy to me. She had boat load of cash yeah? That meant she was practically queen of a fuckin country”

Now that he began to recount this he subconsciously shifted in his seat. The aged wood creaking underneath his massive frame “well, she put a bomb in my house. Whole family was there. My entire life I cultivated was threatened. An I was offered to divorce my wife an leave forever for the black mail bitch. Safe to say I caved-“ tears were now visible in the corner of his eyes. Quickly he wiped them away on his sleeve “I had ta do some things that made me a shitty husband and father with her, ta keep ‘em safe. Till I could get out. I did eventually, took too long though. I stopped taking mercenary work from gals after that-“

(MANUAL BUMP DINGUSES

Alula (✾) Pomegranarchy

Under normal circumstances, someone of her stature would never set foot here. A swamp is a far throw from the lofty treetops she resides in. As Alula brushes her skirt into place, she reminds herself that building rapport with even the most prickly and unsavory of folks is important. After all, one can never know whose help they'll require. It simply makes things easier the more any given person is on your side. That said, if she'd known Veritas would act in such a way, she would have started with a different approach.
Oddly, she seems entirely nonplussed by the crocodile at his feet. In fact, she seems to ignore the beast entirely.

"I cannot imagine being within such a situation..." She trails off, as if somber. Mustering a kind smile, Alula angles her head carefully. "It must have taken an awful lot to pull yourself out of there. I'm sorry to hear of your loss... Many would have given up in such a position, but you persevered. Of course, it's absolutely horrible what you had to go through... but you made it. I hope you can find some pride in that."
Inclining her head, Alula makes a move to leave.
"I understand it must have taken a lot to tell me something so personal. I don't wish to take up anymore of your time. I assume you must be a rather busy individual, as I myself am. Take care."

"Welcome, welcome!" Graciously, Alula waves her guest in and gestures lightly towards a table, adorned with a lacy tablecloth and a porcelain tea set. "New friends are always a treat."

With a soft hum, she takes a seat. Every aspect of her posture, from the way she crosses her legs and folds her wings over the back of the chair, is a facet of practiced elegance. She thanks the nearby attendant as they pour a cup for her.
Of course, Alula had not arranged such an event for idle chatter. Whether her guest realizes it or not, she hopes to gain some knowledge from beyond her planet.
"A secret? In that case, well..." Carefully, Alula brings her cup to her lips. After some silence, she sets it down and smiles bashfully. "Aha... I don't enjoy telling this one. You see, my species is covered rather generously with very soft down when we are young. Some of us grow up and don't quite lose all of it, and it... well, the childish association makes one think of immaturity."

She clears her throat and laughs, seemingly in an attempt to ease herself. "I, ah... I am one of those people. That still possess child down, that is. It's rather embarrassing, though for secrets, it's a relatively harmless one."

Pakeu Digitalpinkie

"I actually don't think that's so bad..." Pakeu said with an almost confused tone. "I'd think it would be nice to have soft cute feathers instead of 'mature grown-ups' feathers! They're nicer, aren't they? If you do feel like you need to keep it a secret though, I guess I won't tell anyone. It's not that bad anyways!" He purred cheerfully.

{PERSON BELOW PLEASE PING :>}

Pakeu sighed nervously. His paws were shaking, and he was obviously anxious about telling someone his secret. "I just... I have to get this off my chest!" He chuckled nervously. "I don't know what I'll do if I hold it in any longer... I might explode! ah- sorry! I just really need you to hear me out for a minute!!" He'd grab one of your hands with his shaky paws, gripping it tight with his claws pulling at the skin of your palm.

"I- uhh-" He'd let go and step back with the fear that he was making the stranger uncomfortable. "Just follow me!" He'd walk at an unusual speed and lead you into an alleyway. He wouldn't go very far in, and stay just at the entrance of the alley, then face you.

"I've injured someone- I might've even killed them... I- I don't know- I never checked if they ended up okay- WAIT! I'll give you more context, I swear!!" He'd practically yowl at you. "Sorry! I mean- I was just drawing some lizards at the park when some kid hit me with their ball!" He was hissing by the end of the sentence. he was suddenly angry again, as though he was experiencing the situation all over again. "Dumbass kid! He did it on purpose, I just know it! So I took my pencil and I gave him what he deserved!" And almost immediately he was terribly anxious again, remembering what had happened afterwards. (gore warning??) "I stabbed him! Right in the neck!" He wailed, and leaned against the wall of a house. His paws were covering his face. Finally, he wiped his face and tried to finish his story. "I don't know what happened to him, he probably went to the hospital..." He sniffled. "I'm such an impulsive little idiot! Why did I do that?" He sat and curled up into a little ball of sadness, and continued to curse at himself.

"Crap- I'm sorry-" He wiped his face immediately, feeling embarrassed. "This is what I get for talking to strangers..." He growled at himself. "I've completely humiliated myself.... do you think I've killed him? Have you seen him? You don't think I should be taken away from my mom for what I've done do you?" He squinted. "Don't tell anyone about this!"

Silver uwutuber

Cottonball

He simply sits there, a little shocked by how emotional he was. He stayed silent for a bit, thinking for a second, before he said slightly nervously "u-um I bet you he's probably fine. I mean.. it's just a pencil it couldn't have been that bad.." he firmly grabbed his shoulders " I mean.. dude.. I don't even really know why you chose me out of all people.. " he looked away for a second, a little embarrassed of himself for saying anything. He hadn't had to deal with anything like it before, so be wasn't sure if he was saying the right thing. "But like.. I think that asshole deserved it anyway. Not trying to say you should do it again but, you shouldn't feel to anxious about it my guy. Whoever you speak of was being a jerk soo.. maybe if you get the opportunity you could like apologize ir whatever." He took his paws off pakeu's shoulders before getting up. He sighed before looking him directly.

"I.. hope your ok or whatever.. but like if you need you can like call me or whatever"

He grabbed a piece of paper from the ground and wrote his number in pencil. He handed it over to Pakeu. Before he left he told him " Well uh.. if it's ok I'm going to leave now. Stay safe bro. Don't worry about me telling anyone btw, It's not like I have any reason to." He sort of sprinted away, waving at Pakeu as he did so.

Silver looked at the stranger anxiously. He tried to put on an angry expression on his face before walking up to them. He was shaking a little but he tried to keep calm and look tough before tapping them on the shoulder.

"Um.. Hey. Could you like follow me or whatever? I need to tell you something. Like a secret or some shit like that." He waited a little before quickly dragging the over to a random alleyway. He sat them down on the cold concrete floor. He sat down next to them and nervously coughed into his paw.

"I don't even know why I'm telling you this shit.. fucking uh.. whatever."

He began to lower his voice a little before saying "so.. you know that uh.. science agency place? Um.." He pauses for a second "Your probably not going to like believe me or whatever but.. IM NOT THE ONLY ONE BY THE WAY! but" he swallows quickly before raising his voice " They do horrible shit to like, everyone in there! They stuck some random shit in my arm! And I think I was like fucking dying because it hurt like so fucking bad!! It wasnt even like a vaccine ir some shit I like..An-and!" He begins to sniffles " And after that they would do other shit too! Like stick bombs in your eye to and throw you into a room of fucking angry ass bees and they would sting you like everywhere everywhere!" He got a sudden burst of embarrassment before putting his paw over his mouth before immediately removing it to grumble before saying "YOU DIDN'T HEAR SHIT!!"

Yeli M. S. PicklePantry

uwutuber

Yeli followed Silver to the alleyway, looking over his shoulder to the science place when asked about it and looking back when told more about it. He gave him a sympathetic and sad smile. "That's a lot to go through. You're very strong to still be here."
There was a moment of hesitation, but he reached out to pull Silver into a light hug. He wasn't sure if it was welcomed, but he felt it was appropriate. "To have dealt with all that while still so young, it's admirable. I'm not sure why they did all that to you and to others, but I'm glad you're safe from it." He pulled away from the hug and smiled lightly at Silver once more. "Don't let such a terrible past wipe that smile of yours off."

"Well... I guess I can tell you my secret," Yeli hummed against his cup of coffee. He smiled at you. "Love," he said with one finger pointed up. "That's how I get my roses to grow so big and beautiful. Well, that and I spray mist them with water early in the morning then water them at night. I use compost to help with their soil, too. But talking to my roses always seems to make them grow just a little faster."

Makoto RadiantzRain

She is intrigued as she listens to Yeli's secret- she always found it incredible whenever someone could grow such big and beautiful flowers, after all, she was also the "Goddess of Life". "Amazing." She whispers, eyes sparkling as she wishes to learn more.

---

Makoto sits down, fiddling with her talons and eyes locked firmly onto the floor, avoiding any possible eye contact. "A-A secret?" She spluttered, her facial expression one of pure shock. "Well... I guess I can let you into something..." She directs her head upwards, lost in thought as she dug through her memories for something she could share. "Once I burnt a forest down on the mortal world." She chuckled a little from the thought. "Caused injuries and even some dead."

Tatsuya💫 kharina

Tatsuya carefully examined the cyborg sitting on the other site of the table, quietly listening until they have finished speaking. A rather somber smile formed on his lips.

"I know it must hurt to not know, the unknown is the most terrifying thing after all…" Tatsuya sat up straight, wanting the latter to know that he is invested in the conversation. Sometimes, he tends to get more lax and while he usually doesn't mind slouching down on chairs and couches, he felt like it wasn't appropriate at the moment. "I know it isn't possible right now, but while you have never properly met them, they live right inside your heart, always by your side."

"…I hope that wasn't too cheesy."

————————————

"Hey, uhm… You know how I usually tend to avoid talking about my hair?" Tatsuya had this awkward expression on his face, barely being able to keep up eye contact. He was bad at it already, but talking about secrets just made it worse.  "I kind of… appreciate the jokes about me having a weird hairstyle. I find comfort in knowing that no one knows that I am blind there."

He carefully removes his hair from his right eye, revealing a shining red eye and an already healed scar. "This will stay between us okay? I am not usually this serious but… it means a lot to me."

N'arfi TwizzlyTwist

“Ah- allthough- red is a very pretty color.“ he mumbled. In fact, the best person in his world had red hair and red eyes. To not get sidetracked to think about his crush, he comes back to reality

He himself had a scar across his face. “ I don’t think a scar is much to worry about. It just shows that you’ve lived through hardship. If if makes you feel any better, I am completely blind in one eye too.” He touches his scar lightly, recollecting the hard battle he fought. Things get silent for a while until he clears his throat. “Well- I’m not very good at talking… apologies.”

“But don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone.”

——————————————-

“I know it’s a really stupid thing but.. I’m not as brave as i might seem on the outside.” He looks away and his ears tilt down slightly. “In fact.. most of the times I’m terrified and barely know how to keep things together. I’m supposed to be this hero but.. I know it’s selfish but.. I don’t want to be one. I’d love to just live a normal life and-“ His face turns a bit red and he looks down. “I’d love to grow old with Raha. But as our lives stand right now, I just know that one of us will meet our demise before we get the chance to.” He’s doing his best to hold back his sniffles but one tear falls to the ground. “Please- don’t tell people about this… or the fact that I’m crying.”

Candy ArtisticTiger

Candy’s ears flopped when he heard the sad secret. He looked at N’arfi and smiled secretly. “I won’t tell a soul!” He handed Him a small cupcake with his favorite colors on it. “Have a sweet treat for all your troubles, it’s free!”

——______

Candy cleared his throat. “My name wasn’t always candy. It used to be Calvin or something else with a C. I changed it because I felt it didn’t suit me. Also your actually do enjoy physical touch, but only from those I trust.”
