Another Kirchhoff brand knockoff of an existing forum game. How original.
In any case, here's one for those who enjoy the expectation vs. reality game, but want to write-- or want some assurance that they'll get-- a little more! It also looks like the old thread owner isn't active anymore, so here's one with active moderation if anything occurs, haha.
This game is simple! WITHOUT checking the profile of the character above, write a brief paragraph about what you think they might be like! Then, open up the profile and see how much you got right.
Since this is an EXPECTATION VS. REALITY thread, PLEASE DON'T claim the character above if you're familiar with who they are as a character! The game expects you to go into the profile unaware of its contents, so wait a few turns until you've spotted a character you don't recognize (or haven't read the profile of before).
RULES
- This is a HIGH-EFFORT THREAD. For this, I ask that the EXPECTATION and REALITY section be at least 5 and 3 decent sentences, respectively, at the VERY LEAST.
- Of course, quality over quantity. Only making assumptions like age range, gender, and species WILL NOT WORK, and there's plenty of other threads where you can guess this sort of information. It's fine if you want to assume these things to start off with, but PLEASE go more into depth. This should be an analysis of the character based on their icon and name, and SHOULD take time and effort. It's best to include things like personality, hobbies, and potentially guesses into their backstories? But simple guesses based on solely physical characteristics won't work.
- Be kind. You're allowed to make negative assumptions, but anything that directly attacks the artist or owner is an instant ban. "Probably has no friends because they're ugly asf" or "is dumb just like their owner" is not at all acceptable lmfao
- Cooldown is 3 people, [you] [x] [y] [z] [you]! This rule can be ignored if it has been longer than two days since the last post.
- If you claim, please fill it in 6 hours! Otherwise, the next user can skip you.
- Might be a bit of a niche one but I'll add it anyway: if your profile or character in particular is mature-locked, please let people know in your post so a minor doesn't claim you just to find out that they can't even see the profile happened to me lol
Of course, DM me if any issues arise. First poster gets a freebie, and if I don't recognize the character I'll reply to them. If I don't respond assume I've read it already lol

Expectation: Luna seems to be heavily associated with music, due to the hart (GEDDIT COS HEART + HARP-) on their head, and because of their name and hair it seems like they're partly made of clouds of some sort? I could be wrong, but they look a lot like a living cloud. Their half closed eyes give me a carefree sort of vibe, so they seem laid back and really relaxed? They also seem to be a cross with a fox of sorts! Or maybe they're an entirely different creature on their own 👀
Reality: DANG MSM?!?! LETS GOOOOO THE SONGS FROM MSM ARE SUCH A BOP- ok so anyways i initially thought he was a girl cos of how feminine he looked 😭 He definitely has the really passive and relaxed personality i expected. I also think the whole idea of him being able to play the harp on their head but also falling asleep from it is pretty cute! Its a really cute character, the lil cloud theme fits him so well 😭

EXP: so i've seen a bit of luna in the past but not enough where i can properly recount the character, so i think i'd be fine for this game? nonbinary, fem-leaning but any pronouns are go. i know they're based on cherubble from MSM, but perhaps they're more or less just an inspired character instead of actually in the MSM universe? they're shy and introverted, but they actually like their company but isn't sure on how to express it. this leads to them feeling lonely, where they like to express themselves in music, but they do wish they could have more outside time with the people they care about. aside from that, they love boba tea and video games lmao. i can imagine them being a much more casual, laid back figure instead of someone imposing and ambitious.
REAL: RIGHT OFF THE BAT IM WRONG LMAO. wow. kirchhoff's memory sucks ASS! he/it as opposed to any, and there is mentions of other cherubbles (he had more family before they were wiped), so i'm assuming this does take part in MSM instead of just being inspired. charismatic businessthing. Hm. not at all what i was expecting (but i do remember now that i've seen it that i've joked about it before... hm) totally the opposite of what i said. though i did hit something with him only expressing true joy around his partner when i guessed he enjoyed time with the people he cared about? and i don't think it's right to call a business person unambitious LOL wow i got it almost all wrong
EXP: a scientist who'll go to extremes to back up a certain belief. also nb with any pronouns? despite what you'd expect from someone working in science, they can be very close minded and firey, won't take no for an answer about their studies and hypotheses. they're pretty unconventional and wacky in their demeanour and methodology, preferring to just "get right into it" instead of doing the boring stuff like paperwork. they're pretty charismatic and humorous when they need to be, and is thus good at convincing people to "join their side" of scientific debates. despite this, i don't think they're evil, just a little too passionate about what they do.
REAL: they/he/she, i guess i was kind of in the same ballpark with any pronouns? he is a scientist but that was pretty obvious given the name. a lot more serious and sinister than i thought though! but i suppose. uh. they're a little wacky in their spontaneity... but im also a very spontaneous person and id cry if you called me wacky. uh. i was not expecting world domination. pretty upbeat and funky, i guess that's similar to being humorous? and i was not expecting patricide at all lmfaoooo...

i know i use mark a lot, but rest assured, this AU's different! even if you're familiar with who regular mark is, feel free to answer for this one, but everyone here can be used instead if there ends up being a hold-up even though this is my own damn game.
VV bingo !!! i'm so glad you caught onto that pun asdjfhkasdhf everyone else just either doesn't get it or doesnt bring it up IM SO HAPPY YOU MENTIONED IT!! it's both since he's both a military android (as in the more conventional definition of mark 2) but also he's mark 2 as in. he's mark . the second. another version of mark. mark 2
(note that harte's page is looong, please do not feel like you need to read all or even most of it, reading some should give you an idea of what his deal is)
expectations: so, i've seen mark around but haven't read his main page except for the little blurb that mentions the 'hate virus'! since this is a different AU i'm not sure whether or not that still applies. my guess is: MK II normally relates to guns and other military hardware, so i would anticipate that either the name of this AU is a play on that OR he genuinely is an artificially created being made for military purposes. white haired anime boys tend to occupy a certain niche- that is, either being super evil or super tragic or maybe a bit of both. because of what i already know about the 'hate virus' issue i'm leaning toward tragic, but i can see mark as an antagonistic character, especially with his ominous red eyes. if i had to guess, i would say that he is possibly an artificially created being used for combat, and might be rebelling against whatever created him, or he might be more powerful than intended, which caused disastrous consequences. also, i just think he's neat.
reality: YES..... we've got equal parts evil and tragic here; his nature obviously isn't evil but he IS an antagonist and was made for sinister purposes. unlike my expectations, he does not seem to rebel against his creator or cause disastrous consequences like i expected, and he was a lot softer and gentler than i anticipated, despite his desire to burn everything to a crisp and take over the world and all that jazz. i'm very charmed by him. i had anticipated that he would either be evil OR tragic based off of the classic white hair tropes, but it turns out he gets a bit of both! additionally, i was right on the mark (haha) about him being an artificially created being built to do all kinds of cute destruction and fun things like that. cheers

E- harte seems like a sweetheart, honestly. His pfp expression just seems so sweet and calm, with an understanding. Possibly has a burn scar from some sort of accident that happened in his early years. He seems to look fairly young, im guessing around early twenties possibly. I also feel like he might have a darker backstory, and i also feel like he might not be very close to family.
R- ok, so, he may SEEM like a kind understanding sweetie, but in reality hes quite the opposite haha. I could not really find anything on his eye mark, so tell me if i missed something on it. I was not all that suprised to learn im right about the age, you portray his youth clearly :-). Seeing he's an avid traveler, i'd assume im also correct on the part about him not being close to family.

expectation: well right from the get go im expecting to see a horror-esque oc, i dont know why but the style reminds me of andy's apple farm, so maybe something close to that? they'll probably have a pretty exploding personality, angry a lot of the times, loves to pick fights and to have friendly banter with their friends. the name kinda gives me the vibe that they might be in a sort of gang maybe? might be criminal pals with the characters next to them maybe? also despite their pretty intense personality they do care about their friends or gang and will protect them at all costs, often times being just a pure and utter bitch to those that bother them. if i am right on my part of a gang assumption i expect them to have a kinda dark backstory, maybe losing ur parents and ending up wherever they would be taken to kinda style? also from the name i expect to be pretty smart too when they put their mind to it and not let their emotions take over.
reality: oh i was way off with the gang thing oml, she is a mad scientist damn! i guess i was kinda right with the horror-esque assumption, the stuff she does is pretty scary huh? was kinda right with the personality part too, she does seem to be pretty intense but smart at times. was not right at all about the close-knit group of friends part damn, i dont think killing the son of ur friend could be really classified as caring for someone huh, nor protecting either. she did have an extremely dark backstory though! although it didnt go the way i expected it to go at all. overall a pretty nice character!! it was very interesting reading her profile :o
EXP: male, perhaps in their mid-to-late twenties but they could be quite a deal older than they let on. seeing from the scars, perhaps they're a warrior or soldier type character? i've seen them around as your pfp a lot... not sure why but that gives me the vibes of them being your player avatar in a certain video game? they have video game vibes asdjfhajsdh. they're quiet and shy, not willing to talk much with people they're unfamiliar with, but it's perhaps a result of bad memories from fighting and secretly wants to connect more with people, but they might have a family or certain figure they do open up with. as for weaponry i imagine them using a bow? that scarf has major archer vibes lol. they're not exactly kind to the people around them and come across as cold, but they're a good person on the inside, just uninterested in the emotionalness of others. they fight to defend their hometown, perhaps? maybe they have a horse, either for riding into battle or just for leisurely ownership?
REAL: well i was not expecting to already have him favourited, but trust me i've never read his bio before LOL
he's in a folder called "dark souls", so i'm assuming that's the game! right about him being male and mid-twenties, also about him being a warrior, but i'm wrong on his choice of weaponry, he's a swordsman! i also wasn't expecting him to know magic. i'm also wrong about him being unkind, he's a nice guy! but he has been rendered mute due to his trauma, so i'm not completely off the mark. he is a good person though adjfhjdsh. he stepped in his dad's role to protect his hometown, nice! didn't expect there to be a curse involved but i also don't find it too surprising. unfortunately i'm not familiar with dark souls lore so i can't comment more, but it looks like i've got a decent guess, even if i was off on a few places! nothing about him owning any pets, though.

Expectation: Casey works in some corporate office but works more on labor-y stuff, along the lines with people using spreadsheets, arranging documents, or something that. For some reason, in the story he got a promotion and he doesn't work with more labor jobs, like manager or something. I can also see he can work at the computer or IT related companies, looks smart dude and can code a lot. Making programming more of a hobby than a career. He seems to be the silent/reserved type, not interested joining on those parties made by the company for an event. Besides that, he is actually chill guy to hang out with, though he drinks alcohol but maybe like wines, liquor, and champagne kind of stuff. Deep inside he could be pessimistic behind the relaxed character of his, who still struggling to thrive in his career despite how he worked for the long time.
Reality: I see the character several times but never got deeper to his info. Didn't expect him to be antagonistic/evil, and way opposite to my expectations. The part about being pessimistic view is kinda close but rather him being insecure and self-hating rather than external reasons... but still pessimistic. I am right about him being reserved however. Didn't expect him to be into parties too, which was opposite to what my expectations too. Seems he is pretty much the wild type in the parties. Seems he doesn't work at a corporate IT or computer companie, and nothing about programming. Instead he is a college student studying English and likes to read literature. As well as he is in a retail job, kinda close to the more labor focused job expectation.

expectations: despite their appearance i feel like they're some sort of teacher, maybe a college professor? they seem like the kind of person who is extremely chill and cold a lot of the time, not in a shy or awkward way but they just prefer to keep to themselves, but they're actually one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. very into rock and/or metal music, maybe they are or were in a rock band at some point in their life, plays (or played) either an electric guitar or drums. again they tend to appear cold and distant so they dont speak much and they're kind of an outcast but they don't mind it, and actually prefer to be on their own or with a small and close group of people they trust rather than big groups. they're very welcoming and accepting of others and encourages those around them to be themselves, i feel like they're the kind of person you'd feel safe opening up to and they'd be a great listener.
reality: oo i did NOT expect them to be a chemist lol not gonna lie. i feel like my general idea of them was pretty close even though i got some things wrong. i was right about them being part of a band, even though i couldn't have guessed that it's an anarcho-punk band specifically and there was no way i would've guessed theyre a violinist. as i thought he is reserved but he is accepting of others and also stands by his beliefs, he seems to care a lot about his community. i think it's a little funny that i thought they were in a metal band when in reality they dislike metal music lol. i still think he'd be a fun person to be around!
Expectation: his pfp reminds me of those like gym bros in a sense? So I think this bab would be a athlete or sports maniac. Maybe even an adrenaline junkie.

oh goodness! Poor girl, her story is so dark! I was wrong about her being a sona, but she seems like the main character of her story!! She certainly still seems to match my description of her being timid and shy, so i think i was right about that! I was also correct about her being well off, so thats something! And she seems to have very few friends, so i was correct there too. I hope her story ends happy atleast :(
