"What a sad fate has been threaded on my self then."

A merchant that was cursed into becoming a sphinx after meddling into places she shouldn't have. He now roams the world without really a clear purpose, selling various good related to witchcraft, like protective charms or reagents for spells of defense and protection, in hopes they can help someone not fall into the same fate as them.

They are usually left alone to their own devices, due to his unusual looks, so he spends a lot of time just by himself, collecting things around forests and crafting goods to sell later. She doesn't really have any relatives or friends left, due to them leaving after her incident or her just going out and away into the world. They were adamant at first at looking up for a cure for this awful thing that plagues their ever-waking moments, but has since given up for the most part. Although, the curse is getting a lot worse with time, more violent. Parts of her skin seems to be sizzling away from the inside out, covered by a black substance similar to how grief and regret would look like...

Height 7'0 (from head to end of tail)
Body Type similar to a cat's
Weight 264 pounds
Body Shape slim

Voice Claim
She has kinda of a typical american voice, with no thick accent. It goes more in the deep direction than the sharp one, especially since after the curse, where it also became a lot raspier and beast-like.
Handwriting right handed
Their handwriting is VERY messy, like almost to the point of not being understable at all. This is because they don't write often, since writing while being partially and sometimes even fully blind is a really hard task.

Since she is a sphinx, her body consists of a humanoid-like face and a feral body. His face resembles a lion's while still remaining kinda human. They have a small and sharp nose, a pretty big mouth with big fangs in it and sharp teeth and two eyes, one of which is colored a vivid red and the other is completely black, including the sclera. Their mask covers their eyes completetly when it is being used. It resembles a crown and curves around her head, fitting perfectly around her skull. It has nine pointy segments, one of which holds an aquamarine gem.

Her body is a mish-mash of a lot of different animals. Firstly, the fluff on her neck and around her head resembles a lion's mane and has distinct fur patterns that look like stars. The fluff extends all the way to her belly, it doesn't really dangle like a beard, instead pressing against her body. The main body looks like a slim cat's with pretty short hair, it is hairy but not fluffy, although you cannot see the skin beneath. They have two pairs of arms: the upper pair is more thin than the lower pair and counts with human looking hands. Meanwhile, the second pair is more reminiscent of that of an stlized moth's. Their feet are a mixture of bird + monkey, since they do have opposable thumbs on them. Her tail consists of three parts, one thick one resembling a rat's tail and two smaller and thinner parts that look like ribbons. His wings are an odd combination of bird + moth wings.

Accessories

He can be seen usually wearing two plain gold-colored medallions, hanging from his mane like some kind of earrings. They don't really have any special meaning other than combining with her mask and making it not look so out of place.

They also ocasionally wear other accesories, mostly rings and bracelets. They like to wear the shiniests ones they can find, with the most beautiful gems the world has to offer, so that people focus more on those than everything else about her.

Body Markings

She has circle-like marks on her shoulders, elbows, shins and wings. The markings are meant to resemble a moth's markings.

Another skin marking is the one left away by the curse when it started getting bad. For now, it just covers her entire forehead and the parts around and on her left eye. It looks like goopy black substance, with grey bubbles within, it seems to grow in size spontaneously, peeling away parts of his skin slowly.

Design Notes
  • His markings and mask CAN be simplified.
  • Mask is OPTIONAL, although really preferred.
  • You can make the goopy effects of her curse a lot more drastic and gorey if you want, and make it affect more places.
Positive Traits
practical mature realistic genuine
Neutral Traits
particular mellow ritualistic self-conscious
Negative Traits
secretive blunt impulsive careless

Goals
In the way of practical goals, she goes about them in a day to day basis. Today's goal might be to sell at least 2 flasks, but tomorrow, who knows, whatever the future may hold.
Hopes
They don't really have a lot of hopes left, especially for themselves. Change for her is nothing more than a faraway dream, the only thing she can truly hope and maybe go out of her way to make true is keep living in relative peacefulness.
Secrets
He doesn't really have a lot of secrets due to not speaking to people much, but the one thing she will NEVER tell anyone is her past life and how she got the curse.
Dreams
As mentioned before, the biggest of their unrealistic dreams is wanting to go back in time and relive her past life, even if just for a second. She dreams very often about returning to how things were before everything went to shit.

She is a quite the lonely little fella and doesn't interact with people very often, the only exceptions being when she has to sell something or someone for some reason decides to actually come visit her wherever he is staying at the moment. They are very wise and have gained a lot of knowledge from their travels, mostly from observing how various people act and do things, but she is not really keen in sharing it with anybody.

Other than that, he is a real work-aholic, like to the point he can't really live without constantly doing crafts or selling goods. She doesn't really have a creative or imaginative mind, instead finding comfort in routine and repetition. Change can be a really scary thing, especially so if the only big change in your life made you lose everything you had and wasn't totally planned for.

Strengths
  • Sticking to a routine and doing repetitive tasks without much trouble. It is not very often she gets truly bored, even if she is doing the same thing over and over.
  • Organization. He can be very organized when it comes to mundane things and life in general, as long as feelings dont get in the way.
  • Stealth. They can be very stealthy and go unnoticed most of the times if they want to. This got a little bit harder to do after the curse changed her, but she is still pretty damn good at it at times.
Weaknesses
  • Very impulsive if there is someone she really cares about on the line. He will do anything for those he loves, even to the point of not thinking about consecuences.
  • Not good with change AT ALL. If you put them in an unfamiliar enviroment or change something about what they have grown accustomed to, they will not be having a good time.
  • Not very creative when solving problems. Even if she wants to solve something really badly, she still has to stick to what is known of working out before.
FIRST STEPS OF A NAIVE CHILD,

Ashka lived a fairly peaceful and calm childhood. Her parents were owners of some big plots of land, making their family be somewhat on the rich side, not quite like royalty but pretty close. Due to this, Ashka grew oblivious to a lot of problems brewing around them, like the very real threat of civil wars and ever-growing poverty in some of the biggest villages (now on their way to become full-on cities). He grew up in his own bubble of innocence, ignorant to all the loss and pain that could be hidden at every corner, but that wouldn’t come to hunt them until much much later. For now, when she finally was ready to go out into the world, she did so as she was taught, with polite manners and kind words and ,above all, evading all possible trouble.

TIMES COVERED WITH RIBBONS OF GOLD AND A SKY SO BRIGHT.

Once Ashka became old enough, she started managing the land along with her parents, although that mostly meant going out into cities and villages to buy products for them and find suitable workers. He quickly became quite knowledgeable of his surroundings, especially that of markets around big cities, and of course, of its merchants. There was one shop that stood out to Ashka, a small outlet almost at the edge of some far off market that sold all sorts of things related to witchcraft and supposed magic. Now, Ashka wasn’t really the sort to believe in all that stuff, and less the kind of fellow to actually buy into the lies they told, plus, she had already seen a fair share of shops just like this one, some even bigger and with a lot more interesting and shiny brand new stuff; but there was one thing that kept her coming back to that little corner of the world: the store owner. She was a beautiful woman with a big passion for what she was doing and a love for everything in the world. Her name was Lylac.

They immediately clicked, spurring chats that extended all the way until nightfall, talks of faraway lands and mysterious trinkets, of strange people and even stranger homes, of every sight the world had to offer either from the comfort of a small market shop or the long winded walks of an adventurer. They became really good friends over the course of a couple years and eventually, ended up being lovers. Ashka learned how to do all kinds of witchcraft-y goods and rituals, even though she didn’t truly believe in them, she just liked to spend time with her lover. Lylac, on the other hand, went on all kinds of adventures around the world, enjoying her time along with the love of her life. Things were pretty good in the couple years they were together, like a honeymoon that seemed to never end, but there was something brewing on the sidelines, a threat that could very well be fatally dangerous, yet so very invisible to the eye and the mind distracted, that not one soul seemed to notice…

In those recent times, a rumor had started to rise, claiming that every single thing, object or person, that claimed to be even slightly in contact with anything supernatural was becoming increasingly threatening. This belief grew very acute with time and time, as a lot of religious organizations seemed to grow in size by the minute, and they seemed to be obtaining results with was seemed to be no more just a belief. A lot of these devoted people had been able to get all kinds of items, be it books or trinkets or even whole buildings, that actually seemed to alter the understanding of what was possible and what wasn’t. Some were able to raise whole cities in the blink of an eye, some brought fort creatures of light and good before unimaginable and some even challenged death. But all these things came with very expensive and gruesome prices. More and more villages turned out to be fully sacrificed from one night to the other in the name of rituals and knowledge. This had to be stopped.

  DEATH ARRIVES, SO VERY SILENTLY,

No one warned a single soul when the prohibition came on, they just started killing everyone that seemed even slightly involved in anything magic. The first massacre was a bloodshed. That very same market that once was covered with blooming lilacs and white roses now found on every single corner of its bloody ground the body of a once flourishing life. Lylac was working on the market that very cruel day, but Ashka was out to see their bedridden and sickly old parents, to talk about something so very nonsensical and heartless as inheritance. When she finally heard the news, she felt like she couldn’t even believe it, like she couldn’t even begin to process the grief and loss because simply there shouldn’t be none to do so. He couldn’t even handle the idea of thinking about death, so he denied it, but never moved on from that, and never grew eventually into acceptance. Instead, they made a plan to retrieve a single artifact, one that had become quite famous in recent times, to the point of even being know by the usual normal everyday person: the “Soul-ashes”, one of the many relics that claimed to challenge and even revert death, but one that was almost surely guaranteed to work, if her eyes didn’t deceive her; for one time she stood right beside a funeral and saw the body rotten and mauled by the very earth rise again and greet the sunshine. That couldn’t be a lie, it mustn't.

And so she adventured, the pressing feeling of pure and utter loneliness becoming ever increasingly present by the minute, but that only served to fuel her every step. He reached the temple of sweet promises in less than a week and began to plan his attack on it and, of course, the very delicate heist. But they couldn’t plan for everything, and much less being overtaken by the urgency of having that part so purely vital to you back. One can’t think without a heart. And so, when the time came to put the plan in action, she did achieve what she was there for, the soul-ashes resting tenderly on their hands, yet not before she was struck with a horrible curse: her body shifted beneath her skin as her bones rearranged in odd positions and she felt a pure white fur grow under her face. Everything in him changed at once, taking so many different forms; that of a bird, or a rat, or a lion or something never before seen. And when it was over she didn’t even think about standing there, distracted by the change, instead bolting out of the place, getting used to her new self, thinking deep inside that this was the most terrible of fates, yet she will have to ponder that in another time.

AND WITH ITS SICKLE TAKES EVERYTHING THEY EVER HAD.

Adjusting to the new physicality of hers didn’t take long, surprisingly. Coming to terms with what it really meant, in terms of her relation with the world and the people she knew and was to know, was what really took a toll in the pondering department. He spent a couple months in some far off woods, living off whatever the land was kind enough to offer. He learnt to hunt, gather and craft, all while that black vase full of possible lies but even sweeter promises stood proudly in the middle of it all, almost mockingly. She avoided every single chance she got to look at herself. They couldn’t bear it, still really can’t.

The first thing they did other than just surviving, the first step to go back to even a semblance of normal existence, was to finally try if the soul-ashes really did work. Things had calmed down since the first massacres, since most magic users were now either dead or hiding really well, but she still tried her best to remain out of sight to any possible passerby, not because they maybe would have gotten violent, if they even said anything it would probably be full of pity, “another victim of the cruel witches” they would say; but because she didn’t want another human being to see the barbarous side-effects of his own stupidity. The ashes did work, or at least she chooses to believe they did, because he didn’t want to wait there to see if the belief actually became a proper physical effect. If they did, Lylac is now roaming free the streets of a new world, now reborn into something else that may or may not be the same as before. If they didn’t… Well, who knows, it's a mystery they don’t want to dwell on.

NOW THE CHILD ROAMS IN NOTHINGNESS,
  AND SURVIVES OFF THE LAND.
OH, WHAT A SAD WORLD THEY LIVE IN.
OH, WHAT A CRUEL FATE TOOK PART.
Fun Facts
  • Her hand-made goods mostly consist of knitted or brewed products. He tried picking up woodworking and even metalworking once, but they weren't really fit for a wandering merchant like himself.
  • They love to cook, like adore it, but she doesn't really do it very often because it reminds her of past memories, where they used to cook FOR someone.
  • The origin of the mask is unkown, even to them. Once the curse started eating away the skin on her face, the mask one day suddenly appeared in his temporal home after he came back from selling.
  • They became partially blind after the curse started getting bad, so they learned to do a lot of things without actually looking. While using the mask, her vision is completetly cut off, so he mostly uses it when doing routinary things like selling or crafting. When traveling and visiting new places, she usually doesn't do it masked, due to not being familiar with her inmediate sorroundings.

Hobbies
  • Map-making. They are no professional cartographer, but they often make little makes to make themselves familiar with the terrain. Ocassionally sells them in her shop, but mostly keeps them to herself.
  • Hunting and gathering. Due to needing reagents for a lot of goods, he has become quite the avid hunter and a decent enough gatherer to the point of recognizing a lot of different species of mushrooms and other flora.
Values
  • They believe there isn't any god out there, or at least, there isn't any kind one.
  • They are heavily against using violence to solve a problem, under ANY circumstance. She believes everything can be solved by anything else before resorting to violence. Although, she has never herself gotten in any real trouble admittely.
  • They used to believe anyone could be redemeed, that badness wasn't innate and could be solved, but has since grown out of it with time.

Possessions
  • Not much, since they travel a lot, a heavy cargo is not really ideal. She takes a, now pretty ragged, blanket always with her to set up shop on, the crafted and sometimes traded goods she has available at the moment and some food she managed to get from the town before.
  • He also has various jewelry he managed to collect always with him, some he ocassionaly sells if he finds himself lacking in the money department.

Behavior Towards...
Strangers
She tries to go as unnoticed as she can with strangers, trying to be done with conversations quickly while still seeming polite. He is not fond at all of overly friendly strangers, and likes to keep personal space for himself. They aren't really aggresive with strangers like ever, only exception being if you mention anything related to her curse or the magic wars.
Friends
She isn't really sure how to act around friends, since she didn't have a lot of friendships in her life. He is usually pretty shy, especially in big friends friend groups, and let himself be lead wherever the group goes. Tries to care and listen to everyone, but sometimes it gets too much for them, leading to various periods of isolation across her life.
Love Interests/Crushes
Awkward, awkward as hell. Never makes the first move, always hopes they can get her thoughts telepathically, will never confess to anyone unless they are absolutetly sure there is something between them, which is very rare, cause again, most of the times she won't even speak with her crushes.
Family
He doesn't have a really close relantionship with his family, but she loves them nonetheless. The closest relantionship she used to have was with her uncle, since he was the one who really raised her. Nowadays, he doesn't really have any bonds with his family anymore, since after she got cursed, she just seemed to dissapear from the face of the earth for all her previous loved ones.
Acquaintances
Most acquaintances she has nowadays are regular customers in the various towns she visits and her attitude with them isn't really a lot different than her attitude with strangers, aside from a slight acknowledgement of their existence and likes/usual goods they buy.
Close Friends
They had only had one or two close friends on their whole life, because again, they aren't really experienced with friendship. Nonetheless, she cares a lot about her close friends, and tries to show her love for them everyway she can, even though is not really that easy for her to do that. He is really talkative with close friends, and will literally tell them every single little thing happening in his life until they get tired of hearing his voice, she finds talking and spending quality time together as a really important form of love and appreciates everyone that sticks around to do that. She is pretty loyal and attached to her friends, sometimes even to the unhealthy point of siding with them in every issue that could arise and putting them in a pedestal of almost perfection.
Lovers
She has only had one lover in her life, Lylac, so her experience with lovers is very limited. They tend to be very clingly and loving with their partner, never leaving their side for anything and always pulling them in either an embrace or any other form of physical contact. The only thing she struggles with when she is in a relantionship is communication, since he is really often scared of ruining the perfect loving thing both him and his partner have created.

Lylac  complicated

Ashka used to be in pretty healthy and lasting relantionship with Lylac, to the point of becoming her fiancé. After their lover was murdered and then revived by their own hands, Ashka became very distant, not even wanting to look at her own work. She isn't even sure if Lylac is actually alive, but doesn't really want to find out, due to the fear of the possible reactions his lost lover could have to his new self.
