I want to see a world in which...

The worldbuilding version of the show and tell game about characters, TH users, and stories!

Game's simple to play. The user before you ends their post with "I want to see a world in which..." followed by a feature of the world or lore. If this feature applies to any of your worlds, you can post a claim and edit your post to explain which world and how it applies.

Because some characters and OCs belong to worlds that aren't of their creator's making, I urge people to only post worlds or lore that they have at least partial ownership over! So your OC's headworld, a DnD world you and your party modified, homebrew worlds, heavily altered canon worlds, RP group worlds where every member contributes to how the world looks, etc. are all fine.

So long as you can say "Yes, that's lore that I (and my buddies) actively came up with" it's a world you can answer with! After all, these threads are to showcase your creativity and show what you've achieved ;v;

Posts can be made in various formats:

  • I want to see a world (in) which...
  • I want to see a bit of lore (in) which...
  • I want to see a country within your world (in) which...
  • Etc.

So long as it relates to worldbuilding, all's fine. In the same vein, the prompt doesn't need to be true for your entire world. Someone asks for a world where the dog is a central figure, you can answer with your country of Canicula even if the country of Felistris disagrees with that prompt. So long as it is true somewhere in your world, you're fine.

And feel free to elaborate! Just answering "That's my world" ain't as much fun as going into detail or linking to an article you wrote. Because most people don't have their world info uploaded in public like they have their OCs, just claiming and explaining's all fine.

Suggestions for themes you can ask for

  • Inhabitants. I want to see a world which has orcs; I want to see a world with kind demons; I want to see a world where aliens exist and have visited the planet you focus on; I want to see a world with people who mirror your country's; I want to see a world with exceptionally happy inhabitants; I want to see a world filled with dangerous creatures; etc.

  • Events that took place. I want to see a world that was created in a short period of time; I want to see a world that had a large world war at some point; I want to see a world where the people rose up to a dictatorship; I want to see a world where humanity was wiped out; etc.

  • Themes. I want to see a world that focuses on the balance between light and darkness; I want to see a world where absolute grey morality reigns; I want to see a world where themes of depression are handled; I want to see a world in the murder mystery genre; I want to see a medieval fantasy world; etc.

  • Features. I want to see a world with an elemental magic system; I want to see a world with a large amount of oceans; I want to see a world with magic that avoids using the trope of the single established magical institution; I want to see a world where you're building two or more planets; etc.

  • Lore and history. I want to see lore in which a prince played an important role; I want to see lore with a good guy and a bad guy; I want to see lore where a large institution rose against a dark lord; I want to see lore in which a magical item played a large role; etc.

  • Storylines which take place inside of it. I want to see a world you made for a tabletop game; I want to see a world ideal for fantasy parties to go exploring; I want to see a world with a large mystery begging to be uncovered; etc.

  • Things you developed for the world. I want to see a world you developed specific traditions for; I want to see a world you plan to use in a webcomic; I want to see a world you wrote a poem about; I want to see a world that has art of a map; I want to see a world with an alphabet you developed; etc.

  • Out of character info. I want to see a world you have spent at least five years on; I want to see a world that you consider complete; I want to see a newly created world; I want to see a world you created together with your friends; etc.

Try to avoid being far too specific to avoid blocking the game for too long. If you feel your request is specific, you can also add a 6 hour condition which is more lenient. For example: I want to see a world with mute ape people. If none after 6 hours, a world with furred creatures who walk on two legs is fine too.

If no one responded to the previous prompt in 12 hours, feel free to post a new one!

To start off: I want to see a world inhabited by various fantasy species/races!

Pine_Niidles

My steampunk world, Beledrift (not a lot of info there yet), has a variety of different humanoid species, depending on which region you go to. Humans are the dominant ones on the main continent of Beledrift where all the drama really happens and various countries have various views on non-humans. Most are negative or neutral aside from one country where they are worshiped as direct descendants of the gods. A while away there's an archipelago of mer-people who benefit from a lot of trade from the main continent but aside from that tend to try and stay out of whatever's going on there.

Some other species aside from just the mers include: the mostly human(in blood and appearance) descendants of the lizard people, clockwork robots, witches which are actually mutant humans, feathery dragonfolk, and a few others.

I'd love to see a world with cities built not in your typical locations (underwater, in trees, on the side of cliff-faces, floating, ect!)

A lot of it I do not have written down and I still have a ton of world building to do.  Sonazia is an alien planet with several different species.  The main one is vorox and they don't build cities but they do create large systems underground to live in.

It is the glens that create the cities as they are more advanced than vorox.  I have yet to write info on them yet.

There are several different sub species of glenn and they build their homes accordantly.
Fire glenn build their homes in deserts, there isn't anything that special about them apart from the fact that their cities often have ceilings.  This is because of sandstorms and to keep all the sand from getting in.  There is a large hole in the middle so they still get fresh air and sunlight but it is covered when a sandstorm is expected to arrive.  They are the most aggressive and need high walls to protect themselves from their neighbors that they probably are at war with for some reason or another.

Water glenn are much more peaceful and don't have much of a need for high protection.  The lakes they build their homes on is often enough to keep others away anyway.  Their buildings are made to float on the water and will move around on the lake.  Those who are close friends will attach their buildings to each other so they can always be near each other.  More important buildings in the city are grounded in place.  No one has issues getting from place to place because they have no issue swimming.

Wind Glenns build their cities in the trees, making treehouses and bridges.  Each house has to have a pathway for them to walk through to get to the next place so no one is ever really alone.  They often will just walk into other's houses and it is considered totally normal.

I would like to see a story where a lot of main characters are robotic.

squidknees

12hrs have passed! spaceverse will eventually have a bunch of AI characters in the main cast but it's a very heavy wip right now so I don't have a lot of facts ;;

I wanna see a world you did a lot of research for!

ducclord

I have to say Raichleach! I haven't uploaded the written world yet (I'm on mobile rn fjgkkekf) but I've done a bunch of research on geographical areas as well as how the natural flora and fauna grow and a lot on myths and legends regarding to gods and deities to nake my own deities a bit more realistic!I I'm tryna build up the history of Raichleach rn :v

Show me a world where the lands are usual! Like they're floating islands or mostly underwater and stuff!

Naiad_Ni

Im not a big world-building fanatic but i think i get what youre saying there and id go for Kamari (its not like its my only most developed world pffff) since its mostly consistent of clouds because its a gas planet. Maybe the introduction there is outdated but clouds will stay clouds. I have all there origins right now only on paper because i want to develop this world into a story and i dont want to spoil too much.

i want to see a world/planet that have a lot of other planets seen in the sky!

I wanna see a modern or futuristic setting in which magic is commonplace :o

Nuclear-Hydrangea

Here comes my project. The House of Phantoms, modern day science fantasy where magic is common (via genetics or other sources usually).

Show a world inspired by food, if 6 hours pass, any world with unusual, surreal, or bizarre themes
