Admins being hypocrites? (CBC discussion)

Posted 4 months, 25 days ago (Edited 15 days, 17 hours ago) by SIGNALIS

Hii so idk how to start this but let’s say what’s up th admins?!

I believe it’s valid to say that doing cbcs (character based characte/character based custom) is a way to sneak into a copyright. Recently half of my cbcs Where nuked.

id have understood that on the first place but…

EDIT: I’m just pointing out that this user has cbcs NOT that they’re an admin.

YOU CAN GET BANNED FROM TOYHOUSE!

I’m not dragging them into drama as stated we are concerned with the moderation not jaywalk

i‘d like to add many popular artists that are friends with admins or just simply popular have done enstars cbc and SOLD them. But of course th has its favorites ❤️

EXAMPLE OF A CBC ACCORDING TO TH RULES

IMG-7570.png

this is my oc Guadalupe (sorry for the weird censor of the blood ;;)

his bio is that he’s an Angel etc

he’s a cbc based off rinne amagi from the hit game ensemble stars

picture here for reference

and he still got nuked :,D

edit explaining the situation: I am fully aware the rules states this and that…however this discussion is how the management is applied. As far I’ve seen and aware there’s multiple popular artists selling cbcs for good money (example I literally saw a popular artist sell furry vocaloids) and no one bats an eye while people that follow the rules making sure the cbcs is a completely inspired character gets taken down and removed due to being “fanart”.

-Admins do not look into the character or if it’s just a furry version as folks that are a system got their alters taken down (correct me if I’m using the wrong words I just felt that was very disrespectful from the admins).

might As well sell cbcs since it’s “fanart” and I’m just making merch 😝

List of alternatives!

I know this about CBCs but it’s all

About the admin being weird.

Responding to the comments above since a friend pointed out

- i don’t understand yall’s point at all, like yeah *maybe* my cbcs got reported. But that’s not just a welp ya got reported and popular don’t because they aren’t reported: like?? Ya reading what ya said?? That’s exactly the problem of the post ;;;/pos not tryna be mean but read the comments pls

I don’t understand the rules are rules comment as well if the rules are literally telling me it’s okay to have cbcs with (dif bio and dif name) i can show the ticket sc if ya want lolz and people still say your CBC CAN BE TAKEN DOWN STILL.

Please don’t target me in this discussion anymore and i made the in table a discussion post for everyone about experiences and moderation. My case whenever be reported or not is n/a

My Terraria Boss-based OCs was literally just ALL nuked and I literally did everything to be sure they followed the CBCs rule, they weren't even in the same world and same species as before, they were my OWN species, it's actually so stupid, if THEY get nuked then shouldn't all the Minecraft-Mob based ones on the site? Yeah, nah, I despise that rule and I just won't bother uploading any new characters that isn't 100% my own anymore, it's so bothersome.

HORRORWOOF

They did this to me too with the ic!! It's because I had his full name as his name, so they just said to fix it, and they released it!! Plus they didn't delete him, jut put him on personal only until I reuploaded and got it approved!!

I won’t ever understand why someone would go out of their way to report someone’s own PERSONAL CBC’s.  Of course selling them would be one thing, but if a user just… has them?  And gives credit to the source material?  I don’t see a problem!

I don’t have CBC’s myself (they aren’t my cup of tea) so this is just my own perspective from the outside looking in!

I personally was wondering if version of Shepard or Hawke from mass effect/dragon age would be against the rules? They are technically an au version of characters bioware made, like you can play as Shepard as the game made them or customize your own Shepard. Like I know bioware wants you to do that and encourages it but wouldn't it still be in violation of the sites rules?

I do have something to confess: one of my oldest OCs (that of which I have yet to put them on-site) is literally a character from a very obscure educational korean manwha that I used to read to death, only as an anthromorphic cat. And another one was my favorite character from an indonesian Line Webtoon title just as a Cookie from the Cookie Run universe. (I'll give you a hint: said webtoon title involves personifications of the Seven Deadly Sins in it)

So... you can probably tell that younger me wasn't that original when it comes to creating OCs. Users on TH may have gone through the same thing like me when creating and owning CBCs. They don't really care if their character might be unoriginal, they just own it for the sake of owning it.

Also, I'm kinda wondering how fancharacters for stuff like the mobile games Twisted Wonderland and (the yet to be released) Ride Kamens get approved on this site… considering that a huge portion of both games' cast are based off after either Disney villains or Kamen Rider characters respectively. Not that I already have an idea for a Ride Kamens FC, anyways.

Shepard and Hawke fall under the customizable player character section in rule 5.2! So they're allowed :>

TL;DR: I ramble on about how I may not like CBCs, but I think that people that have them shouldn't have to worry about losing them due to unequal moderation

As much as I really do not like CBCs/Kinsonas/dekudogs/whatever they're called these days, Over the years I've found that my issue with them isn't that they exist? It's with people selling them and not disclosing their nature beforehand. I've gotten at least two confirmed dekudogs(one of which was a semicustom where I definitely should have been asked before it was created) that I wasn't aware were dekudogs until literal years after the fact because I was not told. I redesigned them, but if I had known what I was getting, I would not have got them because I personally do not want to own CBCs.

Do I think TH isn't the right place for CBCs? Yeah. Do I think it's dumb that the rules aren't equally enforced? Also yeah.

Now, I think it's impossible to ban CBCs entirely. Because at the end of the day, almost every OC maker starts out with one. I had some old OCs that were rips of books I was reading when I was a kid. I don't think I even have those OCs anymore. But, I also don't think that OCs that are clearly just 'x character/person as a dog' should be allowed either, considering the whole thing with people making technoblade dekudogs after he died(I'm not even in the fandom, I just found it in real bad taste because, well, obvious reasons). But, shit, maybe it is time to change the rule again. And this time to make it a bit more forgiving.

And again, I don't like CBCs myself, I don't allow them in the ARPG I run because that's kinda my space to make my rules(not to say they are completely banned). But someone just owning one without any intent of selling should not have to worry about losing their CBCs.
