🧊Ianthina Come Ashore🧊 (Last Day!)

On the mainland, ianthina are feared: they are the beasts that lurk under the waves and creep in the dark, but this wasn't always the case. Long ago, ianthina used to be victims--human sacrifices chained to rocks waiting for a hungry god--but no more. Swept away by the mighty Leviathan to the far north, their bodies have been twisted and changed to withstand the most bitter cold, the darkest depths, and the fiercest storms.

To this day, ianthina continue to reside in the frigid depths of Olitskur. There, contrary to the fearsome reputation they have on the mainland, they have become a deeply community-oriented people, willing to do anything to help another. There is a single adage echoed in every Olitsken home: "You don't need to go alone."

They are, have become, and will be survivors.

But for sailors who brave the ocean waves, Olitsken ianthina are terrors of the sea: they are notorious pirates that will take out any ship that dares to stray too far from the agreed on borders. When those beautiful, colorful lights appear beneath the waters, a sailor knows he's seen his doom.

In spite of this on-going conflict, each side has treasures the other covets, and they set aside their differences for one night a season for a celebration of free trade. The ianthina bring a host of treasures from the deep, and anyone may visit and mingle among them to meet, greet, and try to find what it is they yearn for.
