Written Trait Guide:
Common:
- Star- or W-shaped pupils
- Rounded fins: an overall smooth, round shape
- Wavy fins: the edges of the fin dip between the rays, creating a wavy appearance
- Symmetrical tail: the top and bottom fins on the tail have matching shapes
- Freckle lumens: Small, dot-shaped lumens
- Spot lumens: Bigger lumens that are still circular, often overlap for dense patches
Uncommon:
- String-of-pearl- or ray-shaped pupils
- Spiked fins: Firmer rays and less fin create a sharp, pointed appearance
- Ruffled fins: There is more fin between each ray than typical, creating a wide, ruffled look
- Asymmetrical tail: the top of the tail's fin is a different shape from the bottom
- Ring: Akin to spot lumens, except the center of each circle is not filled
- Star lumens: The lumens are not round and have pointed edges, resembling starbursts
Rare:
- Bar- or heart-shaped pupils
- Lionfish: Each ray, with its portion of the fin, is separate, creating individual spines. (Ianthina with this trait are toxic.)
- Long fins: Fins are much longer than typical.
- Unique tail: Any tail shape that doesn't follow the above parameters. This includes, but is not limited to: extra long, extra short, and bifurcated (top and bottom do not meet, exposing the tail tip) tails.
- Constellation lumens: Akin to freckled lumens, but lines connect the dots to each other
- Striped lumens: Lumens are stripes.
