Since Tek wasn't hugely fond of hanging out too closely with the people on the ranch, he didn't have a lot of experience with man-made things. This also meant that he had never really encountered "people food". He really only ever ate whatever his trainer left out for him, and he was happy with this set up.

On a chilly morning, Tek was walking across the front lawn of the Slate Mine household. He was returning to his goat herd after a short walk of the estate's perimeter. As usual, he scented the air to make sure nothing had changed while he was gone. Protective of his herd, Tek had learned a lot of the different predator scents from his time on the deer farm. When he scented for them today, however, he came across something different.

This smelled...delicious. It made his mouth water. Tek diverted his course towards the house to investigate. There he found his trainer sitting out on the porch, enjoying a lunch. He approached cautiously, then sat beside the trainer and took a tentative sniff at the food. The trainer smiled at him.

"You ever had a grilled cheese before?" the trainer asked, before tearing off a piece of the food and offering it to Tek. "Here; try it."

Tek took the food gently, and immediately decided he loved it. It tasted so good! The delight must have shown on Tek's face as his trainer started laughing.

"Well damn, I'm glad you like it," the trainer said with a grin. "I'll make you one next time we head out to the trials. Don't let me forget."
