I'm a narrative-based roleplayer and, more often than not, I've realized my reply length sometimes pressures folks into replying to the same length as my posts and it leads to too much happening in one reply for me to react to. I'm used to editing down my posts at this point, but I've always wanted to share them somewhere as is, so this is one of those places now. This is for that very thing, just for one of the threads I'm in as my lad, Breaker. I'll elaborate on it more another time.

Surprised by the mention of Cassius' name, relief visibly swept oer the giant as a heart-warming, elated grin spread across his face. Then, realizing he likely scared the daylights out of Breaker, he took some steps back and sat down.

He confirmed that yes, he knows Cassius, and was meant to come y later today but arrived early.

His grin faded a little with a grimace as he realized he almost monkey gripped a friend of someone dear. He then apologized, continuing to explain that there were odd signs around the house that made him suspicious had happened, plus a stranger, and he assumed the worst.

To see such a cold scowl shift to a smile as warm as the sun, like a completely different face on a completely different person, but everyone just the same as before. The shift would be jarring if not such an immense relief.
Yet still his hands trembled barely out of sight, palms still shimmering and readied until the stranger sat down some paces away, those wary, teal eyes following him all the while, until a puzzled gawk dropped it all to the floor.
The only person Cassius mentioned coming by was his son. But this guy and the old man were so...different, to say the least. Maybe this was someone else?
Though, when he thought back to how much food Cassius bought...

It was that sigh that brought Breaker out of his thoughts and, though only a little at first, out of hiding.
"You're his son, then?" Breaker called out, face now completely visible. Then, to perhaps both of their surprise, he began to laugh. Relief, joy, and nerves all released in a wavering but honest, airy laugh that eventually pulled the disheveled man completely into view, he leaning on the windowsill as his "magic" faded to nothing and tense body finally began to relax.
"I would have done the same, been it I in your place." he assured, still composing himself from his jittering nerves, yet the smile it brought held true. It was a reply that was more real than the giant may ever learn.
"He forgot something important from our trip to buy food. I've never seen someone so distraught over a lack of pickles." A note made only more amusing with the new facts of his forgotten coat and security. All for what boiled down to marinated cucumbers. "Left in quite the rush."

He took this moment of calm to take in the full view of the new face and self. Aside from features too slim to be healthy, he looked perfectly normal. Sure, his clothes were a little tattered, but so were Breaker's. This was a perfectly normal man. One that also happened to be the largest human he may ever see in his life.
One that looked so terribly guilty.
It was time to change the subject.

"A friend of Mr. Morgan's is a friend of mine, regardless of its start." He grinned, offering the other the best smile he could muster as a hand, tucked behind crossed arms in his lean, raised to gesture toward himself. "I'm Breaker. I met Mr. Morgan last night when he... When he found me sleeping in his yard." A sheepish grimace just barely broke through that smile before he caught himself with an equally sheepish chuckle. "I didn't realize it was someone's garden. Simply failed to dawn on me. He invited me inside and I've been here since."
He settled into place on his perch, still smiling. "You two must be very close, with the honor of being such a generous heart's son."
