Troublemaker

The climate on these parts of Bellacoste was totally different than what Dango was accustomed to - he'd grown up in the chilly mountains of Banelaire, after all. The warm weather made Dango feel warm both inside and outside, and all fuzzy with energy. It was a beautiful, cloudless day, and the summer sun shone bright in the sky.

The experience was, naturally, very new to the young Geode, and he wanted to waste no time exploring every bit of the beach, naturally. He started inspecting a few conches and shells that layed spread out in the sand, and as Dango approached the edge of the sea, the blue waters calmly invited him in.

He'd never felt like this before, not even when his mother had taken him to his first shopping trip before he was finally enrolled in school. The waves crashed at the rocky edges of a tall cliff some distance away from him, but he could still hear the sound of the water shocking against the rubble of rocks that layed at the bottom of that cliff. It made him feel like he could achieve anything inside the infinity of the blue ocean.

So, he jumped in, fearlessly wafting through the waters until his claws could no longer reach the bottom. The feeling was indescribable.

Soon enough, his father was able to notice the shenanigans his son was up to, and yelped in a panic.

"Dango!" he screamed, and ran desperately in the direction of his kid. But Dango was uncaring, submerging entirely under the water before appearing a few feet away from the place he'd plunged in the first place. "You don't know how to swim! Come to me!" His father screamed in rising worry, but diving seemed as natural to Dango as walking would be. He giggled, then did a sommersault under the water.

It took his father a few minutes of frantic searching before he noticed his partner looking amused from the land. He stared at her.

"Help me save him, woman!" Dango's father urged her.

"I'm sure he's fine." His mother waved at him nonchalantly with a claw.

"What do you mean? He doesn't know how to swim!" He babbled, in a high enough volume for her to be able to hear.

"Doesn't he?" He recognized her sarcastic tone even from a distance. He looked back at his son to see him deftly swimming around a school of fish, rounding them up like one does a flock of rambunctious pippets. Realisation dawned on him.

"Where did he learn this?" He muttered, too low for his partner to hear from this far. Even still, she probably picked up on the meaning of his words.

"Maybe he's always known." She yelled.

"He could've done it without scaring his father to near death..." He mumbled, and started making his way back to the shore.
